New member trying to kick my 3 decade, pack a day habit. Things are going okay, just have to do some fine tuning. I immediately bought a couple of Hohm Slices and put a Falcon on 1 and a innokin Zenith on the other. There was no transition time, I definitely prefer DTL. The only problem is the vape gets way too hot for me on sub ohms. The guy at the brick and mortar let me try his rda and it was fantastic, nice and thick, smooth and cool. I'm hoping to get to where I can recreate this on an atty. Anyway, it's great to be here.

Yeah, it seems like I might prefer above ohm vaping. There's just not that much out there for above ohm DTL. Looks like I'll be graduating to RTA early.
No need to go above 1 0hm, i use either a . 5 or . 6 0hm in my single coil rda and i get plenty of clouds while having barely any heat.

I might have a solution for you if you are looking for a cooler direct lung vape with a sub-ohm tank. It uses factory made, drop in coils.

The Original Uwell Crown Clearomizer Tank is a sub-ohm tank that has a wide range of MTL to DTL adjustment. At the present time, Uwell offers a 1.2 ohm coil for higher ohm vaping (10 - 30 watts recommended). I've heard rumor that Uwell may be discontinuing the 1.2 ohm coil; if that is the case then the 0.5 ohm coil should also do the trick.

I prefer a cooler vape myself, and use the 0.5 ohm coil at 30 watts. I usually use the tank adjusted for wide open for DTL draw.

Well your Home Techs should do TC fairly decently, one option that a lot of sub0hm vapers choose is to use temperature control (this requires the proper type of wire, most folks use stainless steel these days but you can also use titanium (cannot dry burn it) or nickel (similar, you really have to be running your TC vape correctly for that function.)

If you are not ready for an RTA yet, I think Baditude has given you a great tank suggestion, as I believe some of the drop in coils are constructed out of stainless steel, so you can try TC which will cause your vape to maintain an even, safe temperature that YOU choose as one that works for you. It's some additional setup time, but it's well worth looking into and learning about.

It is also entirely true that you can turn down your wattage, or more ideally get a slightly higher ohm coil, and turn down the wattage, and that may do the trick for you.

Finally, if you've decided MTL is not for you and you want to go sub0hm all the way, if you get the Crown Uwell Original tank, you can continue vaping your falcon on the other. Quite often, chain vaping will overheat a tank ,so if you have tanks to rotate that may help with your problem.

Good luck, welcome to ECF, and I hope you continue vaping that's fantastic and congrats.

One thing i noticed is if I dont have my lips completely around the drip tip, my lips will get really hot. The right way is to put your lips around it completely..... lol... i use the falcon tank too. Make sure your air flow is wide open also . What watts are you vaping the falcon tank and what coil? I can vape the m1 as low as 59 watts

Thanks for all the help. I ordered the Crown with a box of .5 coils. Right now I'm vaping the M2 coil at 60w and I think TC will really help but I believe the M1 and M2 coils are Kanthal and my mods have old firmware. Until I can figure out how to upgrade the firmware, I think SS is the only way I'm going to be able to get a cool vape.

Apparently tongue in cheek works as well.:D

If vapor travels up the chimney, into your mouth, and is still hot, that means that excessive energy was used to transform that liquid into vapor. While that might be easier to avoid with temperature control mode, it should also work with wattage mode. Just lower the settings until the vapor gets cooler.
