I've been using the standard mystart aspire and there are so many box mods out there and tanks that it's hard to tell which ones are best. I'm looking to spend at most around 120-150$ on a box mod and tank. I really would like to get one that charges with a usb rather than having to take the batteries out and charge them. Also, would like a tank that produces decent clouds with the replacement coils.

I would recommend external batteries and external charger against USB..

Batteries often get warm charging if they get too warm they could vent.

Its better to ruin a $14 charger than a $40-200 mod and be forced back on tge stinkies until you get another mod.

The recharge portion of the board in the mod is only about the size of a dime.

A dedicated charger has tge circuitry spread out on a pc board larger than the board in the mod.

Cant recommend mods or attys untuk i know more about how you vape.

The wattage you like, and if you use MTL (Mouth To Lung) of DL (Direct Lung )

Your price range is not really cheapish, there's nice stuff out there. I would also encourage you to get something with replaceable batteries, as Li ion batteries do have a limited number of charging lifecycles, and it would b a shame to throw out a good mod because the internal battery is dead. Investing in an external charger offers you another benefit. You can always have another charged battery available to swap in when the current is running low, so you don't have to sit and wait for your mod to charge.

For a tank using factory coils that's good for clouds, someone else will have to weigh in. There are lots of options, but it's not how I vape, and I don't want to give you inaccurate info. As to the mod, I'd suggest a 2 18650 battery mod because you will be running at higher wattage for a subohm tank to make lots of clouds, and 2 batteries are more likely to last you a full day.

As you don't have a preference regarding size, your choices are even wider. The simplest could be an iStick 100W which quite affordable (~$35 or less) uses 2 replaceable batteries, and will work well for chucking clouds.
A Presa 100W is another option at a good price point. Moving up the scale, you can look at everything from a DNA 75 based box mod or a 133W DNA 200 mod. Excellent chip, and the box itself can be found for <$100, which would still leave you with $30-50 for a tank, which should be more than sufficient.

I would recommend people avoid the Wismec mods.

I had a press and 6 months later it was toast.

Another member here got a Wismec mod and it died in a month. The Wismec mods has known QC (Quality Control) issues.

Only reason I don't use mods with external batteries is because of all the crap on the news about them blowing up and I don't know much about which batteries are good, etc.

A properly cared for, authentic battery in a regulated mod is quite safe and the likelihood of it blowing up is really, really small. Even in mods that don't use replaceables, there is still a Li battery that can still blow up (not likely) and typically is of a chemical type (Lipo) that is technically less safe than standard batteries. Those stories almost always involeve someone with no understanding of how these things work using a mechanical mod, which has no protection circuity in it, which is present in a altered mod.

Remember, even your smartphone can burn and explode. It just rarely happens.

Curt 95% of the time those exploding and venting batteries were being used by the CLOUDS BRO CLOUDS fans using a hybrid mech mod, and building STUPID LOW resistances.

Get a good regulated mod with top shelf batteries such as authentic Sony VTC, Samsung 25 R or 30Q, or LG HG2. And you wont have a problem unless you build below .25 ohms.

Two other things.

1. Batteries are only good for about 99 charge discharge cycles. After 50-60 charged i demote them from vaping to using in a flashlight.

2. If you need more than 75 watts you will need a mod with two or more batteries. You will have to carry the batteries. Use them together and recharge them together.

Get good batteries and don't abuse them and they will serve you well.

If you are looking for something with internal batteries, why not get innokin products. I use only internal battery products because, like you, I don't know much about batteries and also because its more convenient and cheaper for me. Here are a few things I'm familiar with and I'm sure there are others out there willing to throw their :2c: in :)
Coolfire 4 TC (temp control kit)
Innokin iSub V Cool Fire 4 TC100W Aethon Chip Starter Kit
Innokin Coolfire IV Plus 70W iSub Apex Kit
Innokin Coolfire Plus IV 70W iSub Apex Kit
Innokin iTaste MVP 3.0 Pro 60W - EXPRESS - Blue
Innokin iTaste MVP 3.0 Pro 60W - Express kit - Blue
I'm not sure on your vaping preferences but with the iSub tanks that come with the mods you can get 2.0 ohm coils for it for Mouth to lung inhale(all iSub coils are interchangeable with each other)or 0.5 ohm coils if you prefer Direct to lung inhale

    coils/atomizers factory made
Replacement Coil-Atomizer Head for Innokin iSub Tank
RBA (rebuildable atomizer ) kit for making your own coils
Innokin iSub RBA Rebuildable Atomizer Kit
I hope these links help ya out a little. Don't forget to look at some reviews on the products on Youtube (if you want).
    IndoorSmokers
    TiaVapes

They are two of my favorite reviewers (if you don't mind a few curse words)

I second the other poster on Wismec equipment, they won't get any more of my money!
I'm not a fan of non-replaceable battery devices, why throw the whole thing out because a $10 battery died?
IF you insist on USB charging take a good look at the Eleaf Istick Pico, around $30, replaceable 18650, 75 watts, TC, etc, but has also been tested to have one of the better onboard charging systems. The DNA boards have the best.
On batteries, buy high amp, Sony Vct4 or 5's, LG He2's, something with a 25 amp draw, it will say in the description. Buy them from RTDVapor and have NO worries! Buy at least two for a single battery mod, four for a dual battery mod and get a charger from them as well. This way when the battery goes dead you can swap and vape on, you'll thank me later!!
As for chucking clouds, the Smok TFV4 with a triple coil should be a decent start. As another said, it's not really my thing so I'm not a great deal of help.
Don't be afraid of batteries and chargers, just treat them with respect and buy the best you can from a reputable seller, RTDVapor (getting the hint lol!) and all will be fine!

I don't recommend charging batteries inside mods at all.

If there is an incident. Better to ruin a $15 charger than the mod.

I have always used mods with internal batteries. I was becoming disappointed in myself as that does not fit my lifestyle in general. I don't normally buy disposables but rather invest in "But It Once, Buy It For Life" items. I had already made a decision my next mod would have replaceable batteries when the FDA Deeming Regulations dropped. Now it's more important than ever to invest in gear that will last.

I second RTD Vapors. I purchased my battery charger and batteries from there and have heard nothing but good about them. With regulated mods having so many protections built in, I think it would hard to mess up. We can all benefit by learning a bit about battery safety, however, and there are great resources on these forums.

I would leave charging batteries inside a mod for emergencies, when you don't have a spare charged battery or can't get at your charger. For safety's sake and because those charging ports often seem to be a weak point. You don't want it failing and then not being able to use it in an emergency. Also, don't some mods use those ports for firmware upgrading? You sure don't want it failing in that case.

it's ideal, but if that's the only option the op is willing to use, then the Pico and DNA mods are where to start.
You also have to consider all the lack of problems with internal battery mods. Things have changed a lot recently.

Yes many mods used the USB for firmware updated Joyetech, and many others

There are some mods with USB ports that only do firmware updated and will not charge the batteries

I've got both the RX200 and DNA 200 Reuleaux, have had them from their first release and both are still working like a champ.

Now Aspire mods are pure garbage. Bought the Pegasus and ESP mods some time back, pure garbage. I also have a Siegeli 150,good mod but from what I've seen the 213 is also crap. Max wattage is only around 155 and the TC doesn't work worth a ..... That and they've been threatening reviewers with law suits who pointed this out.

HAD the Sigelei 30. Pure gabage. Worked more like a mech than a regulated mod

Sigelei better but nothing special. Sold it.
