That did help as a matter of fact, thank you. I assume with a bottom based wicking system, there is no harm in vaping until there is only a bit left at the bottom. I'm guessing that the taste will tell the story of whats going on and what needs to be done at any given time. So I'm sure everything will work out for me with this head. I'll just have to get another one in a month. Oh here's a question. How often do you replace the coil system (my 2.5 ohms replacements) along with the dry burning. Thats what I don't get yet at this point.
Nathan, you may find that as the juice in the bcc gets lower you start to get gurgling. That's one of the quirks of bccs. It has to do with physics stuff, pressure. I can usually vape down to the bottom, but I have to take it off sometimes to clear the head of juice. I've seen it recommended that you don't let the level of the juice get below 1/4 full, and that's pretty good advice, I think. That's just for the gurgling/leaking issues.
How often you replace the head is going to depend on a lot of things. How often and how long you use it, the juice you are using, the particular coil, whether you decide to try use some method of cleaning, and your personal preference.
I posted this list on someone else's thread. Things you can do with a protank, evod, etc... when it starts to 'go stank'. I tried to put these in order of how much work they are.
1) simply replace the head when it starts to taste bad.
2) develop some sort of rinsing/soaking method to clean the heads.
3) rinse/soak, partially disassemble, and replace flavor wicks with fresh ones.
4) partially disassemble and do a dry burn, wash or replace flavor wicks. Reassemble, rinse, vape.
5) completely disassemble and make a new coil with new kanthal and wick. Reassemble, replace flavor wicks and vape.
Of course, each of those, except maybe #1, can and probably has been, the topic of its own thread or 10. Each method will produce its own lifespan. #1 might give you a week, give or take. #2 might give you a few weeks, or longer, depending on how well you clean and your tastes, #3 probably about the same as #2, maybe a little longer. #4 could give you a month or longer. #5 indefinitely. As long as the parts of the head stay intact.
What you can do, if you are not sure you want to go to the trouble of anything other than replacing heads at this point, is just throw your used coils in a box (maybe soak them in a cup of water first to clean them a bit). Then save them. You may find you want to attempt cleaning them later. Or you could save them all up and send them to me. Lol.
