Okay. Since you know more about coils & builds than me, what exactly is a sleeper and how is this not one?
@billfirth3 yeah the subzero 24 is actually pretty great, especially in hybrid mode on the subzero mod. Post holes aren't that hard to fit coils into, they're 2.5mm~? Plenty of room. But agreed. You can fit almost anything in the Goon. I have a what I'm starting to call a half double coil - basically 2 half staple stagger fused or whatever -fused together waiting to be fused with 44g. 2x 10 ply .3x.1mm/40g spaced. I'll probably be able to get like 3 wraps per side, 20 ply ribbon is so thick lol.
Is that your picture on the subzero of the half double coil?

I guess you could do the same thing on a two post atty, but you would have to wrap one coil, pass a long leg through the post and then wrap another coil on that leg of the wire. The two loose ends (one from each coil on either side) would then be attached from either side to the remaining open post on the atty. It would be a lot easier on a Goon, because you can actually remove the top clamp on one post to capture the wire between the two coils.

It's hard to explain and probably better suited for a video.

I was just using the three post as an example. If you look at the picture of the coil on the subzero deck above - the long wire in the center (between the two coils) would run through a center post on a three post atty which would create a parallel build. The way it is currently built - it's just two coils in series. Still a nice coil though.

Naw, have a half double in my Petri v2. It's .07 but since it's more flat than dense it lights up super quick. It's 28g/8ply .3x.1mm with 36g staggers & a 40g fuse.

Thanks. I don't understand why people assume sleepers are parallel all the time. But i guess I know nothing about making coils or terminology.

I would think you know something after building those coils lol [emoji1303]

Screw that. I'd have tools, mods, and all sorts of other assorted equipment embedded in the walls from throwing .... if I tried building something like that. Staple staggered fused was enough for me. I'll stick with good old triple core aliens lol
Lmao. I like to push my limits occasionally. I don't build like that very often & that pic has a ton of ghosting from an unsteady tripod & focus stacking. But every now and again I'll build something that's absurd. It de-stresses me from my work & life when I have to focus on wires so thin.

Well, don't pile me into that group. I clearly started my response with "I'm guessing" so it was merely that. I thought your coil build was very nice and clean - whatever the proper terminology happens to be.

All good, I just hate it when people nit pick on terminology when it comes to coils. I mean, one time someone tried telling me I cannot use the term "Claptons," because it's named after Eric Clapton. Yeah I get its named after a guitar string wrap which led to the name Clapton but what do you call the multiple or plural definition?
Also that a fused Clapton wasn't proper because in the welding world (a world I do not work in) fused means fused on a molecular level. I'm sorry. But this is vaping not welding and in coil terminology a fused Clapton is a 2 or more core Clapton coil.
To me a fuse is a form of protection in a circuit to prevent it from overpowering or exploding (e.g., amplifier guse) or a strand of wire that doesn't need air to be lit attached to something that eventually explodes. So like i said. Fused means something different in coil building than in other terminologies.
So when someone tries to tell me I am wrong with terminology on coils of all things (check out the coil builds section of the forum) vaping I get on the defensive. Coil building isn't welding nor is it circuit board protection nor is it demolitions.
/rant.

Right on.

When the person doesn't understand what the term "fused" means, or how to use it in a sentence, I cant take their coil advice seriously.

From my understanding, a sleeper coil is a pair of coils that are built from a single length of wire that passes through (could also be trapped/wrapped around the positive screw head) the atomizer's positive post without a break in the wire, creating a parallel coil setup.

I'm guessing that a sleeper is a continuous wire that passes through the center post on a three post atty with a coil on each side, creating a true parallel build with no break in the wire between the two coils. Your coil is very nice, but is actually two coils in series, not parallel.

Bingo. It is a really nice series build as well, definitely quite uncommon. Does it heat from the middle of the center "leg"?
