I have a rba, but I want to use my tanks (previously used with my vv twist) on my mechanical mod.
Need some advice:
Is it a bad idea?
Safety Precautions?
Low resist vs Standard resist?
Dual coil vs Single coil?

I have a smoktech magneto, and battery wise I have Sony 3.7v 18650 batteries, 2100 mah, 30a
[h=1]Any additional advice would be much appreciated.[/h]

What kind of carto are you using? But yes i think you should be fine. Im running a smok PBC2 tank on my magneto with a sony 18650 30A at this very moment: ). And no its not dangerous in fact it's probably safer that running a LR RBA on your mechanical. The battery you have being rated for 30A's it could in theory handle an incredibly low resistance atomizer (though i would'nt push it). I'm waiting for a bunch of 1.5 ohm replacement coils right now so thats the resistance i'm using.

Ps nice choice of mod and batteries!!

You'll have to keep your firing pin in your magneto as tight as you can get it. It won't be flush with top cap, but it will work. I suggest a kick...4.2volts on a 1.2-1.5ohm carto will be too much for it, and once it gets below 4volts, a 2ohm carto wouldn't do it for me.

A dual coil wouldn't have enough power behind it for me. The lowest I know of are 1.5ohms.

It's bern a while, wondering how it worked out for you. I just got my first mech, infinte tree of life, it's beautiful and works well with my carto tank as far as airflow... It has an adjustable pin, I can even get it flush with enough air. I use lr boge slotted cartos, thinking ill order some 1.5 ohm and see how it goes. I have a kick as well... I put it in, fired up nice. Set it at 7 watts since I usually vape at 7.5 watts on my mvp 2... I'm still interested in how others go about setting up their mechs using carto tanks... I'm wondering bout dual coil, with a kick?

I use the ego style cartomizer tanks on my mechanical mod (Astro Clone) a lot. Most are running 2.5ohm coils, so there's no problems.

However in the past, when I was running generic Kanger 1.8ohm coils, sometimes the ego tanks wouldn't fire up again after using it on the Astro. Evidently it had to be the coils that was the issue, since I switched to Genuine KangerTech 2.5ohm coils, all of my tanks runs much cooler & no more leaks/floods.

Before moving to regulated mods, I used cartotanks on my mechanical Silver Bullet, BB, and Gripper. I'd suggest low resistance single coil cartos for a mechanical. Unless you use a Kick, then use standard resistance.

You used mechanical then regulated? I don't hear that often... Now I wonder, why you didn't just use a kick?
I considered putting a Kick in my mechanical Silver Bullet. However, I change flavors a few times a day. Each flavor has its own "sweet spot" (in voltage) that best presents its fullest flavor. Changing the wattage (voltage) on a Kick requires adjusting a screw on the Kick with a cross-thread screwdriver, meaning the mechanical mod must be disassembled each time you make an adjustment. PITA (pain in the azz).

With a regulated mod you need only push a button to change voltage/wattage. Convenience. In addition, a regulated mod has a built-in voltage meter and built-in ohm meter. Convenience.

In my opinion, if you are going to Kick a mechanical mod, why not just use a regulated mod in the first place?

Carto tank modified for use on flat top mods. Ya just gotta be smarter than the air flow

We were using cartos on mechanicals long before there was much of anything else to use.

3.4-3.7v PVs is WHY there are low resistance cartomizers.

A mechanical mod is just a high priced battery tube. The only advantage as compared to your vv twist is that your 18650 batts will last longer before needing a recharge. With a kick you will get a bit more flexibility but, IMHO that is just throwing away good money after bad. Sooner or later you will learn that a proper variable power mod, possibly cheaper than a mech + kick, will give you a fuller vaping experience. Meanwhile, anything from 1.5 ohms upwards should be OK.
