I went into this E-thing thinking I would use it to lower my cigarette count per day. One week in and I quit Analogs. It's been a week without an analog, no cravings to speak of. I just hit hubby's high power and get dizzy. My new order of Liquids went from 18mg to 11mg. Can't taste any difference I am hoping to hit 0 nic in a few months. I really think the flavors are the key to both quitting analogs and lowering nic.
In the fullness of time (6 months) I hope to e-cig free. Mike said he couldn't believe I did this so stress free (He means his stress not mine). But then again He hasn't seen the visa bill..HIS stress will go ballistic! LOL
So who else has a plan or maybe a hope?

So much like my plan, Mary Kay!

My original plan was to cut down on analogs as well. I had no idea I'd be able to cut them out completely so quickly! I started vaping 2 weeks ago and had a partial pack left, so I did both for several days until I ran out. Then, on my birthday, quit the analogs completely until I developed hives and stopped vaping for a few days. Now I'm vaping again, no analogs for 2 days now.

I'm hoping to be down to 0 nic within 3 months and although my plan is to be e-cig free in 6 months, I'll see how that goes. That's my HOPE, anyway. :)

I'm also trying to alter my "psychological habits" as well. I only vape when I need a hit. I don't hold the e-cig when I'm not vaping and when I vape, I hold it like a cigar...LOL. I'm trying to curb vaping when drinking coffee, alcohol (difficult) and talking on the phone. All of those things you are supposed to do when quitting smoking, I'm trying to do while vaping.

I can say one thing with absolute certainty...this has been the ONLY way I've ever been able to quit analogs!

:D

Wildsky, I still have a parital pack and a full pack of analogs. I will not make the major mistake of saying I will NEVER touch another cigarette again. That's a sure fire way of feeling like a failure if you do have one. If I want one fine, if not fine again.
I just go one day at a time and know if I have one: the world will not stop spinning, I will not lose any points and for that matter nobody even needs to Know!! These are MY goals and hopes and dreams.
Are you using a high nic value? Or do you mean you need More power like a screwdriver (from what I understand from Trog)
BMac, Happy Belated Birthday! The only real habit I changed was to not vape menthol. That was too close to what my analogs tasted like for 37 years.

MRL! You are the first person I have spoken to from New Zealand!! Now you know how sheltered I am. Lol You would think after living in Florida most of my life, working in the hospitality industry and being very nosy, (Stickybeaked as an Aussie once told me) I would have at least met someone from NZ? Maybe I did and didn't realize it.
I am sure costs will settle down once you get into your comfort zone. That is having enough stuff to last until hell freezes over or until customs stop everything before the bootleggers get in place.

I'm still partially on analogs, so my plan is a little more long term........... I really think I need an e-cig with a better KICK - more power!!! I'm using a 901 right now... its great but there are just those times I just want MORE MORE MORE

See, I'm thinking the opposite. If I buy more analogs, it will be one of those awful 2 dollars a pack ones. I figure it I buy awful analogs, it will make ecigs even better!

Well, even if the start up cost is pretty high, I am sure that the cost that you would be saving in the long run will be amazing and make the start up cost worth it.

I was smoking a pack a day before I started vaping, and in Houston, TX my packs cost about 6 dollars each. I don't personally plan on quitting vaping all together, but I know in the cost I have already saved at least $35.00 already. (At least according to my little counter.) That to me is a big deal.

You could always just hide the Visa bills ;) At least until your e-cig pays for itself!

What level of nicotine are you using in your juice. I know I am going through a **** ton of juice right now since I went off cigs completely, but the only nic concentration they had when I got mine was low... I went from Malboro Red 100's to vaping cold turkey.

I have ordered some liquid with more punch, and I am hoping that sates the rest of the cravings I have.

The only hope I have right now is to be able to get off these stupid analogs :(

I read so many posts of people getting their first ecigs and instantly quitting and I was so hoping that would be my story. But, here I am almost 4 weeks in and I'm still smoking these disgusting things. I did great the first week, went from almost 2 pks a day to about 5 a day. But, by week three things went down hill, maybe the novelty of the ecig wore off or maybe I'm just an idiot :(. I'm smoking about 10 analogs a day now, which I guess is better than two packs, but still :nah:

Oh well, one day at a time right :(

I started just to make it easier on long haul flights, hotel rooms and my car etc. I never intended to stop smoking but found unexpectedly that I was reducing my intake from around 25 cigarettes a day to about 5.

That was great for a while but now I am smoking between 5 and 10 and think I probably need to concentrate more on using the ecig instead of absentmindedly just picking up a cigarette.

There are times of the day when the ecig just doesn't quite cut it but some of the cigarettes could be replaced by the ecig and like you I am definitely taking this just one day at a time. I smoked so much for so long this has to be an improvement.

Hi, two packs a day to 10 a day is a really big step. You should be proud of yourself. Just keep going at your own pace. The first thing that happened to me was I stopped smoking in the car, and running outside at work to have a smoke. Don't be too hard on yourself, cutting down from 2 packs is a winning situation!

So far that has been Mike's story (hubby), 2 packs a day now 1 pack. I am NOT complaining! He has a few major health problems and I know part of his stress is being afraid of having to go in the hospital sans cigarettes. Now he knows he can just sneak a drag of his PV and remain calm. I am really proud of him. He started smoking at 12 and has smoked for 50 years.
No one was more surprised then me by quitting analogs 8 days into PV's.
I have new flavors (fruit tyes) coming and hope this keeps me on the wagon. Does anyone sip the vapor? I take a long drag at first but after that I just sip..like a pepsi! LOL
I found a trick to help the analog craving, I wear a 901 on an eyeglass cord loaded with ry4..my new fav flavor. I also put my analogs on a shelf that means I have to go to the other end of the house to get them...did I mention I was lazy?
Silky Vapor, 1 less analog a day is an improvement! Hang in.

Yep...keep the analogs as far away as possible. I kept mine in the garage.

Awwww, you all are so sweet

Thank you so much for the support! I'm gonna keep trying every day and hope that each day gets a little easier.

Putting the analogs further away is definitely a good idea! Most of the times I catch myself lighting one just out of habit (actually I look at the lit cig between my fingers and wonder when I lit it ), so maybe if I have to get up every time I want one I'll grab the ecig instead... MAYBE :(

All the wonderful stories on this forum and all the support does give me hope, so that's a lot more than I had 4 weeks ago :D

Thank you all again for the encouragement and kind words :)

Silky-Don't beat yourself up, from two packs to ten analogs a day is a big deal. :) I'm also 4 weeks in, smoked a couple of analogs a day for about a week then quit and am now just vaping (but I only smoked about a half pack a day). Try this....put the pack of analogs in the trunk of your car. If you live upstairs like I do, it's even better. :sneaky: Keep on keepin' on!

I have no plans to quit vaping. I've found that there is a lot less internal guilt in this than smoking cigs. I always knew what a bad habit smoking was (I have family in medical occupations everywhere), my husband's father died from emphezema <nasty> and he's been after me to quit for the last 15ish years....

I'm convinced that vaping the PV does keep some airbourne nasties at bay.....there was a rampant cold running through our office, one really nasty bug - weeks of coughing and sneezing, with the general body aches and all that rot... long story short, everyone in the office picked up the bug but me, and before I vaped I would have been the first to get it.

I only vape the low strength liquids (36mg scares me silly!!!) and my plans are to get to the zero nic before the end of the year.

:D I "roll my own" or stuff cig tubes, (a heck of a lot cheaper) and really its a PAIN to be making them every time I want one, and they really don't hit the spot like my old cigies did. Everytime I make one and smoke it, I wonder afterwards what the point was. 8-o
