The only hope I have right now is to be able to get off these stupid analogs :(

I read so many posts of people getting their first ecigs and instantly quitting and I was so hoping that would be my story. But, here I am almost 4 weeks in and I'm still smoking these disgusting things. I did great the first week, went from almost 2 pks a day to about 5 a day. But, by week three things went down hill, maybe the novelty of the ecig wore off or maybe I'm just an idiot :(. I'm smoking about 10 analogs a day now, which I guess is better than two packs, but still :nah:

Oh well, one day at a time right :(

15 weeks for me & I'm the same, still on about 10 analogs a day:( so, yeah one day at a time Silky;)

Putting the analogs further away is definitely a good idea! Most of the times I catch myself lighting one just out of habit (actually I look at the lit cig between my fingers and wonder when I lit it ), so maybe if I have to get up every time I want one I'll grab the ecig instead... MAYBE :(

Thank you all again for the encouragement and kind words :)

OMG Silky, that's exactly what I do. Been beating myself up on that one, feel better now I know I'm not the only one:hubba:

Cas, from what I am reading there are three types of vapers. The ones who get the new "Toy", try it for a week then decide that it's too much trouble and quit using it. There are the ones who can use it for 5 minutes and get off analogs. But then there are the rest of us. We have to ease on over to the land of OZ. I think we may be more hardwired for analogs then others.
We can do it, if we stay on tract and really commit to being smoke free. Make a plan of action and try to stick to it, reward yourself often when reaching a milestone of a week, day or month of smoking less analogs. Give your body time to ajust between goals.

Its not easy thats for sure, I yo-yo'ed a bit, my son got really ill and was in hospital for a week, at that point I bounced right back onto the analogs (beginning of April) Once he was home again I climbed back on the e-cig wagon got myself back down to the 5 a day and then totally quit on the 26th.

It's getting a little easier each day, I really don't want an analog, but I do want a better e-cig! LOL
I just purchased the I-Inhale, in case there is a ban or anything I'll have emergency back up and the fact it doesn't use these STUPID batteries and atomizers!
I think the I-inhale will stop me from VAPING all day long, and I'll have to vape like an analog worth and then turn it off. I don't know if that will help at all or not, but I'm going to go there and try!

It took me 6 months, but I finally made it. I've now been analog free for 2 whole weeks.
This is the first time in more than 40 years that I have managed this without running out of space in my "bitten off heads" closet ;) . I'm not antsy, grouchy or plain old hostile at all.
I'll never go back to analogs, anyone trying to take my ecig away from me had better count their fingers before and after

Wildsky...pretty much the same thing happened to me. I got stressed and grabbed a cigarette. After I smoked it I felt terrible that I had done so and also had that nicotine buzz like when I first smoked one....but, I didn't feel bad enough to put them down completely again. I figured "well, I blew it...just as soon finish the pack."

When I got my e-cig, I had just bought 4 cartons (month supply) and I had ony hoped to cut back. If anyone had told m that I would quit that easy, I would have never believed it. Anyway, after two weeks I gave the cartons to my dad. I thought about how in the past, I would have freaked knowing I had no cigarettes in the house... and it didn't bother me one bit.

After my "set back," I still had cigarettes in the house and soon realized as long as they were there....I was going to take one. Now I don't keep cigarettes in the house and I am fine with just the e-cig. I hope it continues...................

I hear that Cas, My husband is still smoking a pack a day..down from 2 packs. Yay!
Mom is smoking her usual pack a day and has been for nearly 70 years! She is going on 86. She can't breathe well, has emphysema, lost one lobe of her lung to cancer, coughs all the time and is having trouble lighting the cig. I gave her a BBQ lighter (one of those long ones) because she can just push the button and I got tired of running in to do it for her. She had to move in with me due to her weakness from smoking and old age.
I have given her one of my PV's to try (several flavors including tobacco) she likes the novelty but doesn't like the vapor.
She and hubby are the main reason I want to quit. I have tried many times and can't because of their smoke. Both have lung problems. Mike also has had a triple bypass. He lit up 2 seconds after leaving the hospital. Mom lit up 1 second after her lung surgery, she actually smoked in the hospital bathroom!. Both are dying by inches. I don't want my kids to have to deal with my assorted illnesses from smoking.
I can't even smell their smoke through my vapor fog!

We got our ecig about 3 weeks ago. My BF was done with analogs within a week but asked me to by a carton before he was done. He is now down to 0 nic for a part of the day but I think that was in part because he was vaping so much and made himself sick. LOL Me I have alot of stress in my life right now and this carton sitting here and D@MNED if I'm gonna throw them out. So I'm down to about 5 a day from a pack. I've smoked for about 25 years now so I'm happy about the prospect of quitting. I don't cough any more, I can taste things more, I rarely stink now, and look forward to a analog free and nic free future :)

No you're definitely not alone Cas... it made me sick every time I looked at my hand and saw an analog there that I didn't remember lighting...grrrr
I'm now down to 5 a day since a couple of days ago... let's see if it holds. I've been trying to keep the analogs in the kitchen so it's an effort to go get one. Still one day at a time. Hopefully, we'll all get there in time. Fingers crossed :)

That's great MaryKay, I wish him luck. :)

You know the worst thing about my other half? A few years ago he quit smoking for about a year & I'm sure he feels stupid for starting up again.

But, on a good note he does say he will try vaping soon, guess he's waiting to see how I get on. I can see him sitting there:pop: every day:rolleyes:

Excellent thread ladies. I'm new here, and have yet to get my ecig in *likely Monday* but I've been reading everything I can in this forum. I'm a bit nervous about giving up my cigs but I'm determined to give this vaping a serious try. You all sound so encouraging. Reading what you all have said makes me feel like I can do it too. Thanks

I managed about 5 yrs ago to whittle myself down to 1 to 2 cigs a day using the patches so I'm hopeful that ecigs will help. I kept that up for 6 months but as life would have it, something very stressfull happened in my life and I went back to smoking again. A big part of it for me is oral fixation I know.. anyway thanks to all for inspiring me. :)

Welcome Cori, I think you have it backwards! It's us that admire you for taking one look at this board and not running away screaming "are you kidding me!".8-o
It's daunting to try to wade throgh 2 1/2 to 3 years of advice, stories and dare I say it..data? I applaude you.
I have only been on this board for about a month. Some have been here since Smokey Joe started it. I have found on days I just want an analog so bad my teeth hurt that a hour or so reading and posting helps keep me on track.
Don't worry about quitting, just go with the vaping and try to get into it. The analogs will begin to taste yucky, to hurry that along replace your brand with some awful cheapo brand. Put your analogs somewhere out of the way, or you will find yourself reaching for them out of habit.
You are going to have some problems with your e-cigs, don't sweat it. Hold on it gets better.
Post , read and enjoy yourself. keep us informed on your progress.

Hi Cori and welcome! :) I'm still a noob to vaping and can relate to your nervousness. I'd failed at every attempt to quit analogs. What I didn't expect when I started vaping is that it took away most of my desire for analogs.

However, due to a bad, and I mean BAD outbreak of hives, I stopped vaping for awhile to see if that might be the cause. Of course I went back to analogs during that period but was pleasantly surprised to find that I was only smoking half of what I normally did. When my hives continued during that hiatus, I decided to start vaping again as I couldn't see it as a cause. I finished out my pack by having a couple of analogs a day until they were gone. That was a week ago and I'm fine and if, in the future something happens to all my attys and batteries at once and I'm without a PV , I will be fine then too, knowing that it's only temporary.

Just like Mary Kay said, don't worry about quitting. You'll soon find out what works for you. Good luck, and we are all here for you!

:D

My suggestion is "don't think about quiting". I bought mine as an alternative. I have smoked less and less analogs as a result. With my personality if I "think" about quiting, I smoke more. That give yourself a quit date crap doesn't work for me, I'd be two days away and smoking twice as much.

You described me to a T. When I ran outa juice I chain smoked anologs to no end. I didn't start vapin to quit smoking, I just wanted to be able to do it in a smoking prohibited place...my store. I find now that quitting anologs is a real possiblity and I'm excited about it. Someone posted the advise of not setting a date or beating your self up if you 'slip' so that's what I'm trying to do. So far today, 1 anolog, that's when I first wake up, gotta have that blast! Maybe tomorrow it will be a vap instead. BTW Welcome!

I have been vaping since January and I am down to zero nic since 2 weeks ago and it seemed SO easy! I lowered nic levels a few MG at a time and it worked so easy. I did sleep a bit much when I went from 3 or 4MG to zero... but other than that... seemed effortless.

I will likely NEVEr stop vaping though.. I need to have SOME kind of addiction! I don't drink alcohol or coffee or use any recreational drugs... so I will continue vaping for as long as I am able!
