Hey guys

My name is Chris and I'm from Glasgow. I received my e-cig in the post on Friday 6th and I have already quit smoking tobacco. Cig free for 4 days now and I don't even feel like I need one.

E-Cigarettes need to be pushed out there to show people there is a viable alternative to filling their lungs with noxious tobacco smoke. I have already rid myself of the sore throat and morning cough and I feel better already and its only been 4 days.

I'm glad I found this forum so I can continue to post and share my experience with E-Cigs and hopefully learn some new things myself from other more experienced members :2cool:

I also have a question. I had ordered my e-cig (I won't say where, I'm still not familiar with the allowances of posting links that could be potentially advertising) and it came with pre-filled 24mg cartridges. I have found these to be slightly too strong for me (I only smoked 5-10 cigs a day) and I have ordered some e-liquid 11mg drops. My question is, can I refill these pre-filled cartridges and if I can, what is the best way to go about doing this and how many drops will I need?

Also, is there a way of knowing what cartridges will fit what models (or is it a case of certain cartridges will only fit/work on certain models?)

I thank you very much for any responses and I look forward to posting in this wonderful forum :D

Happy E-Smoking everyone! :p

Chris.

Hi Chris, welcome to ECF! I flew into Glasgow the day the airport was bombed. What a nightmare that was. Probably my worst travel day ever. Even worse for everyone involved. Anyway...

You can refill your cartridges. If you just fill them without cleaning or replacing the filler you'll have some cross-over of flavors. It's usually not a big deal, but you may want to match whatever your refilling with a complimentary flavor. I can't imagine cinnamon and menthol being good together, for example.

To fill them, just drip a few drops on top of the filler. It will soak in. Keep doing that until it isn't soaking in anymore. You want the surface of the filler to look wet, but not be a puddle. if you get too much, just dab some off with a paper towel.

Not knowing what type of e-cig you have, it's hard to say what your cartridges will fit. They are usually compatible with other like models, so all 510 cartridges and atomizers will fit other 510 units, for example.

You can tell us where you purhased your pv (personal vaporizer) but won't be able to post links until you have five posts.

Hi Upinthehills!

Thank you for your great response. I purchased my e-cig from a company called "Icig dot co dot uk" It doesn't mention which model this is however, from looking, I expect it may be a 510.

Thank you for the instructions on refilling. I ordered the 11mg cherry ones, I think the current flavour may be Blueberry or something (I can't really tell - but it is very pleasant!). When you say the filler, is this the white cotton like stuff on the inside? And how would you go about getting that out of the cartridge itself as they seem to be fairly long and there is also some silver foil over the top before you open it.

Hollywood is talking about refilling cartomizers, which I don't think is what you have.

Yes, the filler is the white polyfill stuff. You can get more polyfill. (make sure it's not treated to be flame-......ent) I would think most places that sell sewing supplies will have that.

To get it out, just grab ahold of the filler with some tweezers and pull it out. Replace with an equal amount. You can also just rinse off the filler, dry it by mashing it between paper towels, and stuff it back in there. All of that said, I wouldn't bother if you're mixing blueberry and cherry. That might be kind of nice.

I did go look at the site you bought from and I can't tell what model that e-cig is. It is not a 510, the atomizer has a raised bridge that sticks up out of the atomizer and 510's do not. Hopefully, someone that knows what kind that is will come along.

Hi Chris. From the above description I don't think you're dealing with a 510 OR a cartomizer. If there is a metal foil over the end of the cart I suspect you have a model similar to the M-401, 402, 403 series. Refilling those is a little different. They don't use the polyfiber filler. They are a plastic cart with a smaller, foil covered plastic reservoir inside. To refill you straighten out a paper clip and poke it through the hole in the mouth piece popping out the inner reservoir. Refill this inner cup no more than 2/3 full and pop it back in. It's sometimes easiest to do this with a hypodermic needle. I've found these style carts to be kind of a pain in the .... myself. If this is indeed what you have I hope you find this post helpful.
Cheers.

Hi man. Thanks for this help. I think you may be right here. On the website of my particular model it does say you can refil the cartridges but no more than 5 times. Ill give everyones ideas a shot and see which works best. I am so happy to have found out about E-smoking. I coughed so much gunk out my lungs this morning that I couldn't believe and I can breath easier and even noticed someone stinking of stale tobacco smoke when they got on the bus this morning (my goodness, is that what we used to smell like?!) I just want to tell all smokers about these wonderful devices, tobacco companies shouldn't even be in business.

Happy vaping folks :2cool:

Hi chris,

I'm from Glasgow too, although I've lived in Italy now for 25 yrs.

I've been reading up on e-cigs for the last 10 days pretty solid (it is like a religion - lol) and from what I can see, beginners have 2 options. Get everything 'ready-to-go' (pre-loaded carts, etc), or read up on E-liquid techniques and experiment with the DIY side of things.

It probably depends quite a lot on how much time you have too. Seems to me that being an amateur chemist is quite time-consuming, but probably cheaper, more satisfying and more fun in the end. However, for people who have to work, it's not always an option, (I work, but I do it from home, so I set my own hours), and I don't see that you're any less of a vaper just because you don't mix your own juice.

Anyway, I've already ordered a lot of juice and flavors, so in a few days, I'm going to start my own juice production. I'll see how it goes.

How ye daein maclean :D I saw you in another post and wondered if you were indeed Scottish. I think you had the right idea moving abroad, I'm thinking of hopping over to Spain in 2 years time to live out there as Glasgow really isn't that great a place nowadays. Rain, rain and more rain, we haven't had a summer this year and the problems with neds/bams is just getting out of hand.

Hope life is treating you well in Italia.

See you around. :2cool:

Do it, chris. The best move I ever made was getting out of glasgow. And I say it not because I hate glasgow - it's actually ok - but just seeing how other people live is a great thing to do. I didn't plan on staying alll my life in italy, but I'm still here, and now living at 6,000ft in the Alps. (I couldn't stand Milan any longer!). Where I am now is like living in a postcard. People say I'm lucky, and that's true, but in this life, sometimes you have to make your own luck.

Neds & Bams - lmao - I used to live in Byres Road and when I was younger, we used to get chased by neds now and again. Glasgow's quieter nowadays, but I bet a good pair of trainers is still handy to have!
