Okay - been at this for two months now and am about to go crazy with recharging and dripping. LOVE being smoke-free, but I'm ready to step it up a notch (from my KR808) and could use advice from you seasoned pros.

From what I gather, the next purchase should be a eGo, Riva, or Tornado - none of which I am familiar with AT ALL.

I used to smoke about a pack and a half a day of lights or ultra lights. Truth be told, I made my own, so I can't be super accurate. I love vaping more than analogs, but I don't ever feel completely satisfied. Not sure if it's the juice or the hardware.

Anyway - my main problem right now is that the 808 is in my mouth constantly and I have to charge them at least 6 times a day. I want to get something that 1) doesn't need to be charged as often, 2) is easy to fill, handle, replace parts on, 3) still relatively 'cigarette-like' in size, 4) something that I can see the liquid in so that I don't burn out carts...if that's even relevant to this next jump in hardware...? Not sure, but I don't know enough about this to know if I'm running low on juice or on power, and suddenly I have a burned taste.

Would love any comments / suggestions. Have learned so much already from this forum and look forward to your thoughts and or links to good products at good prices.

Thanks!, Valerie

If you want to keep the cost down an EGO kit with 1100mah batts, and a couple of DC Tanks with some XL cartos would let you vape for a long time on a charge and keep you aware of the juice you have left. Some will come in and tell you to go to a VV mod like a LT, or a SB or even a Provari but I would recommend getting something along the lines of the EGO so you can try out alot of different 501 threaded cartos and clearomizers. Lots of options in that style if you are really looking for longer lasting batts and visibility on the juice and still relativity inexpensive.

I am a few weeks ahead of you.

If you are vaping all the time and have stopped smoking well done you!

I would think about raising the amount of nicotine you use. I underestimated that need and was using 12mg and was vaping all the time and still needed a cig or 2 a day. Upped to 18mg and have been good since.

Don't get too mixed up with Ego's, Kgo's and mods they are just batteries. Now those batteries do the fun stuff and give power to your atomizer or cartomizer that has juice in it and that is what stops me from visiting jail!

The battery needs to be big enough to last you the duration you need. For example I am away from home sometimes up to 14+ hours so I meed a fairly large battery. In fact I use 2 mods to ensure I am covered. You can tell how long a battery is going to last by it's mAh rating. 100 mAh lasts an hour.

So just buy what you feel is appropriate to tour lifestyle.

First things first, no such thing as a "cigarette-like" sized battery that will provide a good battery life. That being said an Ego or Riva is going to be the best place to start to give you good battery life. The larger or higher mah rating, the longer it will last you so take that into consideration when looking at the different size Ego batteries and such. If your a cartomizer fan then I would suggest looking into a carto tank, this way your still using cartos like your familiar with but now can see juice level and have an idea of when you might need to top off. Another possibility woule be the Ego stardust clearomizer which you can find at Gotvapes.com. Vapes differently then a carto but will allow you to see juice level and many people really enjoy these, you might as well.

Hope this gives you some direction to go in :)

A KGO is 1100mah and will last you at least 7 or 8 hours of heavy vaping. Two batts come in a kit for less than $50. Get some DCtanks and cartos for in them and you'll be good for a day or more. I used one of my batts all day today and it's still not dead. I like mine so much, I ordered two more! SLB KGO Starter Kit
I like this one because it comes with cartos instead of the atty's that most other kits come with.. and the atty's are junk. I started with the small 808 like yours and this is really a huge step up. But it's 510 threaded so your cartos won't fit on it without an adapter.. You'll get lots of recommendations,, so good luck to you!

DC? XL? VV? LT? SB? Huh? Aside from what I don't understand, I like your response to get an eGo...I guess. What is a DC tank? Arde all eGos, Rivas 501 threads? No filling / batting stuff for any of these, right?

I have been wondering if that's the problem all along. I have no idea how to calculate this, but I have an inkling that you're spot on

do they allow vaping in jail?

What is a Kgo? mAh duration is great info - thank you

Shoot, sorry - I see you answered what a KGO is. Thanks so much for the link too.

I'm a little confused (go figure) - what's the difference between a carto and an atty in the mid-sized e-cigs?

A KGO is a device that functions like an Ego device and has a little bigger battery and a little higher battery output. DC is a Dual Coil tank that is a pretty cheap tank that holds the liquid. XL is the size of cartomizer that fits in the tank and makes the vapor. The cartomizer is disposable and you change them every couple of days or so and refill the tank with liquid and vape some more. LT stand for Lavatube that is a different kind of device that you can vari the volts to the cartomizer to make better or hotter vaper. VV is any device that you can vary the voltage on. The Lavatube is one such device. Hope this helps with your research. Good luck!

Before you make your next purchase, decide if vaping is something you see yourself doing long term. If you still aren't sure, go ahead and get something like the KGO 1100mah. But, if you see yourself at it for a decent amount of time, I'd concentrate on finding a VV (Variable Volt) mod of high quality such as a Provari (It's what I use, but there are many good ones out there. I'd just avoid the ones with stacked batteries). They are costly, but when compared to what we used to spend on analogs, you recoup your cost in under a month. In addition, it gives you the flexibility to control the vapor production of your unit. You also only need to change batteries once a day.

Then, get yourself a DCT (Dual Coil Tank). They hold 3.5mL-6mL of liquid. You will also need some DC (Dual Coil) cartomizers. Many vendors sell these pre-punched (they need a hole in them to allow juice to enter the wicking material from the tank) if you aren't comfortable making the hole yourself. Plenty of video's on Youtube that show you how to use them with clear instructions if there is any confusion.

From then on, your vaping "setup" time consists of filling your tank in the morning and changing the battery. You are then set to vape all day and are able to customize your vape. Too harsh? Turn the voltage down. Not enough vapor or throat hit, turn up the voltage. You can also adjust for each juice individually. Some taste better at lower voltages, some at higher voltages. You are in control at this point.

I started with an Ego standard with a drip tip and to got very tired of charging and dripping... I moved to an Ego with a pass through battery so I could vape and work not needing to worry about charging all the time.. to get past the dripping all the time i moved to the T type tank system... You sacrifice some flavor in my opinion but I stuck with that for some time before moving to the Ovale Elipse system i'm using now. Battery lasts a good deal for being so small but its built in pass through so i can keep it plugged in while i'm at my desk. Its a neat little setup, but pricey.

I can't quite wrap my head around vaping from something that doesn't somewhat resemble and feel like a cigarette - because of the newness and strangeness of it. But I know I have a huge addiction and will probably be at this a while...I think.

One thing's for sure, I don't understand half of what you all are talking about and I'm not a stupid woman. Where did you all learn this? Without tangible learning (ie: something in my hand to see and touch), I have a hard time grasping all this info. How did you all do it?

I don't think I care much about vapor. Haven't a clue about voltage. Just want a set-up that tastes good, satisfies and isn't in constant need of fiddling with. Some fiddling with is okay - but all consuming...not so much
