The other thing I was curious about was what I would use to keep all the components in place (ie glue). I figured I might want to use something that would still come up if I wanted to move anything around. I know people talk about eventually taking everything out of a box and starting a new project with those materials. I can see myself getting the same box if I were to ever damage the original one.

I don't know what eveyone else is using. I have been using this

It is only good up to 180 degrees though which would be fine for removing stuff but is not so good for attaching your atty connection as it softens up when it gets too hot and allows things to move around.

On the other hand for attaching things like boards or switches etc. why not. I am personally looking for a high temp high strength epoxy that works on both metal and plastic and is sandable cuttable and grindable that will not soften up or stink when heat is applied to it for a number of things including glueing my atty connection in place. Anyone got any ideas on that?????

This sounded good but then upon closer inspection it says it stinks when it gets hot

maybe some high temp silicone sealant like they use for car gaskets but that stuff is red and I don't want to see it but maybe if I clean it up really good.

I was also hoping to get a cheap soldering iron. I don't know if I'm going to make more after I'm done making mine so I may just need one to last me through this one project. I was going to get one from harbor Freight for a few bucks. I haven't looked into it much yet but so far the only thing I see people complain about when it comes to cheaper ones is that it takes a while to heat up. That doesn't really bother me.
