Help with DIY liquid

I started out mixing 50/50 mixes with 20% flavor and wasnt happy with it. So I lowered the mix to 80VG/20PG mix but lost flavor. Any recommendations on adding more flavor to get the flavor back. What percentage rate should I use of flavor? Any help is appreciated
