I've noticed, looking through the threads here that there are a lot of vapers from Western Mass- more than I would have expected. I live in Amherst now, and work in Florence, which is, I think, legally a part of Northampton (where there is a workplace ban on vaping, boo-hiss.)
I'm originally from Canada, but I grew up in New England (I consider myself a Vermonter, though I guess a lot of Vermonters would consider me a flatlander, since I wasn't born in Vermont
.) Anyway, I returned to New Englansd about a year and a half ago from parts much more southern, and I have to say that, while I liked a lot of things about living in the South, I am more culturally comfortable here than I was there.
But boy, is there a Puritan culture here. You can kind of figure that if they're going to ban it they will ban it in Boston first. Actually, I think "Banned in Boston" was once a pretty effective advertising slogan for books. And you can be pretty sure that towns in western Mass won't be far behind Boston.
But even with the bans, and the constant nannying, I'm seeing vaping catching on here. The other day I was vaping before getting on a bus, talking about vaping with the bus driver (of the B43, for the locals,) who was vaping. Another guy came up and started talking to us about vaping, and asked me about my eGo. When I got off the bus in Northampton and waited for the R42 another bus came by and let off a woman who was using one of those expensive cheap disposables. I'm not sure if she saw that I had an eGo sticking out of my pocket or if she just noticed me looking at her vaping on her disposable, but she gave me a big wink and said "It works." That's all she said, but that spoke volumes to me.
So if you're around Amherst/Northampton and would like to get together and swap tales and juice (I just got some juice that tastes _just like_ goat piss, so if you like goat piss I'd be happy to trade it to you for almost anything else, along with the story of how I came to know what goat piss tastes like) and maybe even commit a bit of civil disobedience... well, I'm around. Let me know.
