Hi all,

I have been a smoker for about 30 years now. I have chronic asthma and feel its time to stop killing myself. The first time I heard about e-cigs was that commercial for American Blue Tip who wants to rope you into a free trial, and well you know the story. Luckily I did some research and avoided them. Anyhow, after reading many forums, e-cig websites, videos, listening to stories Iam so confused I may have a nervous breakdown lol.

What I am hoping to find is something that tastes and feels just like a regular Canadian blend cigarette like Players or Du Marier. I really need help trying to understand and wrap my head around this whole idea of e-cigs like what to buy, whats the best and lasts the longest, battery life ect. So I am hoping threw this forum to be fully educated in finding what I would like to buy for myself and my wife and finally quit smoking. So if there is anyone that would like to give me a hand in any way on guiding me threw this so I dont get wrapped up in a free trial scam or buy something that tastes like garbage or has a 1 minute battery life.

Thanks everyone

Ian

Thanks Bryan, Iam in Canada so I am looking for something that is close to Canadian blend. I tried smoking American cigs and if I had only those to smoke I would have quit lol. I tried the patch, gum, pill, ect and nothing helped, I am hoping and praying this is what will help me cut down and quit. I have 4 kids, I am 42 years old, and my lungs are that of a 65 year old. Not good.

After reading a few posts and watched Shawn from Zee Cigs vids on youtube, I learned they are just trying to scam me into a free trial. I felt rather depressed thinking there is no way I will get this e-cig, then I googled and found so much info I have information overload and confused as heck

A little over two weeks ago I was in the same spot as you. I decided to just jump in. I bought a joye 510 kit and figured I'd start there. The day it came in the mail, after the batteries were charged, I put out my cigarette and picked up the 510. I haven't had another cigarette since. Your in the right place here. Lots of people with lots of info. Good luck to you.

Thanks Joey. Being in Canada I have no idea whats available to me. I have 7 posts but still cant post in the Canadian forum. I hear the FDA being stupid and want to ban e-cigs but keep real ones (analogs I think is what you call them) legal. things that make you go hmmmm. I hope Canada doesnt experience the same strife. I just want to live long enough to see all my 4 kids get married and have kids.

I'm afraid I can't help you with Canadian stuff... but I do have a bit of advice. When you decide what flavor to buy. also get a non-tobacco flavor. Coffee, perhaps. Or something fruity. I don't think I'm alone in finding that tobacco flavors don't work for me as much as I expected them to.

edit: just saw your last post. It takes a while for the system to update or something like that. You'll be able to post soonish.

Welcome. sometimes it takes up to an hour for your posting numbers to reset. But once they do you can post in the other forums. You are, of course, always welcome to post here as well. You should be able to read the Canadian Forums already so maybe you can get some clue as to what is available up your way while you wait.

You may not be able to find a true replica of an analog - burning versus vaping creates an entirely different taste and smell. But if you like tobacco smells and flavors (e.g. pipe type) there are quite a few good ones. While I tend to go with tobacco flavors, don't be so quick to blow off other flavors. Personally I can't tolerate any of the melon flavors (make my mouth water and I feel a bit nauseated- but that is just me); however, I love K. Koffee and some other non-traditional flavors that I never thought I would.

You will probably be able to trade some, get free samples when you purchase, etc. and it can be a fun run. Enjoy and let us know how you are doing with your choices.

I cant wait to try it, I am so excited that I found this product. Like I said before the main reason why I want to stop smoking is to see my kids grow up and get married and have kids of their own. Right now I am puffing on an inhaler for asthma more then a cigarette. If I can find something that is close, or close enough that I wont want or need to have an analog I will be ecstatic. I was reading the Canadian forums, but that just made me more confused then I already am lol.

If there is a flavour that tastes like Tim Hortons coffee I would buy that in a second. I think only Canadians would understand that one lol.

Hi Iank1968 and welcome to ECF. You came to the right place. Let me offer some words of advice. A lot of us found e-cigs and had low expectations. It worked for us probably because of our low expectations. You've been lurking around here so maybe you have high expectations. You may want to temper that a bit as you go down this path.

Vaping ain't smoking but it is close. I would suggest you get an eGo or Joye 510 to start. There is a learning curve so plan on spending a week or two to dial in the equipment. I took me a week to ramp down on the analogs and switch completely to vaping. Don't be afraid of nicotine, start with 24 mg/ml. You can't cut that back if it's too much but not enough nicotine will lead to frustration. Beyond that, it's all up to you. If it takes a month to switch over, so be it. Every analog you avoid is a victory so view it like that. Good luck and god speed.
