That depends on your battery. If you have a regulated battery, variable voltage or variable wattage, you can use many different ohm ranges. If your battery is fixed voltage, it depends on the Vape you like. Lower ohms will produce a stronger Vape, but too low my taste burnt, higher ohms will produce less Vape, too high you won't have much flavor nor Vape. It's all about what works for you, so I suggest trying different ohm levels.

A quick Google search will provide you with a wealth of information about resistance v. voltage (look for Vaping Power Guide). I've only been seriously vaping for about a month now, but already made the switch from an e-Go standard battery to the e-Go-V V3, and being able to adjust voltage to the coil resistance helps IMMENSELY. RuDawg is absolutely right by saying it really does depend greatly on your personal setup.

Trial and error is what seems to be best teacher. Get extra heads at various Ohms and find what you like. Personally I just stepped into my first MOD yesterday and I can say switching to watts control instead of voltage is working great for me. I found with some of my juice, I had to time my draws when dealing in voltage, To short no vapor/flavor. To long, burnt and nasty every time. I had to use no lower then a 2.4 coil.

Now with the wattage control I found I like 1.8 ohms at mostly 4.5-6.0 watts. That works out to fairly low voltage, and gives me good battery life. It also allows for variance in my coils so if I have a 2.5 in my voltage adjusts automatically for me and I avoid nasty draws.

6 watts is considered to be the median power for a good vape. Some like more, some like less.

In the calculator you can input the voltage you like to vape and the resistance of the coil you are considering, then click "calculate". If your eGo Twist goes from 3v to 6v, find a resistance that will put you in the middle of the voltage range and under 3 amps to allow you to move up and down and find your sweet spot.

Be aware that the current range of the Twist may not allow you to get full voltage from lower resistances. Stay under 3 amps in the calculator. The Twist will automatically reduce its voltage to stay under the maximum amp limit. You could have it set on 5 volts and actually be getting say 4.3v on a low resistance coil.

Here's another question, I ordered the submarine tank from mom and pops and a 5 pack of cartomizers for it, after I placed the order I saw they are not punched out, doh. How would I go about punching the holes in them, what size and location?
I feel like an idiot for not reading more.
 
Watts = (voltage squared) / Resistance

As mentioned above, 6 watts is a good place to start. Your eGo Twist has a pretty wide range, but will top out if you try to put a low resistance on and vape at high voltage--it simply can't produce any more power, so turning up the dial does nothing.

Most people seem to like about 2.5 ohms, plus or minus, which would be functional through most of the range.

And for example, Watts = 4^2 / 2.5 = 16 / 2.5 = 6.4 watts, or very near the sweet spot (for most people). Assuming you've set the Twist to 4 volts, of course...

With the Twist, you can play with the voltage to your heart's content, so any reasonable resistance will do--from 1.5 to 3. I'm not sure what the lowest allowable resistance is, but it's usually safe to assume 1.5 and very few commercially-available, pre-coiled atomizers go below that.

For a carto tank most of us like a carto with a flange at the bottom to keep the tank from sliding down onto the battery and possibly leaking some juice. You can use unpunched cartos and punch your own holes as Keeferes said. Some people just go to the home improvement store and buy an icemaker saddle punch. It's designed to pop a hole in a copper pipe to hook up an icemaker.

They look like this ... it's a cutaway view picture to show function. The actual valve looks like the bottom picture.

I use my 60W Zenon Flashtube laser :) JK actually a small finishing nail might work
