The article was submitted to the journal in October of 2011, accepted in December of 2011, and finally published in the January 2013 issue.

Several ECF members were participants in the study.

I've been waiting for this to come out, but it appears you have to be a member to read the actual study.
I believe that individual nicotine level results are reported, and I was looking forward to reviewing that information.

It seems it is pay only if you want to read the full text of that article. Here's the pubmed page for it Electronic cigarettes: effective nicotine d... [Nicotine Tob Res. 2013] - PubMed - NCBI If you bookmark that page you might check back later as some publishers do occasionally offer free full text pdfs of articles that are pay-access usually, but I've never seen that publisher be one of the ones to give out free full texts.

This is another link for a database that may have full text (might not) and that claims to have free registration to see it. YMMV.

Tom, did N&TR give you any explanation why it took them so long to publish the article in the print version?

Elaine: I don't think an explanation is necessary. The time period between online and print publication does not seem unusual for this or any other journal with which I am familiar.
