I don't know what happened..... worked wonderful up until last night.
I didn't notice it on when I went to bed, but got up this morning to a very burnt carto and the blue light stays on constantly. Only goes out when I pop the batteries out, and putting a new carto on it
(just to see) it "cooks" constantly. And appears to be higher voltage than it should be, I can really hear it and vapor just pours out of the top.

Not Good!

Now the top stinks of burnt carto, hoping that will clean out, maybe with an alcohol wipe.

Any clues? I am not tech savvy at all!
Do I need to send it in for a once over?

Jonesing already.....

Ouch!

Hang tight! - Mike will be here later, I am sure, with some home troubleshooting tips (as well as the rest of the Army, no doubt) once they wake up.

My chronic blue light syndrome was cured with an alcohol bath - once by Mike, a second time at home...but I am not an expert and won't/cant recommend doing that until the more experienced trouble-shooters arrive. There may be other things to try first...

Feeling for you for what its worth :(

Thanks boss and Pokey!
Startin' to get the shakes here.....
I've also sent a PM to Mike.

I'm worried about home repair. I'm all thumbs when it comes to stuff like that.

Yeah, it doesn't sound like something I'd want to try to tackle myself. It's a bummer to part with your Buzz but I've sent mine in and I had it back all fixed up in a week. Here's a link to the RMA form you'll want to send in with it. RMA form
Good luck UnFettered.

OK

First (and be honest :p) Are you a messy dripper? Have you had a major tank leak? If so you could have juice in the button causing it to stay on.

Repair of this requires a bath in alcohol. Soak it upside down in iso alcohol up past the button. (Remove the top cap first-See the "swapping top cap thread for instructions") This will sometimes fix that issue. It is VERY important that you allow the unit to FULLY dry after this procedure. A hair dryer can help to expedite drying time.

It could be something stuck around the button (sometimes due to the glueing process) Usually you can see this and use something to clean around the button.

If neither of these help you, it could be a bad controller as hairball mentioned. Of course in that situation it will need to go to the buzzpital for surgery. Mike can consult to any other ideas and help make arrangements for return.

I have done the alcohol bath on my Original Buzz a time or two but I thought that a friend here mentioned to me that Mike did not suggest it for the Pro? I could be totally wrong about that and I do not have a Pro so listen to the more experienced here and good luck :)

I know they are coating the boards to help protect them. The only reason I can remotely see not to soak one would be if that coating is susceptible to dissolving in alcohol. I dont recall seeing a recommendation against it but I could have easily missed it. :p Im sure mike will be on this afternoon to give a answer in one direction or the other.

In the meantime US read up on popping the top cap and do a good visual inspection and see if you see something odd. If you do that might be some good info for Mike.

Yeah I almost said nothing because I am by no means as good at this stuff as you all are. But I think that a friend told me this via PM. It happened to her and I linked her to the alcohol bath procedure that worked for AG. She had PMd Mike and I am pretty sure that he told her not to do it with the Pro.
But like I said I could be totally wrong about this. Hopefully Mike will be along soon :)

Always better to be cautious than sorry later :)

I have had the alcohol bath done to the Pro by Mike and his team once.

And, I have had to do it once since then, myself, to my Pro - sloppy dripper that I am. Lol

Both soakings worked and the only harm caused by the one I did at home was that it removed the colored markings off the wheel. :)

I don't usually drip at all. I lean heavily towards cartos or tanks. I have had some minor leaks I clean up right away.
I also try to fill whatever I am using off of the unit. I don't always follow that.

This has been suggested.... I MAY attempt it. I am still waiting to hear from Mike. I'm a wuss and not tech savvy, and quite frankly I'm worried about trying it.

It could be something stuck around the button (sometimes due to the glueing process) Usually you can see this and use something to clean around the button.

I did just now carefully unscrew the top cap and tipped the unit around to see if anything jumped out at me.
(Brass needs a serious polishing) It is now wet inside, but the I strongly suspect that is from the carto that was being heated up all night. Juice that wasn't burnt was everywhere.

Buzzpital. hehehehehehe

While I'm waiting for Mike, I'll have a look at the top cap thread.
Thanks Ruppy

This was the person that I was talking about so it ended up being fine :)

And this method has always worked with the 5 Buzz that we have had so worth a shot IMO
