So I have a Vision eGo Spinner 1300mAh Variable Voltage Battery and a Mini Protank V2 Tankomizer (1.8 Ohm).

I need to replace the atomizer in my Mini Protank, but I'm not sure exactly what Ohm rating I should be looking for... The 1.8 that came with it "worked", but I didn't really get a lot of flavour out of it, and I like the voltage to be set near max. Even after turning the little plastic thing inside the atomizer upside down, it still didn't improve the taste too much.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

With the mini, the issue is, likely, not the coil. 1.8 ohm coils will work just fine. The issue is more likely air flow. Please keep in mind that this is just an opinion because I don't have it in my hands. I would suggest either putting a adjustable air flow base on your mini or changing to an Aerotank or V2. I prefer the V2. The atomizer works like a very basic carburator. You need fuel, (juice), and air mixture. Getting plenty of fuel is easy. It's, normally, a lack of air that causes issues. Heating elements, (coils), don't have alot of gray area. They either work or they don,t. Adjustability is your friend. Being able to adjust both air flow and power will greatly improve your vaping experience. JMHO Hope this helps.

Welcome jongo!

I do like my Mini PT2. However, I've just become acquainted with the Aspire Nautilus (full-sized and mini) I *REALLY* like them both, and to Ed's point, I think it's because I can adjust the airflow on them. I rebuild my coils for the Mini PT2 (and my EVOD tanks), and I run about 1.8Ω on them, which is quite comfortable for me.

If you're looking for something new, consider the Nautilus Mini (however, I've not determined how or if these coils can be rebuilt.) One thing I'm thinking about is getting the airflow adjuster base for the mini PT2. If that turns out well, I may get a couple more Mini PT2s and start cycling the EVODs out of rotation.

Cheers

After reading what you've both said, I'm looking at getting a "KANGER MINI AIRFLOW CONTROL VALVE V2" and I'll just replace my atomizers with some more at the 1.8ohm rating. I don't really fancy splashing out on a new clearomizer just yet, gonna see what I can get out of this pro tank mini II for now.

Thanks for the insight.

Um... that won't solve your problems.

A 1.8ohm mini Protank shouldn't even be able to reach the top setting on your Spinner... it would most probably burn your coil into a black frazzle in under 10 puffs.

What/where are you buying this stuff? I suspect you have bought a clone and the heads are rubbish.

Really? Well I got the "Mini Protank V2 Tankomizer 1.8 Ohm - Clear - Single" from Liberty Flights and nothing has burned out yet. But I guess it's probably one of the reasons why I don't really get much flavour... Liberty Flights are trustworthy UK supplier that I've been using since day one, I've no reason to suspect that these aren't legitimate.

[EDIT] I'm now assuming that my protank mini II won't work with atomizers above 1.8ohms and that I should probably upgrade my clearomizer?

Yes, well, let me go and look. They are the last company I would buy anything from.

..off to investigate...

Well - it looks genuine.

Shame about the price and double shame about the cost of the replacement heads.

I bought my mini PT v.2 for £5.99 and pay £1.20 for the heads.

Seriously though... A Vision Spinner turned up to the full 4.8v will kill a 1.8 Kanger clearomiser head.

I used my mini Protanks (v.1. v.2) etc for over a year on an EVIC/Vamo/SID type of mod. All these mods have the choice to set the watts to get the best vape. You can't go over 8.5-9.0 watts for very long with these types of atomizer head.

You can go a little higher with a dual coil mini Protank (like a v.3) but even then, they won't last very long.

As you can tell, these little tanks are my favourite thing to use day in, day out.

Maybe you could buy some handmade coils for your mini PT. Virtual Vape do a UNICOIL for £3.99 which will last for weeks and weeks, you just need to change the cotton wool now and again.

Unicoil | Virtual-vape.co.uk

Nature Vape do one for £5.99. (I wouldn't buy from them.... not at that price).

agree! that if you don't plan to remake your own coils that buying a unicoil from virtual vape would be far more cost effective :) they can last months as long as you remove post and replace cotton wick regularly (it isnt so complicated to do) and you will get a better vape at less cost overall

You can rebuild own coils and there's lots of videos on youtube to show you how, so its something to consider for the future, but if you are just starting out I would recommend those linked by djsvapour

Cheers pal. I had replied to your other post but it doesn't seem to have sent properly... In it I said that I'm going to get one of those unicoils you mentioned of and a kanger airflow control valve for my PT2. That sound like a good idea for the time being?

[EDIT] It did send and now I don't know how to delete this post... Anyway, Thanks for the help.

I always get main of 10% off at liberty flights with one of their promo codes that never seem to expire, so the prices aren't too bad.

I'll purchase one of these hand made coils and an airflow control valve next. See if I can get a bit more flavor of my PT2.

Yes, forgive me, I absolutely hate the Liberty Flights business model; charge way too much to those not in the know and then keep your customers happy by doing facebook and other discounts.

I just cannot accept £2.99 for replacement heads. It's just a disgrace. I won't shop there. They know full well what they are doing and even 20% doesn't rescue most of their prices. I shall say no more.

The airflow controller works great for Kanger tanks. I have one on my full-sized Protank 2. Oddly, I don't seem to need it for the minis... they are OK out of the box.

Flavour-wise, cotton wool and microcoil is definitely a big step up. Recently, rather than make the coil, I've been using some premade wires from Fasttech. I think they were £1.30 for 50 or something. A little bit too small to be an easy introduction, but they do work well.

Fasttech sku 1591703

Another option is to buy a pair of Aspire clearomisers (ET-S or mini Nautilus) and use the BVC atomizers. These are awesome, truly. I got 3 days (at most) from Kanger atomizers, these are lasting 2 weeks sometimes. Fasttech are selling these too, but I tend to buy the actual tanks online in the UK.

I buy most of my replacement coils and cheap odds and sods from fasttech (China) long delivery wait but very cheap compared to buying in UK! I just make sure I stock up in advance. Delivery can take up to 6 weeks but normally its only about 12-21 days so its worth buying in advance :p

I use mini protanks on my smaller vape gear, have some version 3's (dual coil) and version 1's (single coil) but I remake my own coils as single coils, that are fine for both! it saves the pennies, and the fasttech orders are half UK price - and genuine, so its well worth a look

Jongo, I rebuild my coils (30g Kanthal and cotton or rayon) to about 1.8Ω. I instantly found better flavor and vapor without the need to crank the voltage all that much. I can comfortably run around 9-9.5 Watts (approx 4.25V) without issue.

I just ran some numbers, and I'm not sure that you're actually getting the full 4.8V on that coil with that device. With the 1.8Ω coil, that's pushing almost 13W, and I didn't think Spinners could run that high. Another thread mentioned about 2.6A max current output (which is about where 4.8V/1.8Ω hits)

I'm wondering if you're really getting all 4.8V.

Nonetheless, try different coils - rewick with something besides silica. If you've the inclination, build your own coils?

I'm still going to get the adjustable airflow base - only USD 7.00 for me.

Cheers

i've fitted my airflow control valve to my pt2 mini, works fine. didn't notice much difference because i was still waiting on my unicoil.

Well the unicoil actually arrived today, I moistened the wick and fitted it as it came, but it won't work. It makes the usual noise when I press the button and the element heats up, but all the liquid seems to be leaking out of the bottom, no vapour is produced at all. Not sure what's going on with it. Can someone please shed some light on what I'm doing wrong?

Linking to a new thread, as this post has been buried and I could do with some advice - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...icoil-not-fiunctioning-expected-expected.html
