I have been trying to reproduce the Smooth Menthol juice I get from my store but am stuck.

The flavor is ok but when I puff, I can inhale for 10 seconds and I have absolutely no throat burn - it literally feels like Im just sucking air - I am getting a large cloud but I really want that strong menthol burning sensation in my throat.

What will give me that result? I have a finished target of 50/50 vg/pg - I bought my nicotine at 75pg/25vg and the flavors Im using are TFA Koolada, TFA Wintergreen & Menthol from crystals - all based in PG. I never ordered any tobacco flavoring and found it that they do put that in the juice I was buying - not sure if that would help

What am I missing? What will help give me that strong throat hit? More VG or PG?t More menthol?

Thanks!

What percentage of Koolada are you using? I've been told the throat hit from that can get pretty intense, but as I quit using wintergreen flavors years ago, I don't have any personal experience to draw from.

Im using 3% Koolada -

Does either PG or VG give the throat burning feeling? If I go heavier on one than the other will it make a difference?

PG helps with the throat hit, as does nicotine. I mix at 70PG/30PG and even at 6 mg nic I have no trouble with throat hit. Small amounts of PGA can add throat hit, (not too much or you'll shoot blue flame out of your atty lol) and there was a product on the market a few years ago called QHit made by FlavourArt, but I believe they either discontinued it or changed the name. Maybe it's Flash now?

Might try bumping your Koolada up to 5%. Those looking for throat hit complain that it gives a minty taste, but since that's what you're looking for anyway... ;)

I've tried FW capsicum & instead of throat hit it give a burning sensation in chest. Then I tried inawera black jack tobacco ...... It's perfect for throat hits but it will give u tobacco taste too.

It's interesting you say that - my local vape store is very secretive about their recipes (as Im sure the majority of income comes from selling juice) but I was able to find out that they do put 555 tobacco in so I ordered it, hopefully that will help.

I'd never heard of PGA either. Must be a southern thing.

Most would probably know it as Everclear, in the south PGA Punch is pretty much a right of passage. lol

Any high percentage alcohol will work in vaping however, some use vodka, they just tried to limit the water content as much as possible. Of course, we were working mainly with PG bases, which doesn't need any extra thinning.

Throat hit is important to me too. A fresh wick and brushed off coil seems to help. My DIY uses about 1% flavor which means coils hardly gunk up at all. That seems to promote throat hit. A brand new coil and wick seem to benefit throat hit. When I'm hearing a bit of sizzle from the coil there is usually a good throat hit. I rewick every few says and build a new coil every 1-2 weeks. I do MTL and restricted air. Sometimes I'll deliberatly press the fire button a fraction of a second before starting the puff then get off the fire button a fraction of a second or longer before stopping the draw. That technique, which might take some practice, seems to promote throat hit. Sometimes slowing down the draw so the vapor spends more time in the chamber will help throat hit.

Now Everclear I've heard of. Yeah, I don't use any of that either - PG is enough and I'm happy with 60/40 juices

How many ml's are you using 3% ? I've used Koolada for a long time, I use 10%, 10 drops or .5ml per 5ml, 50/50,. Fantastic throat hit, anything higher I cough my head off.
