Also, double post, I'm sorry, but I'm just adding that all of the crown coils are TC.
The standard coils are sus316L
So I have the .25 coil in there. Did proper priming etc. Half of first tank was not the best. Since then much better but just got a slight burnt taste. Cleaned chimney and inner coil with qtip then lowered watts from 65 down to 45. Better taste minimal cloud. Do you prefer the .25 or .5 coils?

It sounds like the coil wasn't primed properly. How did you prime it?So things were amazing yesterday and now I’m getting dry hits. I’m using the .25 coil at 50w and I have everything put together properly and I primed it correctly. Now I bought it from a shop that discounted it cuz it’s so old since newer versions have come out. Do you think coil can be too old to function properly. I opened the top and noticed the coil is a little brown and gunky so I cleaned it with a qtip. If I lower it to 40w it doesn’t happen but I get nothing at that wattage.

This is the .25 coil. I first poked 3 holes in each side cotton panel with a needle. I then put a few drops of juice on the coil, place a napkin over the top and blow into the coil pushing all the juice down. I do this until I see that the side holes are wet. I then add juice to the cotton on the side holes, blow again and wipe off any excess juice.
Once that is done I fill up the tank and take 5 dry hits with the airflow closed and let it sit at least 30 min. I then reduce wattage to 30w and hit the fire button to do 5 quick hits with the airflow open. I then start vaping by slowly increasing wattage over a few hours. I usually vape around 55w. I vape lung hits about 2-2.5seconds long. I try to wait 10-20 seconds in between hits but I was a long time smoker so sometimes this is challenging. My juices are 70/30nicotine 3mg.
Try filling the top of the coil up with juice, waiting for it to drain into the center of the coil, and watchowa it wick away into the cotton.
Do this until the juice sits on top of the coil and doesn't wick in anymore.
You'll know when it's fully juiced.
Then you will have to do the dry hits thing and you'll be ready to vape.
That's the most effective way to prime a crown coil. I used to sell them and set people up with them. Trust me, there's a lot more cotton in them than it seems. And it's getting packed.
I've heard of the needle method before, but IMO it's unnecessary. Just do it the way I described and it will work fine.
So I have filled from the top only but when I saturate it to the point of having juice sitting on the top of the coil it’s ends up leaking or spitting juice in my mouth.
possibly when poking with a pin might have messed up the coil
I prime all heads before installing them into the base so that any excess liquid from priming doesn't end up in the airflow chamber.
Do you see bubbles rise from the wicking holes occasionally?
Have you tried other heads?
You / your liquids just may not get along well with the .25.
Dark or colored and especially sweet liquids tend to clog wicking & gunk coils rapidly.
The crown is the most forgiving tank I've ever used, they just work, the heads last a good while with almost any liquid.
If you're experiencing the same problems as before now with the crown, I'd lean toward liquid quality.
The answer to that is try different liquids or use an RBA of some sort so you can change wicking & clean coils instead of replacing heads.
But, the crown should work well even with goopy gunky liquids, head life will suffer, should still get at least double the life as most others.
