Another outstanding, professional review of what appears to be an outstanding PV! [I very much admire and envy the ability you (and a handful of others) have to communicate so effectively in this medium.]

The only thing I would have added is a comment on the price – which is on the high side: $160 for that bare-bones kit (without batteries, charger, or atomizer). It certainly is worth it for all those features ... and for the build quality (I own the solid-as-a-rock, works-each-and-every-time ProVape-1). But some vapers (me included) would prefer a simpler (and sleeker) PV for half the price, e.g., the Infinity (which I have my eye on).

Scott,

Awesome review as usual and thank you so much for your contributions to the community. I find your reviews to be some of the best, most comprehensive, and useful reviews I have seen so far.

The only thing I would ask is: Why wear that horrific striped shirt bro? :)

(I'm just pullin' yer leg mate, but the shirt does need to go)

Cheers,
VMS

Scott. beautiful review as usual... a couple problems though....

1. when i first found ECF, i learned that most if not all so-called 3.7 PV's are not true 3.7 volt. In fact the eGo which is higher than the 510 ecig, tested at 3.1 true voltage, according to a knowledgeable poster here who inluded photo's of the meter readings.
So, the lowest range of the Provari, 3.3v, is a bit higher than most "3.7" pv's.

2. The IMR 18490 AW, recommended doesn't last me a day; it lasts me a couple hours max... yes i chain vape.... therefore i choose the extension cap and the 18650's which last a few hours. lol. (another thing i learned here is to measure batt usage by mil. of juice vs. time)

But none the less, a great review champ!

hi mate,

well this was something that ive been in deep discussion with via other forum members and youtube........and this video will probably explain it a bit better:-

i asked for peoples feedback about what they would like included and the vast majority felt that all that was needed was for me to include a current retail price.

i do understand your point though, but i had to go with the majority verdict ;)

hi mate,

yep, good points about the voltages..........but when i conduct reviews i try and record them so they can appeal to the experienced user as well as the complete novice who may have never even heard of an electronic cigarette before. if i went into every little variable it could end up being quite confusing for the beginner.

like you mentioned, they are generally known as 3.7v devices. so if i start saying "3.7v devices are not actually 3.7v, they are more like 3.1v..........oh, but when they have just been taken of the charger then they are usually around 4.1v but they will then drop quite quickly down to etc etc etc etc" then im sure a complete novice will be thinking "wtf???" lol :D

cheers

Abe Lincoln said that you can't fool all the people all the time. Well you can't please all the people (including me) all the time either. Your approach of considering the opinions of your viewers and then using your own best judgment is a sound course to take. [In the stuff I write, I usually skip the first part and go right to doing what I want to do.;)]

Great review. I think the price is about right for what it does in the market. The Darwin is it's class competition right now and it's at a higher price but you don't need to purchase a separate battery or charger so in the end they are virtually the same price.

The reason your not seeing the battery life you thought you would from the Mah spec is because the Provari is using a single 3.7 battery. A single 3.7 battery when being used at 3.7 volts SHOULD give a good guide on battery life with it's Mah spec. The Provari has to boost the voltage from a single 3.7 battery to deliver say for example 4.5 volts which a single 3.7 battery could never do by itself so that's eats into the Mah rating.

Wonderful review! After long grueling hours of reading I decided to go with the Darwin, but it was a CLOSE call and the Provari looks to be a very awesome PV. I really appreciate the high-def, as I haven't had an opportunity to go to a vape meet and see the Provari in action, and that this vid is as close as it gets without using one. I had wondered how the menu system worked.

Thanks again!

hi Scott, I know what you mean, but I am only into this about 6 months; and it wasn't long ago that i was a newbie; fresh in my mind...

Bear in mind the new "smart" pv's have made their push on to the market, with more to come... could be a "new wave" of PV's that will be the norm (? .. a topic itself that i'd like to know about- i.e. are "smart" pv's just a frivolous flirtation with tech fluff, or real practical innovation).

Whichever the case, basic voltage is something that was and is always in the forefront when going beyond your "first ecig"... there are so so many choices out there and for the hundreds of new vapers making that first step out of the initial ecig... they would do well to NOT have basic misconceptions along with the first step... which is what, i think, happens, for whatever reason this is the "norm" ... "3.7 device" a misleading term that sets ALL newbs on a confusing journey.

in other words mate, "WE WANT THE TRUTH" ! lol...
