Been smoking since I was 18...I'm 33 now, and when I hit about 30 it became more than obvious that it was killing me. I tried the patches, gum, lozenges, and other OTC NRT's available -- no dice.

A family member bought me a pack of 'e-health cigarette' that was basically a battery, an atty, a few pre-filled, tank-style cartridges in a "pack" you plug right into the wall. They were literally *awful*, but I could sorta see how it might work to get me off analogs if I switched to an e-cig that cost more than $15..

After a lot of research, I decided to order a Joye 510 'dual' kit from nicotinenirvana.com .. Went ahead and ordered 10 blank carts and a 30ml vial of 'extra high' American Blend juice while I was at it.. I think it cost me around $70, and was in my mailbox in a flash -- couldn't have been happier with the service. When I opened the package, I noticed they also sent me a 5ml vial of 'Bourbon St. Bacco' in 24mg strength, which I thought was pretty cool.. :)

Charged up my first battery for the recommended 8rs, filled a cart with the American Blend (didn't even bother with the pre-filled carts), dripped a few drops on the atty to moisten it and let that burn off, assembled the whole rig, and took my first draw.

HOLY CRAP. Umm, yeah, the 36mg is *stout* -- but I like it! That was Saturday morning.. I still had some analogs laying around, so I sorta went back and forth that day...but I didn't buy another pack. Didn't really even *worry* about not buying a new pack, which I've never really been able to say before.

It's mid-day Monday now, and I still haven't bought a pack. Haven't felt the need so far, and I don't suspect I will. :2cool: :2cool: :2cool:

So, anyway...there's my teeny tiny little vaping success story as it stands so far. :)

Dude - that aint no teeny weeny little vaping success story. That is awesome. This is you on the road to personal freedom from the chains of smoking.

Funny enough i started with a "e health cig" that i bought in a market 4 weeks ago. I'd never even seen one of these contraptions before. But i pinned a lot of hope to the fact that these crazy little e cig was gonna help me beat the habit that had become seemingly unbeatable to me.

You know what...........it's working. Three weeks now without an analog. I haven't shouted at anyone. Or upset anyone. I'm not up tight. .....yeahhh....i'm cool. I can't believe i'm not smoking and i'm cool.

The "e health cig" started it for me. It sustained me for the first week. I quickly realised that if i was gonna keep this going then i needed some better gear. Which i got.

cmjusto - If you really wanna quit then you've picked the right way to go about it i think. Your already getting results. Your on the way.

I wish you every success.

Thanks everybody! :) I've already had a few odd/intrigued looks here in the office, and have recommended the joye 510 to a few folks.. I'm really, really liking the 510 so far. My only complaints (if ya wanna call'em that) are that the batteries and carts don't last all that long, but it's not as if I can't charge up a battery in like an hour, and I've got carts-o-plenty...it's really just a matter of carrying a few things with you to help ensure your success!

I'm also learning that I need to stop concerning myself with whether a cart's *out* completely, and just go ahead and swap when the vapor quantity's not quite to my liking.. So far, all I've gotten from running them out completely is a nasty last few draws that have left me wanting in terms of TH, plus some singed filler material...lol! And there's really no sense in doing that when I've got several fresh carts waiting, it's not good to hit a dry atty, it takes all of 3 seconds to change one, and the one I'm removing can simply be *refilled* when I get home.. It's not like it's 'wasteful' or anything to grab a fresh one, even if the one I'm using is still half full, but I've really had to remind myself of that for some reason.. I think my mind tells me that swapping a non-empty cart is akin to crushing out an analog when you're halfway through, which is something every smoker I know is averse to doing..

Plus, I kinda like the idea of being able to go "I want a fresh cart" and just grabbing one, instead of trying to squeeze a few remaining drops from a cart. :)

cmjusto = strange but i remember being exactly the same in my early days (i'm 3 weeks experienced now ..lol).

I tried to make each cartridge full last me. When really the best thing to do is keep it topped up. Not overfilled though.

It seems to take a while to get out of "analog" mode. And into vaping. Only a few weeks though.

Something that i've noticed when smokers ask me about my e cig is how shocked they are at how much i paid out for my gear. Which actually cost me what i would've spent in a week on analogs. They say "how much"?......"thats expensive". Then they go off and buy a carton of 200 killer cigarettes. Or several pouches of 50g rolling tobacco.

Congrats on your success. I ,too, started with a cheap starter kit and 18mg juice that wasn't enough to get me to quit, only cut down. 36mg juice on an eGo quickly educated me about the symptoms of too much nicotine. 24mg has been just right for me until I started dabbling with lower resistance attys. I never realized more vapor=more nic until I tried it.

So far the 36mg is what's working for me.. I can get by just fine on the 24mg, but I like the 36mg better.. It's weird because I was an 'ultra light' smoker before. lol! I think once I have myself thoroughly convinced that ecigs are simply **what I use** and not analogs, then I can probably cut back to the 24mg without 'worrying' that I'm gonna freak out or whatever. I'm still building "trust" in ecigs, if that makes sense.

Heck, maybe one day I'll even cut back to 12mg.. Or maybe I'll stay at 36mg and just use it less frequently. Or just whatever! :) Thing is -- and this is just me, personally -- I really see no good reason *not* to continue vaping/using nicotine indefinitely. Analog cigarettes?...yeah, there are obvious reasons to quit that, but if we're talking about inhaling vaporized pharmaceutical grade nicotine without the clutter of a zillion carcinogens that literally get sealed into the crevices of one's lungs with tar, I frankly don't see many downsides.

In fact, there's a long, really sad history of Alzheimer's disease in my family and nicotine is shown to be very helpful at warding it off by increasing the numbers of nicotinic receptors and increasing the production of acetylecholine.. It's just a documented scientific fact that people who smoke more get alzheimer's less (just like people with schizophrenia smoke more and have lower rates of lung cancer -- go figure). Soooo...vaping might actually *help* me, healthwise, and not just to get off cigarettes!
