I was smoking a pack a day so I started out with 24mg liquid and stuck with it. The first few days I had some headaches which I attributed to the change of nicotine flow into my body.

If your a coffee drinker like I am you might consider cutting back a bit. Also, maybe try pacing yourself when using your ecig. If you notice yourself using it heavily, put it down for a bit. Durring my first week I would puff on it a few times each 20 minutes. I used the following formula to help regulate my nicotine intake...

I smoked one cig per hour @ a pack a day (give or take). The average cig would give me about 15 drags. When I went to my ecig I took 5 drags every 20 minutes = 15 per hour. I figured 24mg was very close to what I was smoking. Sometimes I would break the pattern and take 7 drags in a row every 30 minutes.

I stuck with this for a week or so. Now I jsut drag when ever I feel like it.

Even though you reduced your MG strength, you might be dragging more often or for longer sessions. Nicotine has an apprx 2 hour hlaf life if I recall.

Assuming you're in good general health, this is probably something fairly simple. You might need to lower your nicotine level but maybe not. I think Disk4mat's suggestions sound great. For one thing, vaping & smoking deliver nicotine in very different ways. With smoke the nic has a faster path to the brain, and I've read here it also contains a chemical or chemicals that "freebase" it into action. (I don't know about this, but it would explain the fast rush one experiences with those first few puffs after a period without a smoke - noticeably absent with vapor.) OTOH, with vapor the nicotine seems to accumulate in the system & last longer, sort of like a short "time-release" thing. So if I keep vaping a fairly high % nic juice steadily I'll begin to get a headache. I haven't checked my blood pressure, which tends to stay fairly low, but I expect it is elevated somewhat at that point. Anyway at the onset of a headache I put my PV down for a little while.

BTW if you're not already, drink plenty of water because vaping does dehydrate us. And if none of this stuff helps I'd probably discuss it with my doctor. Again, assuming you're in good general health he should be happy to assist you in this method of harm reduction (or smoking alternative or whatever he wants to call it). If not, I'd find a better doctor.

Hope this helps... Best of luck, :vapor:

Hey Kentucky...it can be hard to regulate vaping since there is no end to it like with an analog...compulsive vaping will prob leave you with a headache...however, I was getting headaches from the analogs at the end there, and they are going away. So maybe just lay off the vape a little....try only vaping when you feel you need to...instead of constantly putting it to your mouth...assuming that is whats happening. hope this helps...btw...I had to drop from 24mg to 18mg..

Rapid heart rate can also be associated with withdrawal from all the other chemicals in cigarettes. For the type of smoker that you were, I would try 12-18mg...use 12 at night before going to bed. When I know I've had too much nic, the first thing to happen to me is a headache, followed by upset stomach, then a rapid heart rate. However, I stop at the headache which passes in 30 minutes or less.

I noticed the same thing, rapid heart rate, sometimes palpitations, and as soon as I went from 18 mg to 12mg haven't had an issue since. That is what I would suggest. I started at 24 mg, then decided that I wanted to "step down" my nic. First went to 18 mg, and was still having issues, so I stepped down to 12 mg, didn't notice I was vaping more, and issues past. I've been vaping 12 mg for a couple of weeks with no issues. I will say one thing though, I still have a couple of 10 ml bottles with some 24 mg juice, and man it hits like a truck, I didn't really notice stepping down, but if it weren't for the heart issues I would probably go back to it.
