I have tried to make 4 different batches of DIY liquid and nothing is working.
Here are my scenarios.
4oz of PG from Madvapes
4oz of VG from Madvapes
5ml of 100% nic 100vg from FSUSA
1oz of Amaretto from LorRann
1oz of Butterscotch from LorRann
Various tools of bottles and syringes and I have used 2 different kinds of calcs.
I wanted a good Amaretto flavor so I tried this.
Scenario 1 tried for 5ml at 16mg
nic 16 drops
PG 55 drops
VG 9 drops
Distilled water 10 drops
Flavor 10 drops

No vapor at all for some reason.. :?:

Scenario 2 trying for 10ml at 20mg
nic 40 drops
PG 10 drops
VG 90 drops
Distilled water 20 drops
flavor 40 drops.
No vapor yet again. :(

I even tried using 100 proof vodka instead of distilled water and still nothing.

I vape quite a bit so I would like to learn why these mixtures are not working because I can go through a 5ml bottle in a day and half or so.
I have tried the ejuice Me Up calc, the ejuce_calculatorv13 excel found on this site and on online calc from E-Cig-reviews and I do not think the calc is what is messing me up. Maybe I have some crap supplies? I have put straight VG into an atty to test out since I read to change flavors you can just run some straight VG through it to clean out the flavor and it produces vapor that way. I am going to try to do some straight juice without nic so I dont keep wasting it but I am at a loss as to why my mixtures are not working. I even put some in a de-bridged atty so I can watch the heating element and all I see is a little spit of vapor but nothing when I try to vape off of it.

it will really lower your vapor production
I will admit my DIY has not been extensive...but I never add water and try and keep my pg to about 20% or less...but I like tons of vapor...I have seen water added flavors and they almost always suffer in vapor production over all, lorans is water based anyway isn't it?

I use eJuice Recipe Calculator
to make a 3ml bottle it would say
use 10 drops of your 100mg nic base
38 drops of your vg (or you could do 28 drops of vg 10 of pg for an easier flowing juice)
12 drops of of flavoring (you will have to play with that but for a predominate make the ameretto the predominant flavor)

I would skip the water (and the vodka) one time see if that helps

Ok, trying that now. The Amaretto says no water but the Butterscotch does.
Since I do not want to waste any nic I am trying this.
1 drop of nic
9 drops of PG
41 drops of VG and 9 drops of Butterscotch. I will see how this works. I can understand what you are saying with the water, just thought it was needed.

trying for 3ml btw

Wow, you were right. Vapor right away and I do taste the butterscotch, but then I use 801's and I hear you get more flavor out of them. I had not realized that the water or vodka diluted that much. I will scratch those off of my list.
I can handle this, I like the butterscotch. My favorite eJuice off of the market is Karma Scotch from Puresmoker, it is a mix of caramel and butterscotch so this is doing pretty good. I will have to make a larger batch and let it sit for a couple of days and see how it does.
Thanks again.

I've always wondered why there are recommendations to add distilled water. I can't imagine vaping water! It will soak into the filler (and clog it) and prevent getting vapor or any satisfaction whatsoever. Moral of the story: Never add any kind of water!

replace water with PGA...

The DIY Stickies have a boatload of info that will help you with DIY. I could type a tome here but it is all basically already written in those stickies. I NEVER use water or PGA for that matter. I find my sweet spot is 80%pg/20%vg. That mix requires no agent to thin it. Also higher PG base liquid means flavors are transmitted easily and I mix at about 10% to 15% flavor (depending on recipe and complexity of flavors)

Well, I am mostly a dripper at 3.7v with a LR 801. The Tonic eJuice from puresmoker is a perfect mix for me normally and the ingredients on the side have distilled water so that was one other reasons I was using it. Maybe it is the flavors from LorRann that I am using that were causing my problems... who knows. I know now that I should not have to use the extra ingredient so it is all good now.
I find that all the cartos except for some 3.9-4 ohm kr808's were not doing well for me. Taste was not there and neither was vapor. I am using those kr808's at 6v and I am going to use those for driving. It is kind of a completely different taste with the same eJuice but it is still not bad.
About 7 watts on my 3.7v and 9 watts on my 6v is my spots so I will try and stick with them and find the right ejuice to complement that ranges.

Just a quick note....using water or PGA is usually just to thin the VG to close to what PG is...for flow/wicking purposes.
The percentage of PGA or H20 is anywhere from 10%-20% of the amount of VG....not the total amount of juice being made.

I regularly mix my juices at 20% of VG which is at 80pg/20vg....no vapor production issues at all...
In my E2 cartos...I do thin a bit more, even with PTB mods and cut wicks, just to improve wicking for my vaping requirements.

ie.....10ml total juice (for 80pg/20vg mix)
2ml - VG
.4ml - PGA (2ml VG x 20% = .4ml PGA)
1.5ml - flavorings
rest - PG nic and filler PG
