So the batteries that vented were in your mod when you dropped it in the snow right? What kind of batteries did you have for it? Did they vent inside mod or outside when you charged or something? It could have been from the drop that messed up the chemistry of batteries which led to venting soon after, or you could have messed up something in the mod which led to it performing unsafely. I know myself I would buy another mod unless I was 100% sure the batteries were the main culprit. The mod is only 50$ and that's worth peace of mind to me. Vape safe.
I personally wouldn't risk it if any of the melted snow made it inside the mod to any of the critical contact points or electronics. I'm with Rockwell on this. It sucks to retire a mod that may or may not be perfectly fine, but I'd rather err on the side of caution in this case.
I agree with them with the exception of if it was me, I would try to dry out my mod for a few days and then put some new batteries in and see if everything still worked. That would only take a moment (after waiting a few days for the chosen form of desicant to work). The mod may still be okay. I would suspect that the snow did in fact melt inside the mod and that caused the batteries to short. Either way you go remember to vape safely and if you have any doubt you would be better off getting a new device.
I'm sorry for your loss. The odds are that your mod has gone to mod heaven, it probably isn't going to work anymore if you've already tried new batteries and the mod did not power up. Again I offer my condolences.
