Hi!
Well...before I start... I am a bit nervous because of my English but I hope it is ok Although I study English I am quite a little bit insecure talking to native speakers So please don´t kill me if i do anything wrong
I am a 25 year old girl from Germany and I quitted smoking in August 2011 and since then I am a happy vapor. I am also a member of one of the big German forums but international communication is a nice thing, precisely in times like these...
Some of you might know that we have a lot of trouble with politics concerning the e-cigarettes. Shops are shut down, they try to prohibit liquids (I hope you also use this word ) that contain nicotine and spread untrue and horrible information about e-cigs in our media...

In summer the EU parliament is going to decide what´s going to happen to e-cigs in whole Europe (also not sure how much you know about this )
Anyway, we try to fight and won´t give up.

Well at least I got one question: Am I allowed to post a link with a petition that is sponsored by ECITA Ltd and the EU vaping Community? We got about 14.000 signatures which is not enough.. at least we need 15000 signatures and time is running out, deadline is 7.3.2012. I am quite sure that everyone is allowed to sign the petition even if he does not live in the EU. Would be great if I could promote it here

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I applaud your efforts to keep vaping legal in your country. I'm not certain about posting the petition, but I will bump your post so a moderator can answer it

I'm sure we have a Germany forum here, after you get 5 posts you can start posting in there...and get probably gobs of signatures! Not sure whether signatures from the U.S. would help your cause, but if so I'd be happy to sign it!

I'm from that little country to your left and I've signed a lot of US petitions. I believe everyone on this forum, no matter their nationality, is willing to sign everything to stop a (future) ban on ecigs, wherever on this world.

Apparently, there has been some confusion about this petition. Sorry for not getting in touch sooner about this!

From the outset, the idea was to set up the petition and gain as many signatories as possible in time for whenever the EU decided to look at electronic cigarettes in terms of their regulation. As of today, the petition has 12,233 signatures, which is a tremendous achievement. Mercifully, new signatories are still being added every day.

Well, the moment is coming... SOON! We have been invited to meet with Commissioner Dalli at the European Commission on 7th March in Brussels, when he is having a meeting to discuss the proposed revisions to the Tobacco Products Directive. This will include his consideration of electronic cigarettes in that context, hence our having been invited to attend.

This is it, folks! I shall be able to personally deliver our petition directly to the Commissioner, precisely at the moment when he is looking at how electronic cigarettes should be regulated. (We shall, of course, be offering him our solution to that very issue at the same time, and have high hopes that we shall be successful in keeping ecigs out of tobacco classification for Europe, as well as clear of medicinal classification.)

So now is the time to sign - please! If you agree with the sentiments expressed in the petition, please do get on and sign it. This is one petition which is genuinely going to get to the intended recipient, at precisely the relevant moment. The wheels of government grind VERY slowly, particularly at the level of the EU, but this works in our favour - in so many ways - not least because the petition has had time to gather some serious momentum.

It's not too late! Please sign it, if you want the freedom to choose for yourself!
