After 5 weeks of vaping and more importantly, off of analogs, I am trying to decide on moving up to a 3.7 or 5 V model. I have a Blu, Joye 510 and KR8 and enjoy all three (510 is my all day unit), but am a little overwhlemed with the larger units and the want/need to upgrade.

I have read about the mods on the site and am just not sure if I need more vapor than my 510 puts out. I get huge clouds from it and my KR8 and nice vapor from the Blu after modifying with blue foam. However, is there any additonal advantage to the larger models other than battery life and vapor production.

I have not heard that higher voltage mods get longer battery life. They do require more batteries to work and are larger in size. I don't recall reading about a single battery mod ever catching fire. If you like the vape you already get, then stick with it.

However, is there any additonal advantage to the larger models other than battery life and vapor production.

Advantages to larger models if you already like your current vapor output? People say it increases flavor. Would seem easier to order better eliquid. Are there other advantages?

Thanks for the replys - great suggestion on he pass through, Dshack. Will look into that. I did not know that gave you 5V - interesting.

Thorn, not sure about batteries catching on fire note, I have not seen that either, but there are a lot of comments on the batteries lasting longer in larger units. I do not know if the Ego or the Riva fit into the high voltage models, but those come to mind on the longer battery life comments.
I currently am using Halo, Johnson Creek and Backwood Brew juice. I am very pleased with the quality, taste and vapor of these - at the prices I paid, I hope those are top quality.

Thorn I have looked at those huge Mods. I was wondering if your using an E-Cig to stop using traditional Cigarettes, wouldn't that look wierd to roll up somewhere with one of those huge Mods hanging out of your mouth. Opinions vary put I consider those to be for the "Hard Core" Vapor Monsters. There also very expensive if you get a nice one!! Good Luck

I don't think I would be able to vape anything higher than a 3.7. It sometimes is too much for me now. I would probably go into a nonstop coughing fit if I used a 5 v. But that is just me.:toast:

Hi there! I totally agree suddenly. As I replied to thorn. Unless your in this for the pure Massive Mod user, well I think the 3.7 is perfect for most PV.

Also, love the Avatar... I found one on Photobucket but can't seem to get it to transfer over as my Profile Pic.. It says it has to be a URL and I'm having a hard time finding one of those.... I recognize your. Can you suggest some of your knowledge in doing this! Many thanks!!:D

I bought one of thous 5 volt passthroughs dshack was talking about - and I dislike it. For example right now I am vaping a mixture of english toffee and simi-sweet chocolate I made. With my ego the vape is quite pleasing at 5 volts the spice in the chocolate burns the back of my throat. I tried a LR cartomizer on it the other day and I do believe the juice was literally boiling inside it and it burned my lips. 5% volts is just much to much for me - I am glad I bought the passthrough - because it I was eying 5 and even 6 volt mods and planning to buy one - now I know they are too much for me - and I only spent around $15 to learn that lesson. OP: first of all, a 5v passthrough plugged into a standard USB port on a computer will NOT give you a 5v vape. Reason is that a computer passthrough cannot supply the 1.5+ amps required to power the atty. Sure, it will *work,* but not like a true 5v mod will. To use a passthrough this way, you need a 120 VAC to 5 VDC USB transformer (the type you plug into a wall outlet) that can supply 1500 to 2000 (or more) milliamps (or 1.5 to 2 amps) of current.

That being said, 5v has taken vaping to the next level for me. I was satisfied at 3.7, but I'm not one to leave well enough alone. I have built 2 box mods so far, one at strictly 5 volts, and one variable from 3 to 6 volts. Having experienced it, I will never go back. 5v on a 510 atty, for me, has increased not only the vapor production, but flavor and throat hit as well. Additionally, I am getting 12+ hours on one set of batteries, instead of the meager 2 or so on a standard 510 battery. During a heavy night of drinking with my standard 510, i'd burn through 3 batteries, and a PCC's worth of charge. Now I just need to leave the house with my mod and a bottle of juice. Spare batteries are a think of the past, as long as I leave with a fresh set.

If you are fairly DIY inclined, a simple 5v mod can be made for under $35, including batteries and charger. If not, you're looking at around $50 for a box mod, batteries and charger. Either way, if I could do it all over again, I would have went straight to the mod, and skipped the 510 starter kit.

Kushka: you should NEVER use a LR atty on a high voltage mod. Sparing the electrical nerd talk, you're lucky you didn't kill the atty. Way too much heat generated when raising the voltage on a low resistance atomizer, which is why you said you burned your lips, and were probably boiling the juice.
Hope this helps!
