Battery ratings are usually in milliamp hours (mAh). You could read about the unit of measurement here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ampere_hour but basically it is just a way of stating how much charge the battery can hold. So a 1300mAh batt contains twice as much energy as a 650mAh one, and so forth.
I'm not sure what to tell you about the taste issues. I'd agree that there is a lot to learn at first regarding the best way for you to keep your coils and clearo tanks clean, etc. I hope you find something that lets you retain good taste soon!
