I am interested in this, but already working on a box mod right now.

Freight Train Mods claims to use DNA 30/40...

"The General" is a DNA 30/40 variable wattage pipe (Ranges from 7-30 watts & minimum of .5 Ohms/maximum of 3 Ohms) that runs on a single IMR (button top) battery.
(AW IMR 18490 or 18650/Orbtronics PD2900-18650). It has a OLED screen that displays your wattage, battery level, resistance of your atomizer, and your output voltage. It has 2 tactile switches to change your wattage. All electronics are encased in ABS plastic to provide a clean inside.

CUSTOM DNA 40 "THE GENERAL"
PRICE $269 AND UP

I'm not sure if they are using authentic boards (made by Evolv) though given how they use the name and talk about wattage. 0.5 Ohms for the DNA30D is right... but the DNA40 can go much lower and doesn't go as high (according to Evolv).

Either way, I would be interested to follow this...

I know that Yihi has a bunch of new boards different lengths sizes and shapes. You may want to look on their site and see whats out there. I thking if I was going to make one I would use a dna30 clone board. I have one and it works great, never misses a beat. The are nice and small package and you can run one on a 18350 if you needed to, wouldnt get much vape time with that, or maybe a tenergy 1200 may lipo they are about the size of a AA battery and have a high dischage rate.

My battery guesses were based on the ipv. Ipv2 (50w) uses one if I'm not mistaken. And the ipv3 (150w) uses 2, again if I'm not mistaken. And I'm pretty sure it could work in a pipe mod. Freight trains do it with one, so my idea would be to make the bowl slightly larger and have the two batteries side by side and whatever board next to it, like the freight train. There's a quick dirty sketch to show what I mean.

Why would that require 2x 18650's for you? You don't have any 20A CDR batteries?
Because I like to be well on the safe side, but more importantly if you take VTC5 batteries and run 1 at 15A verses 2 at 7.5A the 2 battery mod will last about 4 times as long because the batteries are under less stress. I don't want to be changing batteries all the time I'm lazy. We are all different though and if you don't vape that much or are happy to change batteries all the time it could work for you.

I would agree with you if the batts were under constant load... but with the duty cycle of a vaper, the two battery set up should only be lasting a little over twice as long (and I mean little). I would have to double check the datasheet to be certain. In general though, you have the right idea and I am shocked how many people don't realize how the load effects battery performance or that different battery technologies react differently (not talking about chemistry, talking about anode/cathode tech).

I likes my LG HE2's. I also like my custom flat packs straight from the honest to goodness manufacturer... :)

Your right I forgot to account for the fact that it's not constant so 4 times (in effect double the life) is a bit high but it will be significant maybe 1.2 to 1.5 battery life due to the load, but more significantly the battery isn't stressed so will take more charges and degrade slower. I still don't like hammering my batteries though if I don't have to, not knocking people who push it close to the limit (as long as they stay on the safe side) but it's not for me.

Yeah, I don't push (most) of mine all that hard... but yeah, like Burger King... Have it your way :) It seems my way of thinking has struck me again too... I was already factoring the charging cycles differently and seeing charging the set as two charges... stupid brain, can't live (happily) with 'em, and sure can't live without em :)

I have been watching your TickerFactory banner... I don't think I have seen one before, so I'm expecting the baby to grow up right before my eyes... shhh, don't tell me, I wanna be suprised if that's not what happens. I admit I am confused by the pitcher/catcher in the background though...
