Hi, I'm loving vamping , haven't smoked roll ups for a month now...that's amazing for me so I'm really happy to have found you all.At the moment I'm buying cartridges as it's easiest, the tanks seem tempting but I'm not sure I could deal with the fuss...anyway i'moff to Malta soon for a holiday and wondered if there is a limit to the number of cartridges you can take on a plane ...are the cartridges considered to be liquid? If so I won't have enough to last me:s
I asked Ryanair and the woman said they had to go in hand luggage, but has anyone else travelled with the cartridges? I would have thought I'd out them away in the hold luggage and she didn't sound too sure she really knew what I meant, can anyone help as I don't want to get them taken off me and want to do it right so I get to keep them! Thank you x

Well I don't know about UK based airlines, I will say that here in America, I have had no problems stuffing e-cigarettes, PVs, and related juices and devices into my checked luggage.

Same with my carry-on, but I usually carry only a couple small bottles of liquid, and my tank. While going through security, I put the tanks and bottles in separate bags and the amount combined liquid is well below 3 ounces.

Inside the airport, I've had no problems vaping. You do, however, need to check with the airline to see what their policies are regarding the use of electronic cigarettes or personal vaporizers onboard the aircraft.

ETA: Welcome to ECF!

Hello & welcome Termite :)

I've not ben on a plane myself since vaping, but I know of many UK members of AAE-C UK that have done so. They have never had any problems with having their e-liquid & cartridges etc in their hand luggage.

Which e-cig have got - just about all of the cartridges/cartomisers can be refilled with e-liquid.

Welcome, Termite!

Well, I do not know about UK travel, but my recent US travels yielded these tidbits (there are several air travel threads, be sure to read the new member info and search around some):

In addition to separating the battery from your mod, I would suggest a small label applied to it, and then packed in another clear quart sized zip bag - along with any other small electronics you plan to take in your carry on (do not pack your batteries in your check in luggage), including Ipods and the like. Placed appropriately in your carry on, it isn't likely to snag too many questions, if any. Your quart size zip bag of liquids goes on the very top of your carry on, so it can be pulled out quickly and placed separately in a scanning bin at the security checkpoint. Directly underneath your liquids bag, you need to have your spare shoes - if any - that you are taking in your carry on. You do not have to remove them for scanning, but do need to leave your bag open for when it is scanned in case the security folk want to look closer. Yep, your spare shoes will be on top of your change of clean clothes. Then, directly under those spare shoes, have your quart zip bag of small electronics.

Granted I use 808 batteries for the most part and they probably get the least double looks, but if everything is packed carefully with consideration for the security folks, there is much less chance of anyone getting suspicious of your gear. I traveled with two pcc's, 2 carry cases with 4 808's each, and two different usb/wall adapter charging units without any problem at all, packed in the quart bag along with my Nano and a hand held game. What really surprised me, though, was that I accidentally got myself into the line for the big personal nuke scanner (no one waiting in line should have tipped me off), and rather than collect everything up and go get in a different line, I went ahead and took my radiation dose - and I had an 808 in my front jeans pocket that I'd been using in the airport terminal to stealth vape and use in the restrooms. I just forgot it was in my pocket. And, no one said a word. No pat down, no sideways glance, just a "have a good flight," and I was on my way. As near as I could see, no one was concerned for my small electronics bag, either. (I wouldn't recommend the pocket pv as practice, though.)

With regard to cartomizers, I put them through with my liquids in their original boxes. No one seemed to care too much. I think I had three 5-packs with me, didn't take up a whole lot of room. I kept them in the boxes because what they were was clearly marked on the boxes, and no one so much as said, "boo!" about it.

DGm76513,Chrissie and kia2.thank you so much for the info and the welcome :) that's taken a weight off my mind, especially hearing the packs of cartridges didn't get a 2nd glance.i've saved all the original packaging from the smokers halo delivery so was going to pack as many cartridges as u can fit in it so it's great to hear you advise that ;it'll look 'sensible' rather than loads of random batteries etc which could look a bit strange.my main worry was that the cartridges could be classed as 'liquid' and there's no way I can see of working out how many ml's you're taking as the limit is 100 ml.i hoped if they're in blister packs they'll not think they're 'liquid' and I can take loads. I'm just so blissed out that vaping is as good as smoking that I'm panicking I won't have enough to last the holiday and they'd confiscate my new best friend! Thank you, and I'll post how I get on at the airport so others in the uk can relax if they've not done it before xxx

I think you need 5 posts to break the bonds of noobville, but one you have access here's a link to the travel thread: Travel and E-Cig

I've travelled a lot in the States and never had any problems. My philosophy has always been one of "I'm not doing anything wrong so I'm not hiding". I take everything in my carry-on and make sure juice is in bottles 3oz or less (I usually travel with ~6 flavors in either 30ml or 60ml). I put all the bottles in a ziplock plastic baggie and put it right in the scanner bin with my shampoo and shaving cream. Everything else is either in my computer bag or carryon suitcase except my Provari with full 3.5ml tank goes through scanner in my jacket pocket.

I've been asked basic questions by Security/TSA (like "what's that?" or "is that an ecig thing", but never been given a hard time.

I totally agree cloud wizard, once you look like you're trying to disguise something you're far more likely to cause yourself problems...so I'm packing it all carefully so they can see what it is.i've tried to call the airline all week hunny bunny without sucess but finally got through this am! Just for the record Ryian Air say just pack in your hand luggage and that there are no restrictions on the amount of e cigs that you take (cartridges) juice would still come under the max 100 ml rule...dgm76513, I didn't realise that the liquid limit would equate to 100-200 cartridges! Even I can't smoke that much in a week : ) thanks again everyone.i'm really looking forward to the holiday now, would send you a postcard if I could.have a great day xxx
