Thanks for the responses. I do have a big order coming tomorrow actually yay!!

kjAthena, what do mean by toppers? A few posts back, Katdarling put a link to Atomizers? Is that the best way to try different flavors? I'm trying to learn, what I've seen people write, about dripping a couple drops. I'm not sure what I need to do that? Is that an atomizer? Is that easy to clean or are they just disposable? I'm sorry for sounding so lost here, I am doing so much reading, but I start on one thing and then say "oh, maybe that's what I want" and start reading something else. I'm getting confused, or maybe I'm not...see, I'm confused lol

I think I'm doing ok. Mostly everything I have is the ego twist, kanger ts3's. I'm afraid to go off on anything else because I don't know what fits what. I want to pass this whole thing along to my family and friends, but if it's so confusing and high maintenance, I know some won't do it. I have my moment's thinking that way, but I'm stubborn when I want to learn something new :)

pnut, "toppers" (my word creation and possibly my only legacy to the vaping world, LOL) are any vliquid deliver system you put on top of a battery. They can be atomizers, cartomizers, carto tanks, clearomizers, rebuildable atomizers, genesis atomizers. It simply means whatever device has your coil (heating element) and your vliquid.

Most agree that dirct dripping in an atomizer is the best way to sample taste liquids. You only need to drip a few drops and you will only get a limited number of puffs (3 to 5 drops gives most people approximately 10 hits). With a carto, for example, you need far more liquid to fill it (and it must be saturated to work properly).

They are cleanable, but eventually will give out, so yes, they are disposable in that sense. But you can use an atomizer for months on end (sometimes ;)).

No apology zone here! You're asking great questions and believe me, they'll be a newer person around here before long asking YOU the questions! :D

It does seem complicated and complex at first. Once you really get going and start using your new equipment (aka toys) you'll find your way. And with the help from people here, it won't seem so daunting.

Even as a veteran vaper, I still have questions! And I still ask. Keep asking. We really don't mind! :D

Also, Google, YouTube, and the search function here on ECF will become your new best friends.

Hi Kat,
Sorry, I just noticed you replied. Thank you!!

Right now I'm stuck on atomizers. What I don't get right at the moment is when I look at the link you sent me earlier SmartVapes 306 Dripping Atomizer How does that fit on this: Joyetech 900mAh eGo Twist Battery They look like they have the exact same connecter. Do I need some type of adaptor? What is a drip shield? Is that something I need also?

small bites :0)

The 306 atomizer will fit onto any ego or 510 connected ecig. They both are 510 threaded.

If you use a drip shield, you would need a 510 to 510 adapter. It raises up the atomizer so that the drip shield will fit and function the right way. The drip shield will fit over the atomizer, and sit below the atomizer connection.

The purpose of a drip shield is to stop eliquid from leaking from your atomizer.

On the other hand, if you plan to use the 306 atty just for tasting liquids here and there (basically not major usage), you could prolly get away without using the shield.

I think I finally get it. From pictures, it looks impossible that the 2 will fit together. I see now that the atty fits inside where the battery connector is, not close to where the button is or outside threads are on the battery. Sorry again, I did place an order finally. Can't wait to get it in my hands. That will bring it all together!!!

Yes, you got it! I think once you have it in your hands, you'll see how it all comes together quite intuitively. It's really easy... just screw in the atty, drip, and vape! :) If you have the time, there are many YouTube videos you can watch to learn more about direct dripping. Some people pick it up and it's like a duck to water.

Here's to your new adventure! :toast:

I get more and more excited about it everyday! I am actually looking into mixing my own now!! Yep, jump in with both feet I am.

I have watched more You Tube video's and am on this forum everyday that I feel like an addict lol. I am looking forward to getting off old fashioned cigs. I know, I know but I do have a reason at the moment. I can't find enough flavors that I like yet. I'm trying to get at least 10 I love that I can rotate around while I try more. I'm finding myself wanting to change to something new everyday. I'm a little stuck on Dekang Green Apple right now, but still need a change at least every other day. I want this to be successful and this is the best way for me to do it. I hoping diy will work out. I can't wait to get that started!!
Thanks again for all your help Kat. I feel like I have the basics down now and I couldn't have done it without you!!

Hiya Pnut and welcome!

WRT cleaning the coils, I'm lazy so i just soak mine in some PGA (cheap vodka is OK too) for a couple of hours and that's all I do. If you really want to save money, you can dry burn and/or rebuild, but I don't have the time or inclination to do so. The new coils for your T3 clearos are inexpensive and I prefer to just grab a new coil whenever I need it.

Good luck and happy vaping!

Awww... shucks... blush... grin! :D

Sounds to me like you're definitely getting the hang of all this new stuff. As far as flavors go, we ALL "struggled" with that. It's almost as if you're a baby tasting food for the first time, and not knowing what you like. Experiment and just keep tasting. Sample bottles are available thru many vendors. Please remember also that what you like today, you may not like in a few months as your taste buds go thru a healing process... and vice versa! There's absolutely nothing wrong with changing up your flavors on a daily basis. I'm a total flavor changer and I have at least 10 flavors going every day in rotation. I'll vape one flavor for a while (could be 5 minutes, could be 2 hours) and then I change it up.

There are fantastic threads here on ECF for DIY. Read everything!!! Ask tons of questions.

Cheers! :toast:

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate the help more than you know!!.
Katya - PGA, is that alcohol? Then do you just pull them out of the cleaner, fill and vape or should they be left to dry for a while?
I haven't tried cleaning the 510 atomizers I have yet, but now when I do I'll have to consider if it's just worth it to do like you do and use a new coil on the T3s's. We will see.
I do like the 510's at the moment though. I can't believe how long 3-4 drops last!!
