Oh crap, so I might end up with something that won't hit very strong. I wonder where I could at least try out a lower resistance one without having to wait again to order it online. I suppose I'll just wait till my stuff gets in to test it out.

VikingQueen mentioned a brick and mortar close to you that sells protanks. If they have protanks I'd bet they have evod heads. You might like the 2.5s. Hard to say.

Some people like cooler vapes and some like it warm.

I prefer warm myself, but really, it is a personal choice.

You did a good thing buying the EVOD. They are a vast improvement over the eGo T. I started on an eGo T. I loved the idea, but the atomizer was expensive to replace. I'd get a week or so out of one, then it would start to taste nasty and hit poorly.

The EVOD is quite nice. The replacement heads cost about 1$. Depending on the juice I use, I get a few days to a week out of a head.

I toss them when vapor production gets lower, or the atomizer gets too hot.

Some say they get good life by rinsing the EVOD out, once the juice gets near the bottom. Apparently bottom coil cartomizers warm up the juice and it'll thicken and caramelize. When it does, it will flow thicker and clog the wicks faster.

Personally, since they only cost a buck a piece, I just toss them when they stop working well.

I'll buy a few boxes at a time to spread out the shipping.

Grab a box of 1.8 ohm heads the next time you stock up. See which ones you like more.

Sent from my mobile. Ignore typos please.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll be getting more juice, from highbrowvapor.com i believe the site is, on saturday here. After that I'll be getting the new eVod head and five 2.5 ohms coils to try on monday. So I'm gunna search where that store is so if I need something I can just pick it up that day instead of waiting all that time for it to ship. thankfully the shipping costs are low though. Anyways guys, yeah its looking good, I'll update you all once I get the stuff at my door.

I wanted to pop in and say 'hi' to the fellow Minnesotans =) I may check out that store if I am ever down near Lakeville too.

Nathan, a buddy of mine had a juice that discolored over time in his Protank too. Now, in that case, he said it did not affect the flavor. I think the experience varies with the juice used. But build-up, or the juice not being completely vaporized -- or however you want to state it, is definitely the source of that issue.

One way to avoid wastefulness would be to buy a bottom-built clearomizer, like that eVod you got. I'm assuming that's the 'juice delivery device' that Spazmelda was referring to. Anyway, on an eVod, the coil head is at the bottom of the tank, so you don't have to keep the tank very full! Gravity will keep the juice near the bottom where the wick is. If that juice is becoming gross within 1.5mL or so, just put <1.5mL into the tank, or less than 1mL, or less than... well, you get the idea :)

I have one bottom-built tank, a Kanger T3S, and it is pretty nice.

So it sounds like your problem may be solved soon! Good luck! I am still trying to settle on my 'perfect' tank too... I'm going to try a Kanger Protank II and an evod next.

I use the evod tank and love it. I have 3 of them with different heads from 1.8 to 2.2. I realize replacements are cheap but you can get longer life out of one if after 2 refills you empty out completely. Take the air tube off and do a dry burn. This will clear up all the gunk and work like brand new. I use needle nose pliers and take of easy. Then remove the taste wick part and put aside. Put back onto your battery and do slow burns around 3 to 5 seconds long. The coils will start to burn off all the gunk. Once you see all the coils your good. Then I will usually just rinse off the flavor wick with hot water. Paper towel dry and let it sit for bit. If your in a hurry you can put it right back together and use but I think its best to let it fully dry. Using this method I get a full month out of one head. Hope this helps.

That did help as a matter of fact, thank you. I assume with a bottom based wicking system, there is no harm in vaping until there is only a bit left at the bottom. I'm guessing that the taste will tell the story of whats going on and what needs to be done at any given time. So I'm sure everything will work out for me with this head. I'll just have to get another one in a month. Oh here's a question. How often do you replace the coil system (my 2.5 ohms replacements) along with the dry burning. Thats what I don't get yet at this point.

It sounds like replacement is rather a matter of personal preference. I think I am replacing more often than not, just until I gain some more experience with vaping. After all, coil heads don't seem to be that expensive.

Anyway, I saw a poster (sorry, forget who it was) who said they cleaned daily and replaced weekly, then there are those who -- due to frequent cleaning, I imagine -- try to make their coil heads last a month (as Rchase72 said). I definitely replace when cleaning no longer gets rid of any burnt or negative effects on the taste of my vapor.

Nathan, you may find that as the juice in the bcc gets lower you start to get gurgling. That's one of the quirks of bccs. It has to do with physics stuff, pressure. I can usually vape down to the bottom, but I have to take it off sometimes to clear the head of juice. I've seen it recommended that you don't let the level of the juice get below 1/4 full, and that's pretty good advice, I think. That's just for the gurgling/leaking issues.

How often you replace the head is going to depend on a lot of things. How often and how long you use it, the juice you are using, the particular coil, whether you decide to try use some method of cleaning, and your personal preference.

I posted this list on someone else's thread. Things you can do with a protank, evod, etc... when it starts to 'go stank'. I tried to put these in order of how much work they are.

1) simply replace the head when it starts to taste bad.
2) develop some sort of rinsing/soaking method to clean the heads.
3) rinse/soak, partially disassemble, and replace flavor wicks with fresh ones.
4) partially disassemble and do a dry burn, wash or replace flavor wicks. Reassemble, rinse, vape.
5) completely disassemble and make a new coil with new kanthal and wick. Reassemble, replace flavor wicks and vape.

Of course, each of those, except maybe #1, can and probably has been, the topic of its own thread or 10. Each method will produce its own lifespan. #1 might give you a week, give or take. #2 might give you a few weeks, or longer, depending on how well you clean and your tastes, #3 probably about the same as #2, maybe a little longer. #4 could give you a month or longer. #5 indefinitely. As long as the parts of the head stay intact.

What you can do, if you are not sure you want to go to the trouble of anything other than replacing heads at this point, is just throw your used coils in a box (maybe soak them in a cup of water first to clean them a bit). Then save them. You may find you want to attempt cleaning them later. Or you could save them all up and send them to me. Lol.

Well, I first tried the cheesecake flavor, I'm not a huge fan I found out, so I switched to another one, the black berry lemon. I vaped with that for awhile, but my hits were getting weak for some reason. now this juice is very dark. I wanted to change flavors again to the last one I ordered. So I tried to dry burn it, but after putting it back together and filling with my waffle flavor, it tasted burnt! So I'm not sure if I dry burned correctly or what, so I just replaced the coil dealy with a fresh one out of the pack I ordered. So thats where I'm at with it right now, it hitting great with the new coil in and this flavor is awesome. I'll be able to get to the Lakeville store on Wed. to check out what they might have that I could pick up. At least online, these coil dealies are cheap, but I don't want to have to replace it every day (I got this yesterday and already replaced the coil tonight here.) I thought I did everything right with the dry burn, I kept doing it until it stopped smoking, but maybe I did it too much.

I did not wash the head at all. so its ok if the wicks are damp or wet then? I thought I shoulden't do that because it'd get wet and wouldn't hit right. Yeah I'd like to have the coil system last longer then a day. Well for now I'll use this fresh one. I'mma watch that video you sent me again to make sure im doing it right.

edit: just watched it, and I'm thinking I actually didn't burn it enough actually, she made a point to really make sure it was totally burnt off and it looked like 4 little lines that were red when she was doing it. mine didn't look quite like that. I'm going to try again and see if my original coil will hit like this fresh one.

Yes. I burn mine until all the coils glow, then a few more times for good measure. I wash mine after, don't know if she does that, and blot dry with a tissue. The first couple of hits will be weak, but after all the water is driven off it will be back to normal. Or, you can let it air dry and use heads in rotation.

Let me get this straight, so after you dry burn and the unit is disassembled (the wicks are reveled) you rinse it off like that, or after you put the top thing back on to cover the wicks? Besides that, I just went to the lakeville store this morning, got myself another box of coils at 1.8 ohms this time, also got pomegranate flavor liquid to use at 15mg/ml and with that got a free sample of Kentucky tobacco flavor 4.5 ml bottle. So with this new coil, its hitting much better, I bet this will work better with my heavier liquids that I previously ordered. Heh, I didn't plan on spending so much, but with what I got now, I should be set for awhile if these coils will last me.

guess what, tonight I dropped my e cig for the first time. the battery housing came off. it didn't work at first, I brought it to the place i got it from and they fixed it. I was gunna spend 40 bones on an adjustable voltage battery, it was a big one too. but no need at this point. We'll see if the battery will charge tonight though, if not obviously I'll be needing a new one.

Yeah so I went ahead and bought a "Vision" spinner adjustable voltage battery in black now to go with my kanger evod. I dunno, I'm having some issues with taste, even with a fairly new coil put in, like a day old. Probably because I'm hitting it too much. The new battery is nice, I think they said it was rated at 1300 for something?? Don't know what it means, but I think this'll last me awhile and also be good for any upgrades.
