Help with a new Provari / Gandalf Juice ?

I received my Provari from Provape today, I filled a 3.0 Boge 510 with some Gandalf from HHV 100% vg and took a vape at 4.3v :vapor:. It didn't seem to have as good a vapor production as i see on videos such as Pbusardos :glare:. I am curious if anyone could give me some pointers to tweak my cartos until my Vivi novas arrive in the mail, then i will give those a whirl. Thanks! - Frank

4.3V into a 3Ω Boge seems a bit weak ... that's only about 5.3 Watts ... a pretty cool vape, IMO. Try cranking up to 4.4V (about 6.5 Watts) or even to 4.8V (about 7.6 Watts). Should see a big increase in both vapor and TH ... personally, I like Gandalf @ about 7 Watts on my ProVari. :)

Now i'm not entirely sure, but after cranking it to 4.6V the throat his seems pretty harsh. Now i am coming from a BLU  so there is literally no TH to compare it too. I am not quite sure what is normal. If this is normal it may take some getting used to . Thanks for the feedback Scott!

p.s It may or may not be worth noting that this is my first Boge 510 carto. I have only experience in 808's thus far.

I don't have much experience with Boges, but I've read on other threads that the taste is kind of goofy of recent times ... apparently, Boge changed something about the cartos and die-hard Boge fans are calling it "Bogegate"

PBusardo has a discussion and video on that issue ... don't know if it will help or not.

Yeah, coming up from a Blu to a ProVari is a big jump (a very GOOD one, I think) ... I started out with eGo Twists and still love them. I have four in constant rotation. The ProVari is reserved for my ADV (which is Boba's Bounty) in my Penelope!

May want to try a ViVi Nova. Man on top of the PRovari you can dial in a lot of vapor. So much so that I friend freaked. He is using a standard tank. I do find that you can run at a lower wattage on the vivi. I have just gotten spoiled . I got fed up with my last surviving tank the other day. Like 90% of my juice is all or nearly all VG. Very thick.

Are your throat hits fairly harsh? Just curious. I feel like vaping at 4.8 volts is rough. I'm still enjoying the provari none the less.

It largely depends on a.) what you're used to (tolerance for TH generally goes up over time), b.) the juice (some vape much better at lower wattage, especially those that use PGA, which introduces a lot of TH all on its own), and c.) the atomizing device you're using and the wick (I get a very smooth TH on a Penelope using cheesecloth wick; OTOH, my eGo-C Type A tanks get quite harsh over about 7.5W) Of course, that's just me ... YMMV.

OH just had a thought. Don't know the boge but did you clean it or put a fresh atty in it. Because for me once you get a crust on the heating element then you get that TH/Burn.
Either you're confused or I am. No insult meant by that. The OP is talking about Boge cartomizers, and you appear to be talking like its an atomizer; you can't put a fresh atty in a cartomizer. And "most" people don't clean their cartomizers.

However, it is possible to burn the polyfill material around the heating coils if the carto is not kept wet enough with juice. Once that happens the carto is ruined and needs to be replaced.

Is it possible that the polyfill material is burned in the carto? I have no experience with the viscosity of this juice so this is just a shot in the dark. If the juice is thick , it takes a little while for the 100% vg to fully saturate the material and reach the coil. Thus , though the filler material in the carto may have seemed fully saturated, it may not have made its way all the way down. Only suggestion I have is to fill another carto, and let it sit for about 20 minutes and see if the filler still looks as wet as when you started. If not, add a few more drops and wait another 10 minutes or so. Sorry if that was obvious . I don't assume anything when trying to help.

If the above is not the case, then perhaps you just don't like the vape characteristics of Gandalf . Have you tried other naturally extracted tobacco juices that you enjoyed? Perhaps put some in an 808 and try it on your other setup?

BTW I got my ProVari V2 starter kit in the beginning of September and I have been quite happy with both it and the 3.0 ohm Boge cartos that came with it.There are no rules to the voltage you like .If you do fill a new carto , start low (3.7v or so) and just start going up in .1v until you find the vape that suits YOU.

I vape Gandalf in my ProVari using Boge 3ohm cartos in a tank @ 4.2 volts, and I get plenty of vapor. Maybe your carto is too dry?

If you use a carto you have to keep it topped off, otherwise you burn the filler material and there's no way you're going to get that burnt taste out of it. I've used smoketech cartos which only lasted me two days, and am now using boges in a tank and they're lasting me 1 1/2 weeks with the same flavor. Darker juices will clog up your cartos or vivis faster than lighter color ejuices.
