Been vaping about a month and just got an aegis legend today. Bought Hohm life batteries and now I’m reading that these are bad to use. Is this true in general or just for vaping at higher temps? I vape around 35-50w on my voo poo Drag.

Edit: Used the Hohm batteries and they were fine. Got some LG HGs today, as recommended by Mooch. Realized I didn’t like the tank that came with my kit and put a Falcon on the Aegis (great combo). Thanks for the help and all of the info! Also, thanks for being patient and understanding. I want to vape safe and stay cigarette free.

    Welcome to ECF, Big Orange.

@Mooch has done testing on them, check out his blog here Mooch's blog | E-Cigarette Forum, there might be more info there. Search the forums here too for hohm. He has some great videos on youtube also - HookTube search

Others will be along soon to say hi and welcome and some will most probably have more to say about those batteries.

Thanks for the blog link! Found the batteries I bought and Mooch said they were ok, but they weren’t on the recommended list. Lots of info on the blog. Wish I knew about it before I bought batteries. I just want to keep off the cigs. TBH I’m kind of feeling like I may be in over my head with the mods and I’m a little scared to use the new one. Might just use my pods till I get educated.

I'm glad it helped. The recommended battery list was last updated before the Hohm batts starting making their round I believe. Education and research are definitely good things to do. Regulated mods aren't really that difficult, and they're actually not to much different than pods, they're just more 'adjustable'.

I felt overwhelmed when I first started vaping, too. Glad you came here and asked.

If Mooch didn’t warn against the batteries, they should be okay to use if you got them from a reliable source - meaning not eBay, Amazon Wish, etc. I get mine from Liion Wholesale, but there’s a few trustworthy sites.

You’ll want to always look them over for any damage before putting them in the mod.

And get a good charger, they’re not terribly expensive and your batteries and mod will last longer. Don’t charge in the mod, and never leave batteries out or put them in your pocket, keep them in a case when not in the mod.

Your mod is protected from shorts and low batteries and such. If there’s any fault in the batteries it should not fire.

Lots of people could word all this better and more accurately than I did, but I hope that helps some.

I'll reiterate, as long as you trust the source of the batteries, they should be well within tolerance.

I myself bought some less than ideal batteries my first go round, and still use them, but only in a regulated mod, and below what the markings on them say.

These would be ideal up to 120w in your legend, if you really are worried. Never hurts to have a few spares, either. Coupon code "timerz" for 10% off.

    LG HG2 3000mAh 20A 18650 Battery - lgdbhg21865 - High Capacity and Power

Chargers can be as tricky to pick as batteries also, so please ask, or do research. That site has a good selection also.

Thanks! You worded it just fine and in plain English which I appreciate.

Vaping is a little overwhelming and sometimes when I try to research things I either don’t get it because of the terminology or get completely freaked out.

I usually vape between 35-55w. The juice just tastes better to me. My taste buds might still be shot from smoking though.

I have an efest charger. I’ve read both good and bad, but mostly good. This was on Reddit so who knows. Will look around on here from now on.

I have heard good things about their chargers as well. Their batteries, not so much. With batteries, the most important thing to remember is, there are genuine and there are fakes, and in-between, you get re-wrapers. The re-wrapers take what ever they can get, and put new plastic on them.
Also,They may appear to be similar to your garden variety AA, AAA, C, and D cells, but in reality, they are a much different design. Both physically, and by chemically. Chemically, they are much more powerful, and so when things go bad, it can happen more powerfully.
Physically, they were never meant to be removable. Alkaline batteries like a "9v" is, in actuality, six cells arranged in battery, end to end, or series, rather than parallel, or more complex. This yields the 9v by sequentially adding voltage. These cells are protected physically by the case, so short circuit conditions are prevented.
Your mod will do this for you, while the batteries are installed, but that becomes your responsibility when they aren't in the mod.

I think I just need to research and ask questions here and stay off some of the other forums. They are helpful, but people here seem so much more patient.

We're the OG vaping forum. The other ones are populated by edgelords that we banned.

    Welcome to ecf.
Don't be afraid to use the Legend, it's a great regulated mode and your watts are well within the specs of your wattage usage. What tank are you using?

I was nervous about it, but I used it and I really like it. I bought the kit so it’s the one that came with it (Alpha tank?).

What started all my worries was reading about vaping on other forums. I did not realize you shouldn’t charge via USB. Just found that out yesterday and I’ve been doing that with my voo poo for the past month. Then I bought batteries without researching. I researched how to use them safely, but not which to buy. Scared me and I started really doubting vaping with mods. Thought I knew what I was doing and finding out I was making potentially dangerous mistakes freaked me completely out.

Definitely going to lay off the other forums. There are cool people on them, but there are some that are intimidating and some that I think are just trying to scare people.

Unfortunately, and I may have come across a little to stern, but as you seem to know, there is a level of respect one should have for Vapes, and anything else with a Li-ion battery. Some take it to an extreme, but others do things that make people like mooch rethink their ratings systems.

I think your concerns were valid, and erring on the side of caution is usually the wise move in life, irrespective of the activity.
