Hi everyone, I'm new to vaping and from all the research I've done it seems incredible. I haven't actually started yet, but my starter kit should arrive either Tuesday or Wedensday. I ordered the Blu kit because it fit my needs and my budget, but doing further research, I might move on to another model if it works for me. I've been a smoker for 11 years and tried everything imaginable to kick the habit. I think this might finally be the ticket I need to ditch the cancer sticks once and for all.

Is it true that Volcano parts will work with a blu? Are there any other models that are compatible with Blu? Also, even though my body responds well to change, should I wean myself off tobacco or do you think It's better to just make the switch immediately? these are my only two questions atm.

Anyway, nice to be here, and here's to a hopefully awesome vaping experience!

Welcome Wolf

I also started out with Blu. It's not a bad unit. They helped me stop smoking, but I moved on from them within a couple of weeks because for me the battery life was too short, maybe lasting only 30-45 min before needing a charge. The Blu's are also compatible with 510 attys, carts and cartomizers. I found the 510 cartomizers to work much better than the Blu carts.

As for weaning or switching immediately, just let the process happen naturally. I still had a cigarette a day for the first 8 days, then they began to taste so bad I just didn't want one anymore.

Hope you hang around for awhile. There's a lot of good info to read, and really good people here that will answer any questions you may have.

When you say 'wean yourself off tobacco' do you mean 'give up cigs' or 'give up nicotine'?
You should really do what feels best for YOU on both counts imo - if you still NEED to smoke then do so - you should find that your craving for cigs grows less and less over the days that you vape (providing you got some halfway decent juice at a decent nic level).
Not every vaper gives up cigs on day one of vaping, and its fine if you don't either - work at your own pace, stepping down daily if you want or whatever feels most comfortable. Once you become a full time vaper (no cigs at all) then you can start working on lowering your nic level little by little (IF that's what you want to do, many do not). Do try not to compare your progress to others though because your life and theirs are not going to be the same, with the same stresses and situations.
Best of luck - oh there s a forum for blu owners on ECF as well - you'll find it here Blu Electronic Cigarettes

Thanks for the info guys, and I probably should be more specific about what I hope to get out of vaping. I first and foremost want to stop using cigarettes or any tobacco product eventually. I just can't justify putting all the carcinogens and tar in my body anymore. Second, I have a non-smoking spouse who hates the smell of tobacco smoke and I'm also fed up with smelling like an ash tray all the time. Lastly, I live a very stressful life and I do use nicotine to manage that stress. I'm fine being an addict, so long as I can cut most of the other harmful things out of my habit. I also enjoy the act of smoking, so anything that can let me puff, give me my nicotine, and cut out the risk of cancer is like a dream come true.

The other model I know about that is compatible with blu/volcano is the sidesho (note the weird spelling) from modernvapor. I have had a volcano for nine months (I've now switched to the magma/510 but still use the volcano sometimes) and it is pretty nice, but I have to say the cartridge design sucks. If you do get one of these, buy a small pair of tweezers as well, they will come in handy. And consider dipping or dripping rather than using the pre-filled cartridges. Keep a couple of spare atomizers on hand, it sucks watching the mailbox waiting for atomizers to arrive because your last one stopped working.

Personally I don't think any weaning is needed; I switched over completely on my first day and was smoke-free entirely for the next two or three weeks. I had a couple of situations over the past nine months, mostly early on, where I forgot to take my volcano with me somewhere or both my batteries were drained at the same time or (as mentioned above) I had atomizer problems... and I smoked a little. But I've now been continuously smoke-free for about four months, not even one drag from a cigarette. And the times when I did smoke were because of outside circumstances, not my body needing the tar and carcinogens lol. :)

Hey Wolf! Your in good hands here! I am still a newbie, got my kit from ModernVapor (the 902) and after 40 years of smoking the marlb reds, didn't pick up another analog and SO shocked, everyone IS different though, do what is right for YOU! Keep a pack on hand in case! But cigs where my 'lifeline' my best buddies, saw me through all my trials and tribulations and thought I'd NEVER leave them. HECK, I never have looked back and all my other 'lame attempts' lasted all of 12 hours...LOL...so this is HUGE for me....and your non-smoking other half will LOVE you for the change and not only that YOU will notice smokers more and the smell will be surprisingly disgusting! My car was an eye opener for me....ICK....I don't even have the urge to drag off my hubbies (except for to see how disgusting it was) LOL...and hopefully I will 'convert' him as well.

I'm looking into upgrading already, so read on and get a model and listen to the posts what I find I need is MORE batt life, I'm switching mine over every hour and I think my PCC is dying because of it....AND I want something that I can drip with, I put a few ddrops on my atty right now as is, so don't think dripping will phase me too much, but want something with more of a kick.

I don't mind having an addiction, come on we ALL have at LEAST one addiction, whether it is shopping, drinking, soda, everyone has SOMETHING and if I'm saving 3,997 chemicals from entering my body hey why not AND the nic helps me from becoming one of the wicked witches flying monkies, so people will still like me...LOL...and I can actually smell my perfume...lol....

ONE bit of advice I CAN give, be sure to have two atty's, 2 batts, lots of carts and plenty of juice (if you can afford 3 atty and 3 batt even better) Get a quick charger, the PCC's are nice but once I upgrade, I will do away with the PCC and use a USB passthrough and a quick charge...I even saw one that could charge 10 batteries at once...YEAH!

Good luck, I think you will find this as surprising as I have. My hubby thought it was just another 'wim' of mine, but is surprised I haven't picked up a smoke yet!

Vape on!
