I'm gonna watch that video in a bit but I did do some research while using ni200. That's all I've been using for the last 8+ months. Can't go back to kanthal/no TP.I'm not sure that most vapers know a whole lot about nickel right now either. In fact, there is a very interesting video going around, made by a guy named Ron, from Independence Vapors (in PA), that raises a lot questions.
I'm not a TC guy but if I was, I'd be doing a bit research on that right now. The very little that I did do told me that there's at least something to much of what Ron presents, so it's might be worth some time investigating further.
If anyone knows the video I'm referring to, please feel free to post it here, since the Xvo is a TC device. Again, I'm not educated enough to comment with any level of validity. But I have invited many who are (educated enough) to comment, via a FB post from early this morning. 12 hours later, not one of them has commented yet.
Another reason why I'm getting a bit concerned. For me, at least right now, nickel ain't happenin'. Subject to change with any conclusive evidence, of course.

Many, many people have been using Ni200 for almost a year and how many are complaining about allergic reactions? How many have gone to the emergency room? Don't you think we'd hear about this by now if it was remotely possible? I've been using it for over 8 months almost exclusively and have not had any weird taste or any symptoms of Nickel Carbonyl poisoning. I seriously doubt there's any NiCO4 being produced, if at all, at the temps we vape at. To produce NiCO4, you need Nickel (the wire) and carbon monoxide. If there's carbon monoxide around where you vape, you have far more problems than what your vape gear is doing to you, if you're even conscious.But but but....... KTM, since you HAVE been using this wire, it would be good to hear from you. Possibly there is another thread which might be more appropriate? I'm getting tired of constantly asking Q for his forgiveness.![]()
Wasn't that specifically mentioned in the Titanium thread?I was on a thread with a couple metallurgists commenting... Wish I remembered which thread. But the consensus was that it was safe to use at the temps seen in vaping due to the protective oxide layer that it forms...but one shouldn't dry burn it to the point out starts to glow, as this will burn off that coating.

It was mentioned when we first started using Ni200 when the DNA40 was introduced in Oct '14. That's why I use a toothbrush to clean my coils. It gets most of the crud off and works almost as good as new. What's left on the coil can be chipped off but it doesn't affect the vape, even when switching juices, and it's not worth the effort and it doesn't build up further over time. I have a couple of ni200 coil that's over 2 months old, re-wicked 4 times, over 110ml of juice and it still works great. Before that I was trying out different resistances (.10Ω - .21Ω). I settled on .10Ω - .12Ω.Wasn't that specifically mentioned in the Titanium thread?

After watching the video, I went to Google..... The ONLY thing I could find about nickel leaching was from cookware, and after 10 "cooking cycles" with an acidic food (tomatoes) the levels were far below daily safe limits. If you think about it...cook ware with nickel is subjected to more grueling use then our coils.... Much longer sustained heat exposure.
I thought that video had been discredited. Do I have to start worrying about NI200 again? I've only just worked out how to use the damn stuff properly!
