lots & lots of mods better than a provari. Reo, and Precise are both mechanical american made mods. You are gonna get a million different opinions on this, but it all comes down to personal choice.
Provari & Darwin used to be the only mods in town with digital displays...............now you can buy a $40 VV with digital display anywhere. Just more things to go wrong with the mod if you ask me.

Do you have a link to those two mechanical mods?

I probably will go with bad's advice at first but I know me and I know I will be going with the cool stuff very very soon so tell me more

James, it's endless. The sky is the limit on this topic and really artistic modders are making really cool stuff all the time. MMVapors (Poldiac & Temon), Golden Greek (GGTS, GGTB, Stealth), Caravela (have to go through a list), Atmizoo (Roller), SuperT Manufacturing (Precise+, ELA). You can look any of these up on Youtube, browsing the classified ads(http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/sale-trade/) or in the show your stuff thread(http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/225727-pictures-your-setup.html)

And this list does even touch how many cool things folks have made.

Well, I'll start off with what I'm very familiar with. My first mod was an Altsmoke Silver Bullet. AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Silver Bullet - Starter Kits

One of the first mass-produced mods, and probably as popular today as it was when it was first introduced a few years ago. Built like a tank, one of the best fire buttons in the trade. Very popular mechanical mod, most vapors have owned one at one time or another. Popular to put a microprocessor known as a Kick in the battery chamber to produce variable wattage. Also popular to use with rebuildable atomizers. Uses an 18650 battery for all day use. $85 for the tube.

GGTS is a Stainless Steel telescoping mech mod (you literally twist the center section to fit 18350, 18500 or 18650 batts). The GGTB is a fixed batt (meaning takes one size). Both are made by Golden Greek and sold by Clouds of Vapor in US. I love my GGTS and my Poldiac. My next mech mod may be the the SuperT EVA (really cool telescoping mechanism) and SuperT stuff is built to last. One thing to know about unregulated batt mods (all those listed above), the batteries come off the charger ~4.2v and drop as you vape so the quality and power of the vape drops too. The Provari has battery regulation so that the voltage is precise. What you set is what you get until the battery gets down to ~3.3v where the Provari safety features shut it off so that you don't damage your batts by over discharging (unregulated mech mods you have get used to the feel of the vape so you know when to swap them out - no safety features other than vent holes incase the batts self destruct)

If I were you, I'd still start with the Provari. Think of it like a totally pimped out Peterbilt truck - looks cool, works great and will haul anything for 500,000 miles...
