I have a generic mech mod (got given to me dont know what kind) and the battery cap is stuck. Really cant afford a new mod. Anyone know how to get unstuck? Ive scratched the hell out of it trying to unscrew with pliers. Going to try a vice grip. But any other options? My friend (guy who gave to me) said its been stuck for about four months. Please help!

If it is threaded, it getting stuck can be a problem sometimes. What usually works for me, is to take it on to something like a tiled floor, and.. well.. drop it from about 3 inches up. Doesn't take enough to damage the mod.. just rattle it. I have a Nemesis that gets stuck all the time, and that does it for me better than pliers or a vice.

A second thing I use, but I doubt you have it on hand, is a rubber strap wrench It applies pressure to all the sides at once, and doesn't leave a mark. If you had one of those, that would be my first choice. If not, wrap a rubberband around the top, and use pliers. Try not to scratch it, or use a vice. I am afraid you'll deform the metal tube and make it pretty much a permanent thing.

You might bend the metal and ruin the switch if you use vice grips. Can you get the battery out? Post a pic of it so we know what you're talking about.

If the top comes off and you can take the battery out, or if there isn't one in it, try spraying the threads with wd40 really well to get it into the thread and then clean the outside with a paper towel and rubbing alcohol. You could you could also put it in a waterproof bag and soak it in ice water afterwards and then try with a pair of pliers wrapped in electric tape or something else protective.

And triple check you're turning it the right direction lol

I cant get the top off at all. It doesnt have an atomizer the yop that holds the battery inside it is whats stuck. I cant get the battery out.

Its on the top

so is the battery inside it dead then?

i'd try knocking it gently the way people knock stuck jam jar lids.

then there's the centerpin; if you have a small enough long nose pliers maybe you can get a grip on the centerpin, and rotate counterclockwise to release tension

as for scratching things I wouldn't worry about scratching the topcap; the tubes i'd want to wrap in rubber of paper and not dent/deform; meanwhile I wouldn't mind putting a pipe wrench to the topcap itself even if it digs lines into it; too many topcaps are made too darn smooth in the first place.
