Hi, i recently bought a e cig, the aspire bdc. I dont know very much about them but im having problems with the coils. The person in the shop said they last a week maybe 2 but im finding i get 2 - 3 days out of them before they become difficult to get a draw from. Having read forum posts and internet threads i decided to rinse them out in hot water hoping this would remove the gunk and therefore make them draw better. However, now they burn better but also produce a strong burnt flavour. Have the coils burnt out or are they just clogged ? how can i extend the life of them im only using a small 1.8 tank and filling it up every day max. it works great for a day maybe 2 then i regret ever buying it. Im using vaporized dekang liquid 80% pg 20% vg. Also what is the situation with dry burning the coils ? do i need to remove the casing for this?

Please help if possible

Thanks

James

yeah i do let it soak. my battery voltage cant be changed. the coils just get clogged so fast and washing it in boiling water produced the burnt taste. After it was tasting burnt from washing i decided to dry burn it and it still tastes horrible. is it possible it tastes burnt because i didnt let the coil dry properly after washing it or is it just ....ed haha

You need to dryburn the coil.
Dryburning will burn the black stuff off the silica wick and the wick will turn white.

Eventually the silica wick will fall apart, and you can rewick with cotton.

Eventually the coil itself will burn out because of corrossion and you need to recoil.

The alternative is to get a proper rebuildable which has alot more room to work with instead of a tiny coil head.

I also suggest getting the appropriate BVC coils. They're quite good. Though I've heard they'll go a week I've been rotating between 2 every 2-3 days. The one that comes out gets a hot tap water rinse then an hour bath in cheap vodka. Rinse again and let dry overnight. Working on week 2 for this set with no apparent loss in quality.

They'll go a week...and that's a good thing? Wow. I'm glad I never got near Nautilus, then. I get 2-4 WEEKS (depending on the juice) on SmokTech BCC heads.

I'm lazy. When a head gets gunked and the draw gets tight (or the vapor production gets crappy..) I throw it away and put in a new one. At $1.34 each, it's not a big deal.

James...

As far as I can tell, almost everybody is jumping ship to the BVC coils. £1.80 and you get a week.

I have them in a mini Nautilus, but if the new ones in the small tank are as good, things are looking up for all of us that suffer the dreaded "2 days before it's dead"...

Just be careful what you buy... not all BVCs fit all tanks. Got to be the correct ones for your clearomiser. :)

id happily throw it away if it lasted a week but every 2 days for £1.50 - 2 a coil is a rip off. others on reddit also recommended bvc coils so ill buy some of them. Any ideas why my bdc coils tasted burnt after washing them in boiling water when previously they were just blocked up? Cheers guys for the suggestions

after the burnt taste happened my liquid also got a burnt taste as i swapped the coil and it still tasted terrible so i swapped out the liquid with the new coil and it was fine

Sounds like you kept the old liquid in the tank while you washed and returned the coils? If the wick got gummed up to the point it wasn't actually wicking anymore you burnt the wick and/or caramelized the juice and then burnt that. Either way if there are cinders in/on your coil, wick or juice everything that follows will taste burnt until you remove the contaminate. Burnt toast will always taste burnt no matter how much scraping you do. Likewise, ever accidentally ash in your drink: it's done?

Are you using high VG juice, dark colored juice or very sweet juices? All of these seem to gunk up the works more quickly than the converse meaning you'll have to rinse or change out more frequently.

What mod are you using? Another possibility is you're running too hot.

i been using aspire for a few months because they are easy to change coils
but they seem very delicate on thick sweet liquids and run hot quickly,
so i use a light colour ( clear) juice with a vision spinner battery set to 3.5 volts
if i give it more then they get very hot.

thats just my setup though and the coil lasts for 10 days, and im a heavy vaper.
