I may have been born but a few weeks ago into the "vaping as a past-time" idea, as much of the experience I've previously had were with 'cig-a-likes':

- the "e-cigs" brand, which gave me hope that I might actually be able to quit my nasty 5-year tobacco habit before I progressed into adult life (yep, started young. I know I'm not alone in that, and I've got to give it to all you vapers currently kicking or who have kicked multiple-decade habits- much inspiration from y'all has gotten me this far) As far as that brand goes, their flavor was sub-par, but their no-nic carts got me into the idea of cloud chasing before I knew it was a thing. I'd burn out two a night just taking three or four of the longest draws the hardware would allow in one inhale. Fun stuff.
- Graduated to nJoys, flavor was despicable by my standards, nothing I'd ever pass up a Cowboy Killer for
- MarkTen next, where I found out that vapor with flavor existed, but the carts burned up like matchsticks- really, really expensive matchsticks. I was flaming mad.

Finally, about two weeks ago, I got a CE4 w/ a Clearo, along with three bottles of juice- Blue Hawaiian and some generic tobacco at 24mg, and one lemon juice flavored one from a friend who informed me it was house juice from the B&M in our town. No idea what strength it is, I just use it for flavor mixing.

The Clearo ....e itself to death not three days later, and I was back on analogs for a week. I felt then, more than ever, that they had me more than I genuinely desired them.

Went to that same B&M in person yesterday, picking up an eGO ONE with the short battery (in a wonderful black) and craft-glued a silver king cobra to the side of it, which has been a plan for my first 'decent' vape ever since I first saw a box mod used in my friend's car.

Either way, it's day two of not a single analog from a PAD (or 1/2PAD on good days) and I can certainly tell that there are things my body wants that it's not fully getting from vaping, as much as I love my current flavor mix. Might be a bit shy on the nic, might just be a hell of a bad breakup with tobacco cigarettes. Either way, I'm planning to stick it out for the long run.

Can't tell if this is rambling or not, honestly, as a phone screen isn't the most convenient way to converse on a forum. I used to be a general mod on a few community forums, long faded into nonexistence, and mobile layouts always seemed to lack for me. I also apologize in advance for any typographical errors or rudimentary formatting for the same reasons.

Either way, I'm glad to be a part of such a great community- been lurking since I got home with that first CE4. :)

Welcome!! Yes, I would bet a computer-sized monitor would make things easier.

Look at the Stickies in the New Member forums, some good info. Once you get the 5 posts, many sub-forums open up for chatting specifics and research.

Just for me, but I found that quality materials lends to better end result and that isn't necessarily costly. I like the Innokin mods and ones with DNA or YiHi chips.

For toppers, there are just so many. I did well with the Aspire Nautilus and factory-made coils.

A lot of good people here, and a lot of info to search, too.

Happy vaping! (it is a lot better than smoking)

Thanks, frenchfry! Especially for someone wanting to work in the IT field, a keyboard only three inches across just doesn't cut it. :p

I'm sticking with my little eGO ONE until I can peruse my local B&M more- even if their prices aren't the most competitive, their house juices are to die for and they've got a pretty good general selection to get an idea of what's on the market.

The worker was trying to tell me about an iVic, I believe it was called- an adjustable-temp box that I believe I've read a few places on here has some pretty useful 'bells and whistles' (something about a puff counter, IIRC). I would have gone that route, but at the time it's just a little bit out of my price range.

I'm tied between that box and the idea of a fully mechanical mod, as I've heard the latter has its own intricate strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for the reply, and I agree wholeheartedly that vaping beats smoking- I eagerly anticipate things like food tasting better, and being able to register smells properly, and actually smelling like a civil human being and not Cowboy Killer Red with hints of teenage angst. ^_~

Hello and welcome to the forum @Rave-Drops. Glad to have you here!:)

Joyetech eVic VT is the mod you were referring to. Pretty inexpensive for a temperature control mod. Gets great reviews. One small problem (and not everyone has had this happen) is that it sometimes kicks out of TC mode. Here's a review: PBusardo - Joyetech VT

As far as mechanicals go, not a whole lot of reasons to use them these days with all the high powered box mods available. Most of my tube mechanicals have been put away but I still use some of my unregulated bottom feeding wooden box mods. If there was room in the box I would have someone mod one of them with a DNA 200 or a YiHi SX350J chip.

Welcome to the forum Rave-Drops! We all offer our full support as you journey away from the "nails" and into the healthier alternative of vaping. As a note of encouragement, I smoked analogs (a pack a day) for over 25 years and quit during that period at least 30 times! I started vaping this past May and have not had an analog since May 6. This time, I am determined to be a true quitter! Vaping is a great hobby, ECF a great forum with outstanding folks, and life without the "nails" is certainly a healthier lifestyle. Good luck and enjoy!

Hello, @Rave-Drops and welcome to ECF. After 35+ years smoking and too many times that I tried to quit, I am really enjoying the vaping. I was able to finally put them down with an iTaste VTR and a Nautilus Mini. It is now an outdated mod, but it was perfect for me at the time. I would recommend that you research your gear and ask loads of questions. Take care and vape on.

Welcome. Just a suggestion that you get more than 1 set-up, mod and tank. That way if 1 is charging or fails you have a back up. There are a lot of good mods out there, check online as the local B&M's can be overpriced. I like the Kanger Subox Mini and it comes with a Subtank with RBA Deck so you can build your own coils or use the prebuilt coils. You may want to get a stronger nicotine juice to quell your cigarette cravings at least keep an extra tank with the strong stuff at the ready and then have your other tanks for lower nic days. Good Luck and Good Vaping

Thanks, everyone!

Hope to soon order a subtank or two to fit atop my eGO ONE, and perhaps by the time I've got a decent tank cache to fit my growing flavor obsession that eVic will be closer to my means :D

I vape at 24mg usually diluted to 1/3rd with other flavorings (no-nic) for a rough guess of 8mg.

I've recently fallen in love with the sub-ohm .5 coil that comes with the eGO ONE, though, as well as a uniquely fruity and creamy juice called Blue Balls at 4mg.

For craving bursts, I'll put a drip of 24mg straight down the coil. Other times, I'll just be blowing almost no-nic clouds with how diluted the juice is. :3
