Hey,
My Mom has been a smoker since she was 16. She is now 70.
She did try an e-cigarette but she says she has to work too hard to get anything out of it.
I don't know what brand it is, it comes with a rechargable unit and is black with I think a small green leaf emblem to mark the brand.
I really hate to see her give up so quickly on something that has worked for so many.
Price is not necessarily a consideration...but she needs something that works. I don't know about taste issues- she smokes True 100's I think.
Any advice is helpful.
Thank you!
Melissa

Melissa, Hi.

Your mom is probably making the same mistake i made when i first tried an e cig. I was sucking for all i was weorth but i couldn't get nothing out of it..or certainly not enough.

What you gotta get your mom to do is to take a long slow drag on the cig. Very slow. Then she'll get the sought after "hit" on the back of her throat. And she'll blow a lot of smoke/vapour.

I really hope you can work this out with her. This is by far the easiest time i've had when trying to quit. It's actually a pleasure.

Please please keep us updated. Ask questions. Everyone will want to help.

I think Del Boy is correct, take a long slow drag (ten seconds with moderate pressure). I use a 3.7 volt, with a regular (small) 510 battery. I get a massive "hit" if I take a long slow drag. No need for a larger battery (though for all day use with fewer charges, that would be better), or higher voltage (from what I've heard causes a burnt taste). VG juices give more vapor, but that doesn't necessarily mean a better "hit". Some flavors and additives, higher nic levels and higher PG percentage give a stronger throat hit with less noticeable vapor than a high VG percentage.

Having said that, some small ecigs are really crappy. Blu, my first ecig, comes to mind. It really doesn't matter how you vape a Blu, the cartos just don't work well, and the batteries are uniquely small. She may want to upgrade to a higher quality device, but should try vaping long slow drags first. I recommend the Halo element to anyone that wants a small cigarette sized device, and the eGo for someone that wants a larger capacity battery.

It sounds like she might vaping a Green Smoke, I'm not familiar with them.

Actually, it could be Blu, I just looked a fresh new Blu carto that had been gathering dust, the little removable tab has a green leaf on it. If it is a Blu, I'd recommend she get something new.

Hello and welcome. It is really nice of you to help your Mom. Maybe if you have her sit with you while you are online with us, she could answer some of the questions we will need to know in order to steer her in the right direction. Please let her know, with the right set up, she can do this and they work. Look at the thousands of members here on ecf.
Let us know how we can help her and keep us informed.
:)

My father's 60 and smoked since he was a teen. He had open heart surgery at 48, quit smoking and started again. He had another heart attack at 59 and quit, but ended up pestering my brother and me for cigarettes when we were smoking analogs. Since he's been sneaking cigarettes I let him try my pv, hoping I can get him to like that instead and order it for him with 0 nicotine since it seems to be t he habit he misses. He hacked from it. He'll sit and smoke an analog and be fine yet he ne time he drags from the pv he coughs and gags. Isn't that odd. I hope your mom don't have the same reaction when she gets the draw she wants. I think because his lungs are so damaged from all those years of smoking that their sensitive to a vapor or something. Boggles me.
