What would be a good replacement for the pins if they were all lost? Beauticig should think of selling those separately. It is funny how you said you lost a pin in shag carpeting, my "workshop" is my master bedroom sink/ vanity. I always drop my kanthal on the floor and have to search through strands of hair to find it. No fun.

I haven't had the need to replace any yet.
My new ones came with several extras and so far I have managed to find any I have dropped.
Todd mentioned he made some in one of his reviews.
I believe he used small drill bits and ground them to shape.

Yea, I get the looks with the Hero but I am 53 and really don't care.
BTW, the little watch pocket inside and at the top the right pocket of most jeans is perfect to hold the Hero upright and readily accessible.
I replace the drip tip o-ring with one that is really snug and can pull it out by the drip tip.

What kind of wick and coil setup are you using?

So, while I was out of town this weekend one of my Hero's decided to break.
I went to take a vape and the battery spring collapsed.
Took a quick check and the B+ atty deck part was hanging loose.
The threaded piece to it broke just like the other one did.

Fortunately I had 2 others and a genesis with me. (I like a variety of flavors)

Took it apart and left it on my desk yesterday.
Last night it occurred to me that the Dream BT804 sitting on my desk had the same atty deck.
Took it apart and a plan came together.
The B+ part of the atty deck has the same fine thread 4mm hole as the Hero.
It is held together with a wide flange hollow screw from below.
I cut the broken part off the Hero drip tip cup and drilled the hole out to fit the BT804 screw.
Also had to enlarge the plastic piece it goes through just a hair.
Put the BT804 screw through the cup from the drip tip side and sure enough it is long enough to thread into the B+ atty part.
So a part from a $16 atty saved a $86 Hero Hybrid.
Anyone got a defunct or lonely BT804 laying around so I can fix my other one?

This is great stuff, Mundy. You've really put a lot of experimentation into these setups. I love all the description and pictures of what worked and what didn't and your thoughts on why. I'm going to have to try my hand at this magic wire sometime when my wife lets me spend yet more money on vape supplies. This month's tiny vape budget is already overspent and it's only week 2 lol. I guess diapers and clothes for the kids ARE more important after all.

Since I got converted to bottom feeders my Heros have been sitting lonely. I have a couple of Reos and a Dibi OliveR and am in the list for another. Thoroughly enjoyed them, but in my book a good bottom feeder with a good small chamber atty is superior even with all the mods I did. I really can't say that I had much trouble with keeping them working good with the cotton inside mesh and with the mods I did. It was during my quest to get the most out of these that I came up with Magic so I owe a debt to them, but I guess I should clean them up and post them in the classies since they just sit on my desk neglected.
