Hey guys,
so a little background first, Three days ago i decided i didn't like the shiny stainless look of the e-huge so i went about changing it. I took the entire mod apart and cleaned all the peices and used my caswell plating stainless blackener i had at home. End result, thing looked amazing. Well during the course of this i somehow slipped the circuit board loose from where it was sitting in the tube, which broke one of the little micro switches for up and down power control. Looking further i found i had destroyed the board from the switch breaking and the ground wire was pulled out from the circuit board. With these two things i first though this mod was now just an expensive large paper weight.
Then i had the brilliant idea to replace the broken board with a DNA30. I've wanted a dna mod for some time now, can get the board direct, couple switches, why not it's at least worth a try.
Now the hard part, i'm going to order a DNA30 tonight to get it here, my biggest question deals with the ribbon cable to the screen. For those of you who have workings with this chip how fragile is the cable truly, and is there any way to orientate the screen to board other than the screen behind the board. Every build i have seen for DIY DNA30 builds the were boxes with the screen under the board Vertical/Vertical, is it possible to put the screen horizontal with the board vertical? The contol tube of the e-huge is about the same size as an 18650 mod so the chip should fit in, but the screen cutout is already horizontal which doesn't work.
Any thoughts or ideas guys? Worst case i will put the screen behind the board vertical/vertical and have a cutout in the back of the tube you'd have to look at through the bars. i'd just really like to keep the orentation of the buttons and screen the same.
Think of vamo layout for anyone that has any questions. I'll get preliminary pictures posted after i get home from work.
Thanks
