There is no question that vaping is better than smoking the stinky sticks.. but if you are having BP issues I would suggest ordering some of your favorite flavors in a lower nic. When you are just relaxing and vaping in excess - use the lower nic level. Nic does constrict you blood vessels so over doing the nic level can cause you problems. The best thing you can do for yourself is to exercise.... I know it's hard and I have good days and bad days with the exercise but, good diet and exercise have so much more to do with your overall health.

I vape 11mg to 0nic, I have had HBP for years. In the last year and a half my BP has lowered steadily. I am doing nothing different and using the same medicine. It is my firm belief that the chemicals and smoke in cigarettes kept the numbers high..now that I vape, I am not getting all that junk. I have never used a high nic...even 18 gives me a buzz! Trying hubby's 24 and 36 is too much for me. We get so little real nic from E-cigs that I doubt if you kept your level down you would have too much trouble.

Well judging from your avatar the first thing you need to do is put down that remote and lay off the beer.

Generally speaking if you are Stage 2 or above when not on meds, vaping probably has little to no effect on your blood pressure. Best thing to do is to improve your diet, lose weight if needed, and start a regular exercise routine.......I'll bet you never heard that before.

So I have high blood presure now, getting older is not fun sometimes. I have been lowering my nic level, trying to eat healthier, etc.
Any input from folks in the know about the relation between nicotine and BP would be appreciated.

I am a nurse LPN (3 months away from RN, wife is RN also) Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, so the less, the better. My unofficial advice: Watch your sodium (it makes your blood pressure increase by holding water back in the body), take your medications, lower your cholesterol, and watch your stress level.

All you can do is your best.

Warm Regards

Exercise can help a lot with stress relief, the endorphins do it. The key is to find a form of exercise you enjoy, so it doesn't seem like another obligation. And go slow at first, give yourself time to adjust.

My mom has HBP and one of her doctors recommended swimming. She loved it but hasn't gotten back into a routine yet since her last hip replacement. But she goes out walking when weather permits. Walking can be an excellent form of exercise.

Me, I started rollerblading when I was 47. Even on the days when I feel flabby and out of shape, it's so much fun I don't think of it as exercise... but it sure is! I wish I could do it more often, especially in the winter when it's just too cold and the roads are sloppy with snow or slush. The nicest thing about going out for my "flying ride on little wheels" - I like being outside, skating along the Hudson River with my iPod - it drives all worries from my mind! I get into a zone and everything seems to fade away except the roll, no matter what problems I might have going on.

A meditation practice can also help clear the mind wonderfully. Worrying is just borrowing trouble from the future... I know, I do a lot of it myself.

Congratulations on choosing to take care of yourself. Good luck finding your physical bliss!

I smoke a half pack of cig's a day, vape at 36 mg. , drink about 8 cups of espresso, never exercise, and last week my BP was 104.
This was b/c i was nervous at the Dr.'s office.
I pour salt or potassium into my hand and gulp it down b/c otherwise I get dizzy.
Dr.'s always seem to think low BP is good. But I have no energy.
