I posted this to another forum here but I guess it's not as monitored as this one, and I really am a newbie. Moderator, please feel free to delete the other thread. Here goes:

As a brand-new vaper, I waited most impatiently for a week to get my sample pack of 18 mg e-liquid in five flavors, and I feel like crying!

Every single one has a perfume/soapy taste.. :(

I am using a Cignot Joye 510 with manual battery, and a PT if needed. I have been smoking the pre-filled carts of 25 mg Marlboro and topping off with either the same or EcoPure Fresh.

Before using the new liquid in one of the carts, I took the filler out and rinsed it under water, then patted the filler dry on a paper towel. Then I dropped 7-8 drops into the cart, added the filler back in with a tweezer, then added 3-4 more drops on top to make it slushy looking.

I then blew out the atty to get rid of any of the existing liquid. Then dropped a couple of drops onto the atty.

Attached it all back together, took a nice long vape, and BLECHHH!!!! How disgusting! So I thought maybe it was the flavor (a honey/caramel) so I did the same process with my other atty and another cart, this time with a menthol flavor. SAME RESULTS.

Then yada yada yada, did it with all five flavors, and everything tastes like soap/perfume, nothing like the flavor it's supposed to be. In fact, they all taste pretty much the same, even a cherry/lime flavoring.

WTH?? Is there any way to get all this cleaned out and use the original Cignot flavors it came with and get rid of that nasty perfume taste? This supplier has good reviews, and I don't want to cause an issue, but is there something I am doing wrong?

TIA.

Check your cartridges and see if it looks like the edges have "bites" out of them. It seems some of the cignot atty's run very hot and melt the carts resulting in a chemical/plastic taste.

I was vaping for a week and a half when this week-end all of a sudden EVERYTHING except my RY4 and Watermelon tasted horrible- i shaved the ends of the cart,I tried PTB,Blue foam, buff puff, poli for fillers, I primed the atty, I stored it tip up, I stored it tip down- every possible fix I had read on the thread addressing the atty issues. Still tasted bad- then as fast as it started it stopped and last night things started tasting alright again.

It's weird and I have no idea why it happened or why it stopped. It may just be your taste buds coming back to life. But don't give up.

Hi and wecome. I got my 510 from cignot and it was great, still is. Sorry to hear of your problems. There is a post on this forum about cleaning and one or more about cleaning with alcahol. I hope you find an answer also contact cignot and see what they tell you. Best of luck. Sorry didn't read far enough. I'm thinking it was that fluid they put on them, you almost have to burn that out which is probably what you did. I'm glad it turned out ok.

I checked all the carts, and they all look smooth. I also finally switched out to my last new pre-filled cart from Cignot, and even that one now tastes perfumey. (is that a word?)

Gosh darn it, I don't know what to do. I just don't want that smell or flavor again, it is making me sick. And I have zero analogs to fall back on since everything was going so well.8-o

Did you try a different atty or try cleaning the one you're using? I'm thinking maybe the first flavor has residue in the atty or the new flavors aren't mixing well with the residue of the other carts. Does this make sense? The other possibility is you received Dekang liquid. I find that that brand has a perfume/floral scent and flavor under the stated flavor. I can only use one of their flavors, so plan to mix my own. I'm thinking of selling mine in the classifieds, including several bottles of unflavored, because I can smell the floral. You're right it is horrible if you can taste it.

Rainbowz, what I do is designate 1 atty for each flavor. That way, I don't have to worry about cleaning the atty or the old flavor still being present when I try a new flavor. Hope that idea helps. Also, take a look at Kristen's 510 How To Guide...........it gives a whole bunch of procedures to clean the atty's.

I wouldn't use boiling water, I use the hottest I can get out of the tap. I put the attys in an empty coffee mug and then add the hot water straight from the tap. I let it sit in the water for a few minutes and then gently swirl the water around. I do it a couple of times then when I can pull them out I gently blow through the battery end and stand it battery end up on a paper towel to finish drying.

All the Dekang flavors I can't stomach are reddish tinted. I can only use the ones that are yellow in color. I looked at cignot and saw that they have U.S. made liquids but the ones listed under other PG may very well be Dekang.

Don't throw out the cart just yet - your taste buds might be going thru a weird phase. Mine have, still do at times, when nothing tastes right - with liquid I KNOW i like!
Sometimes letting it sit for a while (not in sunlight, never leave them in sunlight) helps, sometimes vaping menthol helps (many people swear by this, I've not tired it), sometimes its the flavor carrier (PG or Vg) leaving a coating on your tongue that everything sticks to flavorwise and makes a yukky melange of 'wth is that' taste (this one tends to fade on its own). Don't forget to increase your liquid intake (like water) as being dehydrated can affect taste too.
WHat else? lol
Don't rush to clean the atty in various solutions unless you know for SURE its the atty and not the juice.

Oh I also should make it clear that the liquid that tastes bad is NOT from Cignot.

Ah, now I get it. I was confused, because I thought you were getting a perfume taste from ECOpure. Try unflavored Krystal or Regular. They are almost tasteless (to me), and I think they are great for someone new to vaping, since the taste is so unlikely to be offensive.

All of the fruit and berry flavors taste like perfume to me.

Thought I'd give an update. I went to clean both the atty's and when I started looking closer at them I thought I saw some white stuff sticking out from under the bridge. I had to get a magnifying glass out, and sure enough, some of the filler was trapped (in both atty's!!) under the bridge. I used some tweezers and finally got it all out, it was all burnt looking.

I think I ruined one of the attys trying to get the stuff out, I pulled too hard and the bridge lifted up on one side. I'll find out soon, though.

So I washed them out thoroughly in hot water and left them to dry overnight. Then I dried them further with a hair dryer. I then direct dripped onto the atty, and it seemed to work! No more perfume/soap!

However, the other atty did not work at all, I guess I fried it. Time to order a new one! The only thing I can think is I got overzealous and vaped too hard when I used the new juice???

This is definitely an issue, and I don't understand why it isn't a MUCH bigger issue.

I have gotten samples from NuVape and every single one had a background perfume taste.
I threw them all away.

The two Vapor4Life cartomizers I tried also had a background perfume taste.
I only took a few drags off those and threw them away as well.

I have seen many posts of people saying the Dekang juice has this problem.
But that makes no sense to me given that Dekang makes a huge percentage of all juice.

All I can tell you is that I have never had a perfume taste in any juice in these places...
