Hey, Hey, to everyone !

I'm new to vaping and certainly new to the EC Forums.... Thanks for having me !

Did a slew of research before I did my first investment, and I went with the 801, and some supplies...[/SIZE=4]
That was a number of months ago, but I couldn't get it right. If I didn't get a good, or decent 'cloud' then, I would absolutely choke and cough my .... off ! ! !

I choked my .... off on almost every hit... and then I lost interest for number of months...
but the wanting to quit the analog smokes never subsided!!!!!

A friend told that there were some new 'Dual Coil' eCigs out there, and a light bulb lit in my head... !!! Maybe that's exactly what I need ! ! ... A better cloud from '2' coils might help.
Reading in these forums, I may have found some resolutions too...

I choked my head off on every hit!!! I called over to
Awesome Vapor, and Mary-Alice spent a lot of time with me personally. (Terrific crew over there!!!!) We tried mixing PG/VG to different levels (actually not sure where we left it in 3 different cartomizers), but that didn't seem to help much .. I don't think it was the actual answer to my severely, all-too-important, (used-to-be) unavoidable issue ... the head-ache slammin hacking every time I took a hit!!!!!

She also had me play with the 'draw' time... It appears, I was drawing 'too' slowly... 6-8 seconds. Evidently waaaay too slow.
Ya see ... I didn't realize exactly how these worked...

I thought that the juice was enveloping & surrounding the coils all the time.
Turns out, that 'drawing' action is what actually pulls the juice into the coil(s) to become vapor. Hence ... drawing too slowly I was making/leaving the coil(s) dry while trying to get a cloud. Every now and then I would get a decent cloud and I would not choke anywhere near as bad.

So I just wanted to share that nic concentrations are a part of it, but for the newbies out there.. play with how hard or soft, and long or short you draw.
I now am pulling harder and shorter (4-5 seconds) and I get a cloud everytime.
I still have to work on the nic level cause I cough but it's without a doubt a different kinda cough... certainly more of a throat cough than a lung cough.

Just wanted to share my resolution story and maybe it can help someone else.

Thanks !

Welcome to ecf. You sure did do your homework. Me personally, I use a 50/50 blend of pg/vg and get loads of vaper. I am not into a huge throat hit, so this mix is great.
One thing I would like to mention is drink, drink, drink loads of liquids. Vaping dries out your mouth and throat so it is very important to stay hydrated.

Happy vaping..
:)

Hi and welcome!!!!

Glad to see that you have resolved the issue you were having for the most part in regards to the draw. Definitely something that someone new to e-cigs will find helpful for sure. Drinking plenty of liquids is also important like Sugar_and_Spice mentioned!! One thing I would point out is that it will take your body (throat) some adjusting to vaping because its nothing like smoking or smoke for that matter. I think the fact that your still coughing a little bit is because its totally different from smoking and as time goes on, that will go away. As long as your not getting those dry hits like you were in the beginning your on the right track.

Good Luck and Happy Vaping!!

Welcome and Good Luck! I am sure you will be able to find tons of info here.... I like to vape sweets and they usually don't give much of a throat hit, which I don't like. A friend tried my Nport and coughed his lungs out, but he was fine with my sweet vape, absolutely NO cough... It's just that he didn't care for the sweet taste as he likes Newports....

Sooo, different flavors, nic strengths and voltage will all effect your throat hit....

Glad you came back to vaping, Welcome.
I still cough when I take too much.
40 yrs. of pulling on cigs. for all it's worth is why.

Different juices, strengths, hardware, voltages all play a part
in throat hit. Proper draw technique is paramount for each variable.

As thepassionofchad points out too even location can make a diff.
