Hi all,

I've introduced myself in a previous post. Now I have a "technical" question that someone might be able to help me with. I have an eGo-T start kit which is working well. For the first time I now need to refill the tank. When I pulled it out of the atomizer (is that the right term?) some liquid leaked down into it. How do I keep that area clean?

I'm new to this and my terminology might be wrong here. Hopefully someone understands and can help me out:)

Edit: I've seen the video for taking out the piece at the bottom but is that necessary just to clean it. And when/how does a little spill become a problem? Maybe I don't need to do anything.....

Thanks in advance for any help!

Some slight residual juice may end up on the battery. What kind of tank/atomizer are you using?

If it's just a little tiny bit of juice here and there, it's likely not an issue. Just keep a q-tip near by and wipe it out from time to time. When the battery is drained a needs a charge, that's a good time to get another q tip and clean the battery contact with just a dab of rubbing alcohol. Be sure it's completely dry before plugging it in to charge.

If there is TONS of juice leaking all over the battery all the time, that may be a problem. If this is the case, you are likely flooding your battery and may need to consider the tank/atty you are using, and the kind of juice you are using. I find that high PG juices are more likely to leak because they are thinner. I found a happy spot with a 50/50 blend of PG/VG if I have a choice, depending on the vendor.

Just using the standard atomizer and tank that came with the starter kit. The residual juice was between the tank and the atomizer down near the wick. It seems like I just need to wipe it with a q tip. I've not had to charge it since I first started it today (totally noob) but cleaning any residual stuff between battery and atty sounds good as well. Probably worrying about nothing but I'm just learning...

I just don't want to have a gunk buildup type of problem in the future but it seems like you have to replace the atty every couple of weeks anyway. Corrections appreciated.

Thanks for your reply!

Hey welcome to the vaping world! I started with the eGo-T also 3 weeks ago, and quickly realized those tanks arent the best. Its actually called a "clearomizer" in your case. They're actually disposable and should only be used for like a week or 2, but you can clean and "dry burn" them to keep it running for a little longer.

NOw that liquid running down on that battery wont hurt it, thats actually not the battery itself as the battery is under that. Its like a protector. Just always clean it with a q-tip, papertowel, napkin, etc. You don't want that to gunk up.

And to clean it then only thing you have to take off is the mouth piece and the rubber stopper inside. It's easy :)

Welcome! :vapor:

Hi Black6. There is no big foul in getting a little liquid down there.
Your terminology is dead accurate. Your device consisits of three parts, the eGo battery, the "t" atomizer and the tank section which fits into the atomizer.
If you look down into the atomizer that post is your feed to the coil. It contains a wick to feed the atomizer coil with liquid from the tank section. The atomizer will eventually need to be cleaned( good to know how to service before it has to be done) but due to buildup of vaporizing liquid on the coil way down there in the bottom. If yo treat those atomizers well they can last for a good long time. You have nothing to worry about from the mishap with the liquid. You can even rinse those out between filling them to help keep them performing as they should.

I used those attys early in my vaping journey. I learned alot from them. Put in the work and they will treat you well. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Hi IUsedTo,

When you say that you can rinse those out are you referring to the tanks? I would think so as those are the only things you fill. As far as servicing the atty I watched the video of popping out the piece at the bottom. Would you do that do clean them, with a q-tip and alcohol? Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm sure once I learn the specifics of this specific piece of gear I will have moved on. But knowledge stays forever :)

In response to Ephoral's reply, I'm not sure what a dry burn is. And how that would help my tank. It would seem as if the tank, being plastic, would just last forever. I know that's not the case and they need to be replaced, I just don't know why. Perhaps because it is close to a heat source?

Thanks again to ALL of you for helping me out and welcoming me to the forum!

Well that thing will cake up quickly, and in a while you might start to experience a bad burnt taste to your vape. A bunch of gunk gets burned and melted onto the coil. A dry burn is simply a process you do when cleaning. first after taking the parts i mentioned out, you let the whole tank sit in hot water, alcohol, etc. (Everyone does it different.) I used water. Then you let your tank dry. Now when its dry you put the battery on and "dry burn" it. Simply you put the battery on, no liquid or anything in the tank, and press the button for 2-3 seconds let go. 2-3 seconds let go. Repeat that process. Vapor will rise and thats all the gunk getting burned off. You do that until you see your coil turning orange/red again and no more vapor is being produced. Just rinse to get the burned stuff out and your good as new for a while.

Look it up on youtube, it might sound complicated but it is easy.

Thanks Ephoral for the reply. I think you're referring to the atomizer when you talk about gunk buildup (as opposed to the tank which is where you put the e-liquid) and I understand how that would get buildup. So when you say "whole tank" I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. Would you happen to have a link to a youtube video that shows what you mean. I would look it up but I'm not quite sure what to search for....

Thanks!
