I am very new to DIY and after some work now have my first vapable mix. However, I have noticed that it is drying to the mouth. It has very little pg(just from flavoring) and I am at a lost as to what could be causing it.

High VG mixes absorb water when you inhale it. VG absorbs water like crazy.
Maybe a few percent of distilled water would 'feed' the VG before it got into your mouth and reduce the drying.

Spoiler alert: PG binds water molecules, as does VG.
Adding some water (4-10% of the DIYed batch, depends on the mix and your taste) should saturate the mix enough so the drying out effect is not so hard on your lungs.
I use about 6-10%, but YMMV.

But thinning a PG based juice will make it very thin, so most don't do it.
They just put up with the throat irritation or go to VG.
Even though I don't like using 'Drops' as a measurement unit, 2 drops per ml is close to 10%.
With small batches (1ml) you pretty much have the choice of 1, 2, or 3 drops per ml.

When I added some EM to my pure PG mixes, they definitely lost some of the harshness. I'm a VG guy though, and love the coolness of VG, so I prefer higher VG concentrations, but a balance is great because PG is better at dissolving the flavors than VG and that's why I presume it gives more flavor.
I can use a little pg but have an allergic reaction so I am trying to keep pretty much all vg. I knew that pg would bind the water but was not aware that the vg also would bind. I was wondering if one of the flavors that I used had caused the problem. I am going to do some testing with the pg to see how much I can tolerate. I know it really helps with flavor. Before I tried this I used to thin "how hard can it be"--I am telling you I have a whole new respect for you guys. As my first post said I have a vapable mix. Not a great one but I do have some hope now, LOL . Thanks so much for all the help. I really appreciate it.
