Wow! Thanks for all the ideas guys. I'll definitely be trying some of them with my next order. Btw, I never cleaned the attys that came with my kgo, how do I go about doing that safely?
Get some pure grain alcohol. Everclear is perfect, but if you can't find that, use the highest proof vodka you can find. I use 158 proof. Denatured alcohol also works great, but you have to be careful to make sure you get it all rinsed out before you use your atty again.
Next, get some unflavored "smokers formula" denture cleaning tablets.
Soak the atty for about an hour in the alcohol.
Rinse.
Soak for another 1/2 hour or hour in hot water with a denture cleaner tablet.
Rinse under strong hot running water.
If you have grain alcohol, give your atty another brief soak to displace the water. If you're using denatured alcohol, skip this step.
Blow out excess liquid through the battery connector end.
Dry burn: To do this, hook up your atty with no juice or anything and hit the button for 3-5 seconds. Let it cool, or blow into it for 5-10 seconds. Repeat until you have burned off any remaining gunk and you can see the coil turn red. At that point, if you can't see the coil, you'll at least hear that it has stopped sizzling. Don't hold the button down too long or let it get too hot before it cools off. The idea is to turn the built up gunk into a whitish ash.
At that point, you can just blow the ash away if it's not too heavy and thick. If it is, then repeat the entire process from the beginning. At the end, you want to see the wires of the coil distinctly and you want them to turn red almost immediately when you hit the button.
