yup... im a pt II, and I use 32 ga almost exclusively............ have some 30 ga kicking around, just don't use it much......

I like to vape between 1.8 and 2.3....... wide parameters, but i'm sloppy sometimes with my wraps.....

surprised at the 2 ohm or 2 ohm and a little bit though... never thought they would be as good, but they are!

ciao, good vaping

Bigcatdaddy what size jig did you use. I'm going to pick one up at Michael's tomorrow. Also was that wick or cotton. Every time I build one they either leak like a broken pipe or I get no flavor just burning taste. I thought maybe I was wrapping too tight and the coil is suffocating the wick. I have used both wick and cotton. I have watched plenty of videos can't understand what I am doing wrong.

I feel your pain. I have struggled with the PT 2, and think I finally have got it. Here's what works for me. Get an aero base on that thing. Will make the PT2 MUCH better. 30 ga wrapped on 5/64" bit. Wick with cotton, but don't stuff it too tight. Should fill it but not real tight, still "pullable" if you know what I mean. Trim it between the outside of the gate and the inside of the flange and fluff it out. 8 wraps usually gets me close to 2 ohm +/- a scoche. The 5/64" bit won't fit in the gate, so I switch it over to a 1/16" to set it in the head.

Just got some 30g wire today and did my first rebuilds ever. Used a 5/64ths drill bit to wrap the coils and used non boiled organic cotton for the wick.
First one I did 8 coils and it tested at 2.0ohms in my brothers vape but it tasted just a bit burnt almost, so I just took the cotton out and fed a slightly bigger piece through and it tasted great but couldn't hardly tell that I was inhaling vapor otherwise
Did a 2nd one with 7 wraps that fired before I put the tank on but wouldn't after that, then on my third I did 6 wraps and got 1.6 ohms and it gave me really good results in my vape, very smooth and the throat hit is flavor and not burn
I may retry 7 wraps again tomorrow to see how it is
I am overjoyed how great both coils seem to do compared to the stock coil though it definitely seems to taste cleaner and even pull better, didn't think rebuilding would be so easy or worthwhile results wise, I don't have an adjustable voltage vape at the moment so this gave me a way to adjust the intensity of the vapor to my liking

Well this morning i did the same as Oiisu and wrapped 30 gauge around 5/64ths screwdriver fed enough cotton to fill but could still pull it through. To prevent the burning taste, after testing the resistance which was 2.2 I added a drop of juice then juiced my flavor wick which i used 3mm silica. The first 3 hits not so great but Eureka after that good taste, good vapor and no leaks. I did about 5 that way this morning and tested them all and they all worked fine. :D

MetalXCore,

One trick to help with winding coils on wick is to take a small torch and run it the length of the wire, getting it to glow red quickly. This will help the wire hold its shape as it coils around the wick. The key is to wrap slowly, always watching and pulling towards your fingers holding the wick slightly. You would think straight is what it takes, but then I get coils too far apart for PT head. Just be watching as you go.

Thanks for the tips! I still haven't received and 30 or 32 gauge kanthal so I have just been practicing every night. The method I use: torch the kanthal, wrap a 8/9 coil around a 20 gauge sewing needle, squeeze coil between pliers then put leads through bottom of the head, feed peaches and creme yarn through coil and reassemble head, test ohm and then soak with juice and make sure it fires. This method gives me the best and most consistent results :D
