Hi, my throat hurts..

So I want to drop the Marlboro Reds that I have been smoking a pack and half of a day for 5 years. I want to come out of the gates and get something that will completely make me drop analogs.

.. The problem is that I am completely overwhelmed by everything I have been reading. Atomizers, carts, juice, etc. I am willing to spend the money to get a joye starter kit, but I don't even know if it contains everything I need.

HHEEELLLLPPP

PS.. Size is NOT an issue. It does not have to be the size of an analog.

Hi Snellgrovski. What have you seen that is most interesting to you?
What parts can we help you unravel to get to the place whare it makes a little more sense?
Most kit contain no liquid(nicotine/flavor) so that option would also need to be sorted out also.
Ignore all the specifics names for parts. Those are like carb spring or head shims if you are a mechanic, just the name of something and somwhere, and eventually the whole e-cig speak will become something that makes sense once you have begun to get a grasp of what is what once you have a couple parts in hand.

Thanks for the response. :]

I think I have decided to go with this starter kit, it's currently on sale and most things I have read about Joye's are good: Joye eGo-C Starter Kit | Joyetech eGo-C E Cigarette

Basically I am wondering.. where do I go from there? Can I find pre-filled cartridges, do I need to buy e-liquid, are they easy to fill if I have to buy the e-liquid. What makes the ego twist different from that model, etcetcetc.

Welcome! Check this area for answers about the basics and how stuff works.

New Members Information

Once you know about the fundamentals it will be easier for you to find a broad spectrum of what will meet your needs and then it will be a lot easier for us to point you in the right direction for you.

That kit is a good start. You'll typically want to switch from the basic atty/cartridge that it comes with to something like this eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer, Flat Tip - eGo Cartomizers - Cartomizers - PV Parts

Then the next step it something like this Dual Coil 510 Chrome Tank Cartomizer, 3.5ml - 510 Tanks and Clearomizers - Tanks - PV Parts

That's my :2c:

There are kits similar to that one or identical all over. check around and get a good deal on the best you can afford.

Hope this helps!

Ok So you will need liquid, Most likely a few. The c type uses empty "tank cartridges" this is your liquid holder when its attached to the atomizer . The c ststem uses a tank type atomizer that has a replaceable element usualy called the head. Some tobacco would likely be an easier transition and get a few strengths, and if possible a few blends, blends like 70PG/30VG and more on the PG70%+ ratio should work well in your kit. In all dont get too much liquid until you have tried a few smaller options. The liquid was my hardest element to get nailed down as something that i could say" I would use this all the time" . Order smaller bottles at first until you find a few that are right for you.

I started vaping last September 28-just dawned on me that is almost a year! Anyway, I started on a Joye Ego. That is what I would recommend to anyone. It's reliable, size is not too big and not too small, and almost anything you want to try is compatible due to a 510 connection. Make sure you get 2, so you can charge one while vaping the other. So, obviously that means you need a charger.
Next, I recommend a Stardust or Ego tank. Get one for each flavor. Not a bunch of maintenance all day long with these. Just fill and vape until liquid needs to be refilled.
Find a flavor of juice you might like- I got 2, in case I hated one!
Hopefully, this will get you started. Then you can do some research here and fine tune your preferences. This is an amazing place for that!
Good Luck-

Hi Snell,
As a relative newbie, I can relate to being somewhat overwhelmed at first too! The EGO-C is a good system, I am in process of trying a newly received EGO Twist and in layman terms, the Twist allows you the option of vaping the juice at different temperatures ... which changes the flavor/throat hit, etc. depending on the juice you are using.

I have an EGO-C and have not as yet found any prefilled cartomizers that fit it. Not to say there aren't any out there. The site you are ordering from doesn't offer prefilled, so I would order a box or two of their empty cartomizers, a couple CE4 clearomizers, and a few small bottles of juice to try. The clearomizers are great because you simply drip the liquid into the tank without having to worry about overfilling and all the other fiddling that comes with filling a cartomizers. Not to scare you, it's not that difficult or messy! Youtube is great for learning how to fill cartomizers and use various types of systems.

Another option you might want to consider is Vapor4Life's EGO which they have customized so you can use their prefilled cartomizers. Their EGO comes with 5 BIG empty cartomizers (I think they hold 5ml of juice), but Vapor4Life have a good selection of prefilled cartomizers that also fit it. They also sell clearomizers that work with their EGO. Be aware, however, that all the other generic EGO parts out there won't work with their EGO, so you'll be stuck with them for replacement parts.

Hope that helps and good luck with leaving the analogs behind!

While I agree with the above kGo option, I actually would second it and say get a few plain 510(thats the inner thread of the two devices in question)atomizers for testing new flavors, accompany that with a drip tip and some standard(SR a.k.a. 3ohm) and low resistance(LR a.k.a. 2ohm) boge cartomizers and you may be better off... especially for a beginner. I dont personally favor the "C" style tanks. Although many people have started there it seems that most folks leave that system in favor if something a little less phiniky. The Rebuildable stardust (a.k.a. clearomizer or ce4+) is very popular also, because they will filt the ego style battery very well, are easy to fill and generally trouble free. Heres a favorite of mine as of lately http://www.shop.goodprophets.com/product.sc?productId=404&categoryId=78 this is also called the kanger t-2, and cc rebuildable, and a couple other names. See the problem exists in this industry that the vendors all seem to name these products themselves, for themselves so one thing Could have ninteen names and all of them be similar or none of them be similar.....

Hi Snell:

Ego Twist is variable voltage, which means you can "dial in" the voltage you want to vape at. This is pretty nice to have.

The Ego C kit is a tank system, You Tube Videos here---see whatcha think:

Joye eGo-C Review - YouTube

eGo-C Tank System Review - YouTube

If you want the Ego Twist, which I recommend, I'll just copy and paste the "system" that one of the helpers here designed for me when I started..which allowed me to experiement with a few things and I was very happy with it. (I added some of these Visions as well to see if I liked them, which I do, and which are rebuildable):
Vision VERSION 2 clearomizer with replaceable atomizer

This was what I bought to start out. (thanks john!!) With the clearomizers above, this allowed me to try clearmizers, tank, cartos and variable volt batteries:

TWO (2) Joyetech eGo-C Twist:.Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery.(MyVaporStore)(I got the 650mAH because the 1000 are kinda long for sticking in pocket)

Smoktech 3.5ml DCT tank:.Pro DCTank Tube.(MyVaporStore)

eGo trim piece:..(MyVaporSteGo Cone Cover for DCT tank)(goes between DCT tank and battery for a nice seamless look)

Plain.drip tip:.Colored Drip Tip - 510/901.(MyVaporStore)

USB charger:.eGo Rapid USB Charger.6.75 (MyVaporStore)

Cartomizers:.Crystal Clear Vaping.(3 box bundle deal boge XL 2.0-3.0 cartomizers)
OR
Cartomizears:.Boge Mix n Match (5 Boxes).SureVapes - $0.92 each

Few bottles of eliquid

I couldn't be happier with what I bought, and I had no idea what I was doing when I started. You can screw any 510-threaded equipment onto the twists, that is an industry-standard thread.

I still want to try out the Ressurectors, other than that, I'm over a month into vaping and everything I got is perfect. In the end, its up to personal preference if you're going to like cartos w/tank, clearomizers, etc. or another tank like vivi nova but I just gave you the simplest stuff. :)

I'm confused and very overwhelmed. I thought 510 was 510 no matter what (other than LR, SR,...) and any 510 cart, atty, etc would fit any other 510 battery setup as long as you matched the resistance. I'm obviously not understanding. <sigh>

I believe the above poster was talking about PRE-FILLED cartomizers. Very few people use them anyway, since most of us like stuff that is not prefilled so we can use our own juice.

Also talking about "some" vendor-specific ego-like systems. They work fine, as do ego clones, but may have some things that are not standard.

I just felt I had a lot of "freedom" buying Ego Twists, cause I could screw anything I wanted onto the battery, pretty much, and I was getting variable voltage to boot. Yes, you will spend a few more dollars on this feature, and if you don't want to, then go with KGO or regular Ego batts, no biggie, really.

Grimm Green and PBsardo love the twist, and so do I:

THE EGO TWIST IS A GAME CHANGER - YouTube

grimm green hated the ego C and I'm sure you can find a you tube video on that too?

Hi Buggs, She's(i think) referring to the vapor 4 life ego which is(im nearly certain) an 808 threaded ego sized battery, I agree all this namebungling is enough to drive us all up the wall, but alas we can do nothing other than weed through the names to find the real answers for ourselves. So to srtaighten this back in the right direction, im next to certain that V4L had(has) a ego product that is not 510 threading, but still is called ego...... they also have a new full line of OMG mods(not even kidding a little)lol..... hope that stirs up the murky water a little bit.

Ahhh, that would make sense about the 808, then. Thanks so much. "OMG" - aye, aye, aye...LOL!

If size does not matter, flexibility DOES. The Ego Twist will give you that. Or get 1 Ego Twist and 1 kgo so you have a cheap backup for your Twist. They are both 510's, but the kGo comes off the battery strong and gets weaker until recharging, so flavor changes on you, but the Twist is always adjustable so if you don't like it, turn the dial until you do like it. (I'm too old to see the dial so I marked it with nail polish)

You will really not need pre-filled cartomizers, you will want Kanger cartomizers until Boge fixes their quality-control problems. But if you REALLY want prefilled the first time, if you can't find them in 510 I'd be a little surprised, but worst case you can get 808 cartos and a 510/808 adaptor.

I think you can get by with 1 charger for the eGo Twist if you only buy 1 battery, but at least ONE of your ecigs should have a spare charger.

(If you can afford 2 eGo Twists JUST GET 2! No reason to get something else if you can afford 2 of them.)

Look at You Tube for how to fill and care for cartos.

Everybody has been recommending various other tanks or things on top, but with the possible exception of the ViVi Nova or the Mini-Vivi-Nova, most other types of tops besides cartos have juice spillage or leakage issues. (I'm not sure about attys and cartridges, I haven't tried that yet.)

So:

A. 2 eGo Twists

B. 1-2 ViVi Novas, at least one full-sized with a metal alternate body for acid juices
......... AND/OR........
10 Kanger 2.4 cartomizers

C. 2 chargers specifically for the eGo Twist -- or 1 expensive and 1 inexpensive charger for the eGo Twist
D. 2 drip tips (they cost $3=$6 each)
E. Juice sample pack from someone that gets good reviews.
F. Either an eGo carrying case or a diabetic's insulin case ($9) from a pharmacy such as CVS.. The diabetic kits come with a cooler pak which you can refrigerate overnight and use to keep your juices cool.

Also:

Never throw away the "condom's" that come on cartomizers until you have a couple of handfuls of leftovers. This goes DOUBLE for the smooth ones with no spike in the bottom.

Never throw away the little ziplocs that things come in.

You will be using these things over and over.

Note: This is not what I am using, this is what I would have started with if I were as brave as you are.

So I think I have decided to built my own kit..
Which would you all say is easier to start with, an atty+cart or just a cartomizer?
Also, after that has been decided, do I just need a battery? (aside from chargers & eliquid)
And third, am I able to customize and choose from different mouthpieces?

Thanks for all the help so far guys. :)
