any one of these could become a dna40 with a chip swap and I'm always building the next mod so when 40's are available I'm sure they will be my next go to chip. I just hope I like the wire required for the temp regulation. so far I've tried several different wires and the only wire I really like is kanthal... if the wire doesn't taste as good to me as kanthal then I probably won't even use the temp features... honestly though that's why I'm such a fan of regulated bottom feeders in the first place, I can tune my vape to where it is always perfect with no dry hits. I tune my builds as one squonk per hit and never have any dry hits at all

ha, not much for naming things so no, the only one shown here that I named is the fat 26650 one that I built from scratch, I call that one fatboy like the harley because it had no name to begin with, but the others are already named woodies and I haven't even thought to name any :)

also, I know no one even asked but I do have one favorite out of all my mods and the one that is my favorite might surprise many, hell it even surprises me because believe it or not my favorite one is only powered by a dna20 and it only takes a single coil but my favorite out of all of them

I love the way it feels in my hand, the ebony and snake wood are just so silky smooth and because it's only a single coil and only 20 watts lasts me almost a whole day. the chalice really is a great vape. now in contrast my second favorite is the 60 watts sx350 chipped tall guy, with a nice 22mm dual coil atty that one just really chucks thick chewy tasty vapor by the huge cloudfull's but there I need a few batteries a day and many times I even empty the tank in that one before the day is over and it's a 9ml tank

Is that the tall 2-toned metal one? Love that! Great fire button. I'd want to buy a nice IWC chronograph to wear while using it.

no the 2 toned metal one was my first reo build and it has since been retired :) I may rebuild it one day but I really beat the crap out of it and since getting into the woods I really prefer a wood mod now. the other I was talking about is this one

I usually carry that one and my favorite one every day... that's enough to get through a whole day for me.... sometimes I substitute that tall one for one of my others as the days secondary carry but my favorite one is with me just about every day along with at least one other. sometimes my secondary is even a tube mod with a tank even.. sometimes the wizard Ti but sometimes my secondary might even be a mech too, although that's rare for me lately tbh...

The Evolve DNA-40 board in a Nutshell

The DNA-40 brings in a new era of "temperature controlled vaping" (TCV) - and the use of NR wires (Nickel) for heating the coil to maintain the temperature around selected ºF (soon switchable with ºC as well).

Off course the board is also capable of being used in its regular DNA mode with a 40W max. But the key feature is the introduction of TCV.

Other features of DNA-40 board include:
1. Reverse polarity protection
2. Adjustable from 1W to 40W
3. Fires until 0.16Ω when Kanthal / Nichrome wire is used
4. Fires until 0.10Ω when NR wire is being used
5. Automatic sensing between type of coil used (NR or R wire)
6. Max Temp adjustable till 600 ºF
7. Rails (removable) used for mounting the board
8. Voltage step down ability
9. Screen Dim time reduced
10. Soft limiting
11. Ramp-up power (Power Boost!)
12. Other standard features* of the DNA boards still continue

NOTE: Protovaper (XPV series), VaporShark (rDNA), Vapor Flask and a few others have confirmed that their next iteration shall be coming out with this board. I've written to MarkBugs and am waiting for their confirmation.

*Viz. 5-clicks On/Off, Wattage locking, Screen sleep etc.

Dammit Q! I need another regulated mod for my third ErlK. I'm currently pushing my 30w mods at 24w. Getting close. I'm thinking I'll pass on 40w and go for 50w or higher in my next reg mod. We'll see. Still looking and comparing atm.

Oh, and patiently awaiting work back from Titanium Mods from Ukraine about acquiring a Tamerlan mod to mount the Achilles on.

Oh, it'll not be about the 40W when I get to grab my next DNA device ~ it'll be about "Temp. Controlled Vaping" :)

The DNA40 will be a perfect fit for bottom feeders or drippers in that both devices run wet-dry-wet-dry and so on. This board will make a dry hit a thing of the past. As I understand it, it's actually measuring the change in resistance of the nickel wire as it heats up, not the actual temperature. It measures the starting resistance and unlike kanthal, the nickel wire increases resistance as it heats up. Wicks will last virtually forever. IMO this is a giant step forward.

A good explanation about the "Temp. Control Vaping" feature of the DNA-40:

"Think of temperature as speed, and power as the gas flow to the engine.

Set the cruise control at 70mph (400 degrees) and as you go up and down hills (resistance of the coil changing as the temperature changes) the cruise control will vary the gas to the engine to make sure that it's creating the right amount of power (watts) to maintain your speed (temperature).
" ~K_Tech

Nope, if I understand the explanation correctly, you're pretty spot on.

Think of temperature as speed, and power as the gas flow to the engine.

Set the cruise control at 70mph (400 degrees) and as you go up and down hills (resistance of the coil changing as the temperature changes) the cruise control will vary the gas to the engine to make sure that it's creating the right amount of power (watts) to maintain your speed (temperature).

I really hope that makes sense...?

I've got a question, particularly for those with MB Wizard's Apprentice Evolved II's. I was a day away from pulling the trigger on one when the Evolv DNA 40 announcement arrived. Now I've pulled back...trying to figure out if it's worth it to wait for the WAEIII or go ahead with the II and hope that MB will offer an upgrade path from DNA 30 to DNA 40...the idea of temperature control is really appealing. And I don't think I want to try and install a DNA 40 myself...maybe in the Vapor Shark DNA/rDNA but not in this beauty. What do you guys think...buy or by?

Apologies in advance if this post should be elsewhere...happy to re-post if that's the case.

Cheers,
SD

There is nothing wrong with owning a II and a III

1. FearTx is probably right ;)
2. It'd be a behemoth task to replace the boards from an already assembled mod
3. An even if it's done - it'd probably entail replacing everything except for the outer casing
4. In which case the effort is (A)not worth the trouble ~ and (B)will be expensive (near the price of a new)
5. As you haven't already pulled the trigger I'd advice you to WAIT.

Another one:

"VW is traditional Cruise Control, while Temperature Control is like Adaptive Cruise Control.

With traditional cruise control (VW) you set a speed and your car goes that speed, but it will still happily crash into the car in front of you. Temperature control is like adaptive cruise control. You set a speed, but if there's a car in front of you that's going slower than the speed you've set, your car will slow down to match that car's speed." ~Rossum
